The Melting Pot-Kansas City

This is one of the neatest places in Kansasa City I think. The romantic atmopshere is great for anniversary's or a date. They offer wonderful service and the food is out of this world. We have gone twice and each time the food is a little better I believe. I love how you can cook your own food nad the hands on experience. It makes things a little fun and it is way different than any restaurant around the area. more

The Melting Pot is a great addition to the Kansas City Country Club Plaza. This restaurant is a fondue restaurant and the only one of it's kind. Each table has a burner sat in the middle. If you have a larger group you may have two burners on your table which is great because it allows you to enjoy more fondue options. There are many courses available at this place. You often start with a cheese fondue and they have many great options. The Wisconsin trio is my favorite. The fiesta cheese is great too. The cheese comes with veggies, bread and apples to dip in it. Then next is the salad course and they have great salads. The one with the rasberry dressing is great. The meat course isn't my favorite and since it is the most expensive I will usually skip this. However, they have choice cuts of most meats available and they have different flavored oils that you can fondue your meat in and then sauces for dipping. The last course is the best! Chocolate fondue for dessert. This fondue comes with fruit, marshmallows, brownies and cheesecake. There are tons of options, but the Baileys or Cookies and Cream are my favorite. The prices here are more expensive and it's easy for a couple having all course with a drink to spend 100.00. However, if you just want to try a little, hit this place for happy hour on a weeknight in the bar. The cheese and chocolate are 1/2 price and so are the martini's. It's a great meal to have once in awhile. more

I have never been to a place like this before but when I went to the melting pot we were very delighted. The fondue food and desserts were amazing and the employees were very wonderful when we had no idea what to do. Their prices are a little on the high side so it isn't an every week type thing unless you have lots of money but for the experience and the food it is definetly a place to try atleast once :) more

This is a really neat restaurant. It's a fondue place and each table has an inset burner. You can order meals that are cooked in oil or broth and the food is served raw, you cook it yourself at the table. The staff are excellent at explaining what to do, making recommendations and answering questions. The greatest part is the dessert! Chocolate fondue! You can choose from many different types of chocolates and add ins like shredded coconut to have melted together and then dip marshmallows, strawberries, pineapple et. in the mix! It is kind of a romantic setting, very nice for anniversaries. more
