Best

My boyfriend and I went to Melting Pot and we experienced a fun, fun, fun! Dinner. I kept on stealing his lobsters (lol), but anyway, the food was awesome! Will be returning with ...

Worst

This is a restaurant that is good to try once...it's very pricy and over-rated. And the Most Romantic in Denver??? Please!

Not my idea of fine dining 10/4/2008

Ok...so I tried this restaurant because of all the good reviews. I give this restaurant a low score because, honestly, for the money...the food was not so great. Plain food that you ""boil"" and dip in some ok tasting sauces. This was not my idea of a fine dining experience no matter how you slice it. Take your money and spend it in a nice steak house or italian restaurant instead. more

It Was Fantastic and Great Fun 5/28/2008

We went for our anniversary and a much needed date night. We were greeted by very attentive hostesses and we got a great area in the basement. The roses and mood was set for the evening. New to this dining experience, our server, a tall red-headed gentleman with a great smile and cheerful personality) explained everything in detail and made a few suggestions as to his favorites. Glad we had a guide! The service was quick and professional. The food ""Out-of-this world,"" the dining experience was fun, the location of our private cove, perfect. Lots of money? You get what you pay for and we did, experienced server, fantastic food, great atmosphere! What more could one ask for? Pros: Experienced Servers, Ambience/Atmosphere, Great Food, Flowers for Date Cons: Not a single one. more

Overpriced? Where else will find a four course dinner for two people for under $100? 5/23/2008

I mean, really people. Unless you go to Chilli's or someone other craphole, you're not going to find a better deal in town. The same idiots who complain about it being overpriced are probably the same ones who complain about having to cook their own food!!! GET A FRIGGING CLUE!!!.\r \r I recently took my wife of eight years to the Littleton location for an impromptu night out. From the moment I walked in the door I not only observed an attentive host staff, but an multi-level waterfall. Simply AMAZING!\r \r Our server, who was very professional and direct, began telling us about their newest special. It was a four course meal for two which included a bottle of wine. Where on earth can you find something like this? The best part about the special was that a portion of the proceeds were going to charity. Our server made us believe that without a doubt, this was the best way to go. He was direct and passionate, but not pushy. \r \r We tried their newest cheese and although the presentation was interesting (a long carving knife to a lime for zest) I still believe the Wisconsin cheese is their best.\r \r Chocolate was of course sinful, but what set the night off completely had nothing to do with the food. Towards the end of our evening the manager, Tony I believe was his name,( My wife calls him the well-dressed secret service) came to our table with two glasses of champagne. We were both shocked he came to the table considering we weren't celebrating anything with champagne and strawberries. When we informed him we weren't celebrating anything he laughed and said he knew that, but sometimes just getting out is reason enough. AGREED!!! He then thanked us for coming in and talked briefly about the charity we had just ""donated"" to!\r \r I had to write my own review of this wonderful restaurant after seeing several bad reviews. We'll be back!\r \r -Jonathan and Diane Pros: Everything from the waterfalls to the service... Cons: $6.50 for a beer? more

Did a great job 5/4/2008

I held a baby shower here at tor my daughter and my first grandchild and I have to say it was great! The staff went out of their way to make sure it was memorable. They supplied balloons that said ""it's a boy"" and and made sure we had everything we needed. The fondue was great and our server ""Jim"" did a fantastic job. The staff even helped us carry the gifts my daughter received out to our vehicles. I would highly recommend this restaurant for a special event. Also, I have eaten here on other occasions and have always found it to be excellent. Yes, it takes awhile, but it is fondue for goodness sake!!! It is not cheap, but the experience is worth the money. more

Great experience! 4/27/2008

After reading many online reviews (mixed, although some could be discarded when they got into the ""I have to cook my own food?"" comments!), I was a little worried about whether it would be worthwhile to go. I decided to go ahead, and we took a group of 8 to the Littleton location.\r \r I needn't have been concerned. We were seated quickly for a 9pm reservation on a Saturday--it would have paid to make the reservation more than a week out, if we needed to get in earlier--in a sort of ""private room."" It was smallish, but comfortable. \r \r The service was outstanding. From the roses waiting at the table (it was a birthday celebration) to the attentive waiter, we were very pleased with our treatment. We had everything explained well (and patiently), and it was fun to watch the food prep and cook with fondue. The seafood-based main course was very tasty, filling, and enjoyable to cook.\r \r Yes, the price is up there, but I thought it was well worth the expense for the experience we had over 3 hours. If you're looking for fine dining, then you might be disappointed, but if you want to do fondue, then by all means, don't hesitate. more

Disgustingly dirty. 12/31/2007

Went to the restaurant with out of town friends. I have been to the restaurant many times in the past with no problems. Unfortunately, this time the restaurant was horrible:\r 1. the silverware had baked on food particles.\r 2. the dishes had baked on food particles.\r 3. the beer glass was cracked.\r 4. the first waiter complained how he was overworked with little pay.\r 5. the chocolate fondue had a hair in it.\r If you go, check the cleanliness of the food and silverware.\r \r The table next to me filled out the suggestions card and wrote they should get new waitstaff, but the waitstaff got it first and laughed.\r \r Don't waste your time and money. Pros: Good cheese fondue. Cons: Disgustingly Dirty! more

Great *expensive* date place 11/26/2007

I would definitely recommend this restaurant for anyone going on a formal, nice, and expensive date. The food is awesome (not particularly fancy--as it is fondue) with plenty of options. I am a vegetarian and my boyfriend is a BIG meat eater, and this did not pose a problem at all with the variety of options. For what the food lacks in ""formalness,"" the atmosphere of the restaurant makes up for. The one in Louisville, at least to me, feels incredibly romantic, yet the dress goes from casual all the way to formal, so don't feel like you must dress to the 9s. \r All in all, the service was great and super friendly (which is pretty rare when two college kids are sitting in a high end restaurant) and the food was excellent. If you are willing to spend the money ($90 for the two of us) it will be a fun, and yummy, experience. Pros: Food, Service, Ambience, Romantic Cons: A little on the pricey side more

What a place for a romantic dinner for two 5/22/2007

Very quaint place. People ther were very pleasant and helpful. We were treated very well and the service was just perfect. Very unique place - especially for a romantic dinner for two in a tucked away place made for you. \r \r Food was just wonderful - the cheese, meat and chocolate fondues were top - and for the price a real good value. Just happened to walk in - lucky break for us. Thoroughly enjoyed the time we spent there. Pros: Very unusual setting and a great experience Cons: Not much at all. more

YUMMY! 11/17/2006

This is a great place to celebrate a special occasion. My husband and I come here every year to celebrate our anniversary and the service is always great. The food is faboulous. Expect to spend 2-3 hours enjoying your meal. more

What a Dip 11/9/2006

What other restaurant can you go to and pay to cook your own appetizer, dinner, and dessert? This place is romantic, fun, and something different. Pros: Romantic and quiet. Great date place. Cons: On the spendy side. more

Fun and Tasty Experience 11/4/2006

Never been to a fondue place before and enjoyed it very much. Everything was outstanding, except the prices. Pros: "experience" dining, something for everyone, service Cons: Price more

Not just dinner... an event! 5/5/2006

HERE IS A GREAT JEM TO KNOW! Though it's not on the menu, ask for the ""sunset special"". For 50 something dollars you get, for 2 people, a bottle of wine, your choice of a variety of entrees, salad, appetizer and dessert. By far the best deal and it included practically everything on the menu! So be sure to ask about it while you make your reservations. I just recently went with a party of 8, sat in a private wine cellar area & had a wonderful time. I made reservations well in advance since we were attending an Opera later on and booked 3 hours ahead of the show. We made it there with time to spare. I would suggest to allow at least 2 to 3 hours for dinner to allow you time to get to where you need to be if you have something else planned. Pros: Attentive staff, Delicious Food, Wine Selection Cons: It's very dark inside more

That is what I paid for? 2/5/2006

EVERYTHING was great - Except the service. For the money we paid ($100 total per couple) We should have gotten a lot better service. The only real service we got was from the Darci, who we thought was the water lady. Our waiter ignored us most of the time, he was sloppy, and was not very imformative. Another lady came around and did not even ask if we wanted water and then just leaned over the table unannounced and poured water in our glasses. She splattered water in my friends face and didn't even apoligize. For the money we paid, we should have enjoyed better service - heck we cooked our own food! not to mention construction all over the place. HINT: After 10pm it is cheap, call for info. Pros: Quaint, Fun to share, long time 3.5hrs Cons: Service does not = $, Drink are outrages $$, Construction more

Over Priced and Over Rated!!! 7/30/2005

Romantic is definitely NOT a word used at the Melting Pot! Price is TOO high and the food is just average at best. TOO much work to be a romantic place to eat! The emphasis on feed yourself and NOT enjoy getting to know your date! more

Great fun! 9/29/2004

Went here for a romantic birthday for two, and had a great time! We were in a corner booth which was very private. The servers were very attentive and helpful. It was fun cooking our own food (get a broth, not the oil for the entree). The dessert fondue was terrific and there was a great variety. We got in on an early-bird special, so the value for the experience was better than if dining at a later time. Great date spot! Pros: Good food, Private, Good service more

Definitely Not Switzerland 3/7/2004

We were very disappointed in the way the menu was presented. Were expecting something a little more authentic. Most of the fondues available were too creative for our desire to experience a traditional fondue meal. The Swiss have made both an art and a science of this type food and the Melting Pot has a long way to go. After getting over the initial disappointment, it can be an okay place for a group or ""fun"" outing - it just isn't the place to go if you want choice, quality or real fondue. Pros: Friendly servers, Not rushed, Res. time honored Cons: , Salads too large, Not authentic fondue more

Wondeful experience 1/18/2004

All I can say is this is a wonderful place to eat dinner. The food, service and atmosphere was impeccable. I will be going there again very soon. Pros: Valet Parking, Customer Service, Atmosphere Cons: Expensive more

Diffrent and Fun 10/7/2003

Although the prices here are rather out there it's fun for a special ocasion. Not for large groups, kids or anyone in a hurry (dinner can last up to 3 hours). If you are in the mood to enjoy your dinner partner, relax and take your time, this is the place to go. The dessert is one thing that is to die for!!! Pros: Dessert, Diffrent, Relaxing Cons: Price, Time it takes more

wonderful 10/5/2003

My husband and I have our anniversary dinner at the Melting Pot in old town Louisville every year. It is a real treat because it is quite expencive but I love that there is no feeling of being rushed and we can sit and talk for hours over some wonderful food. Pros: Good Food, Quite Cons: Expencive more

anniversary fun 8/6/2003

My husband and I always go to the melting pot on our anniversary. It's a wonderful place to share a bottle of wine and spend a leisurely dinner catching up (without the kids!) The secluded tables for two are perfect for a romantic evening. more
