Educational and Fun! 6/9/2009

The Living Planet Aquarium is a great place for young and old. It's very educational and keeps kids entertained for hours. It's easy to get to, and the parking is free! The facility is clean, and the guest service and education staff is extremely helpful and knowledgeable. It was nice to have someone at the bio facts station to talk to about all of the animals. There are special presentations throughout the day where you can see and touch live animals! The experience received at The Living Planet Aquarium is priceless. Pros: Great place to learn and be entertained more

Disappointed 5/26/2009

WE purchased a Birthday Package there in which is supposed to include a host, unlimited drinks to the soda fountain and a room for an hour. We in fact did not get a host, we had to ask for drinks because the fountain is no longer availabe. When our drinks came it was already 30 minutes into the party. The tables were dirty when we got there, like they reused the generic plastice table clothes from a prior party. The package was for 12 ppl. WE had a mom stay to help sence she noticed there was'nt a host. We were told she would be charged the child admission. Which did not happen. When we went up to complain at the end of the party, The manger argued about the point we were not supposed to have a host with the packege and in fact relooked at the coupon we purchased and then realized we were. Didnt seem to care that our drinks came half way into the party, with no ice and flat. Mmm hot soda yummy!! Then he just pretty much blew us off and another employee at the front started being rude and told us we should have not had the party there for our child if we were so unsatisfied. He just kept making rude remarks and the manger didnt care that his employee was being that way to us. I would recommend NOT having your party there for that kind of price you have to pay!! Very Disappointed!! Cons: Don't Do the Birthday Package there! more

It's only a preview! 8/30/2005

This is not the whole aquarium, which won't be finished for 3-4 years. This is a tast of what's to come. This fact is not made clear when you enter or pay your admission, the staff seemed unknowledgeable about the details, and the TV advertising and banners at the Gateway are misleading in this respect. I paid for a year's membership ($20)without knowing this until I had completed the visit. This is still a deal if you go more than 3 times a year. I work downtown and can see myself going there on my lunch breaks for an escape. Hopefully the exhibits will change occasionally over a year - otherwise I may not renew. Pros: escape from reality, cool and dark, interesting Cons: misleading, limited hours, staff ignorance more

Small and Overpriced, but still interesting 7/8/2005

I went to this aquarium for the first time and was surprised at how small it is. However, it is not everyday that you can touch a starfish, sea cucumber and sting ray! I paid $7 for adult admission and $4 for my daughter. Given the size of this place, it seemed excessive. They had about 10 tanks. One was large with sharks in it. There was a large aquarium that you could touch sting rays in and a simulation of driving a ""boat"" around the Salt Lake. The location, at the Gateway, was great! After going to the aquarium, we went and played in the Olympic Fountain. My daughter had a fun time (although it took her awhile to want to touch the sting ray...). It was fun to check out, but I probably won't return until the permanent (hopefully larger) site opens up. Pros: sting ray tank, location (Gateway), variety of fish Cons: no free parking, overpriced, small more
