Pre-ten-tious 4/2/2007

This restaurant isn't great. I'm not sure what everyone in Dallas is talking about but I heard about it through them. I took my wife here and we were both pretty excited about trying something new. The first thing you'll notice is that this ""romantic"" restaurant is located in a strip mall and it's above the Cingular store. How romantic is that?? You have to walk up these parking lot stairs and when you reach the top, the restaurant entrance is in this dimly lit hallway. Ghe tto. You sit down, you look at the menu, you have to squint hard cause it's so dark in there. For two, they have several ""combo"" set meals. Ours was priced at $100 for both of us. A bit much, but we didn't know what to expect. Well, after our food came out, we should have expected more. The first course starts with your choice of cheese melted in the fondue p ot served with bread and apples. The next course, where you cook your own food, was a p ot of boiling soup. You put your meat on a skewer and cook it in the p ot. For $100, we got a lobster tail each and a few pieces of beef and chicken. Oh, but you get unlmiited potatoes and bread! The last course is your choice of a chocolate melted in the p ot and served with bread and cookies. The food is pretty good, but definitely not enough for $100! I told my wife the next time we want lobster and beef, we can go to THE KEG and for $100 we can get 3 steak and lobster dinners. The service was ok, but not good enough to justify spending this much money. Make sure you've got at least two hours to spend on dinner as well since everything is on a time table with the different courses. I'm not sure why people are raving about this place - maybe they are jumping on the bandwagon? Don't buy in to it. Sure, it's fun dipping things into cheese, but there's also many other fun things you can do with all that money. Pros: tasty food, fun way to eat Cons: way too expensive, not enough cheese for the money more

FUN! 11/20/2006

I've been to this restaurant many times and I leave satisfied every time. I usually order one of the dinner menus for couples, and its always more than enough food for two. Sometimes we have leftovers even with three people! There are a variety of choices, from the cheese, salads, meats, cooking styles, dessert, all of which are outstanding. It is truly a unique dining experience. Pros: variety, romance Cons: for those who are impatient, it's about a 2 hour dining experience more

Romance at it's finest 4/17/2006

The Melting Pot was a very romantic dining experience! Several comfortable cozy booths for two made a quiet, private meal perfect. The service and wine list really stood out. Fondue is the type of meal catering to getting to know each other or catching up with old friends. We enjoyed the selection of seafood and there were vegetarian options for my wife. The meal itself took time but we were unrushed by the server which was a rare treat for dining in Addison where we have had other so called 'fine dining' restaurants rush us out for the next guests. Overall would have to rate 9+! Pros: Cozy atmosphere, Wine list, Service Cons: Cook entree yourself, Reservations suggeste, Cost @ $50per person more

Too Dark! 3/21/2005

This restaurant is listed as a romantic dining place so we tried it for our wedding anniversary. However, romance here seems to mean 'as dark as possible'. The restaurant is quite cavernous with lots of (too) private spaces and very sparse lighting. Maybe it is just us, but especially when eating fondue one would really like to be able to take a good look at the raw food that is being served, but due to the dim light this is almost impossible to evaluate. Summary: An o.k. experience but not outstanding. Pros: plenty of food Cons: dark and canvernous, small tables more
