Recharge and revitalize connect with nature, yourself, and loved ones. 3/18/2006

Morton arboretum is a great place. You can enjoy with friend, lover, family, or by yourself. Walking in nature is an active form of meditation and automatically brings you in present moment. From here you can really connect and recharge, shift points of view on problems and you might find the problems themselves dissapate. With people you can connect on them on a more authentic level and really get to know your people. As opposed to all these places that require you do something. The trees are beneficial and you can meditate with trees. I wasnt always like this but I had an open mind and tried things. Try communicating with the plants on an energetic level. Its especially great during fall when leaves change. more

A Suburban Oasis 1/28/2006

My expectations were high when my husband and I first visited the Arboretum ; were the expensive tickets worth a day with trees? Couldn't we do that for free somewhere else? After 40 minutes of waiting in line to park our car in a field, I was almost ready to turn around. Surprisingly, Morton exceeded all my expectations. Aside from the huge crowds that had gathered for a harvest event at the main visitor's center, we managed to walk a few minutes off the beaten path to complete seclusion. We enjoyed a picnic lunch in a grassy clearing and saw a maximum of 10 people over the course of an hour or so. We traversed many trails with international theming (trees of China, trees of Japan), and it was wonderful. Morton keeps a good record of most of their trees, although it seemed as though every tree we wanted to identify had no tag. The festival was great, too. Free wine tasting and plenty of family-friendly activities. Take a Sunday afternoon in the fall and go visit the Arboretum; it's well worth the time spent waiting in line to park. more

Lovely Oasis in the West 'burbs 12/28/2005

This beautiful retreat was one of the better results of the success of the Morton salt company. It is a several hundred acre area of native forest mixed with planted trees and shrubs and gardens. There is a headquarters with a lunchroom and museum area. Back in the '60s it was free and I used to come out here in my car after school to get lost on one of the wooded paths in a remote corner of the park. Now it costs $6 a car at last visit. It is a lot more popular, but if you come during the week it is still possible to find lots of trails where you will have the woods to yourself, to share only with the forest creatures and the trees and wind. http://www.mortonarb.org/ more

Morton Arboretum 11/4/2005

The Morton Arboretum is really one of the top places in Lisle and a big attraction. People come from all over to visit. It has beautiful paths to stroll along and lots to ease. Students can get good educational material there about plants and animal behaviour. There is a really cool maze to walk through so you can feel like a giant mouse for awhile. Pack a picnic and bring the family. It's nice to visit in the evening as well. more

A nice weekend get-away close to home 10/22/2005

The Morton Arboretum features acres and acres of trees, plants, flowers that are unique and beautiful to look at. They have just created two life-size mazes, one for really little kids, and one for the whole family to walk through. The mazes were inspired from Alice in Wonderland. They have events throughout the year available for all age groups. It's a fun place to get out of the car, walk around, and imagine you are in the wilderness. It has a convenient location too! more

wow 10/6/2005

This is a super beautiful trail to take a walk along during any time of the year. Its huge and filled with plants and flowers from all around the world. It really brings you close to nature as you realize the true beauty of the wonderul flowers and plants. The trail is pretty long and you can easily spend hours walking along it. And it should be visited during all the different seasons because each season has its own beautiful effect on the flowers and plants. more

Pretty place 9/23/2005

The best time to go is in the fall and spring. Summer and winter, not so much. It really is a beautiful place to drive around or hike. They just opened a new children's area that is fabulous. All that being said, I don't understand the cost involved to go see trees. Again, I am a cheapskate so perhaps that is my problem, but it seems like a lot of money to just go look at trees, trees that have been planted in an area I can hear the traffic from rt 53 and I 88. So yes, it's definitely worth going to at least once (definitely the fall) but you could easily go to a forest preserve and have an equally lovely time for free. more

Nature at it's Best 9/11/2005

The Morton Arboretum is a wonderful way to enjoy the outdoors either with your family or alone. The grounds are extensive so you can spend en entire day and not see everything and it changes as the seasons change. They have great clasess and special exhibits all the time. They have a new maze which is a lot of fun for the kids. It is reasonably priced (but bring your own food and drinks unless you want to drop some serious cash) and very easy to find as it is well marked and easily accesible from the highway. more

Morton Arboretum 8/21/2005

As the summer is coming to an end and school is about to start, thoughts of fall bring to mind the Morton Arboretum. Bring your good walking shoes, as this is a great place to go and see the various fall colors, and to spend a few hours enjoying nature. It's also a great place for a field trip with the kids. And it's also a great place to go to in the springtime, as the trees and plants are starting to bloom, and everything is that lush bright green. Of course, because it's a great place for autumn and spring outings, it's especially popular/crowded on weekends. more

Picnic Perfect 8/18/2005

The Morton Arboretum is the ideal place to spend a nice summer afternoon. The large acreage has a multitude of species of flowers, trees, etc. A slow meandering road winds its way throughout, allowing a peaceful drive. The flowers are beautiful and there are several great spots for a picnic. They have recently renovated their reception hall which is a gorgeous place for parties or weddings. more
