Super friendly barman, who is genuinely Irish (and I should know as I am Scottish!), great food, Stella on tap, what more could you ask for. My only regret is that this place used...

GREAT FOOD 3/31/2006

I just moved to the neighborhood and wednesday evening i joined a group of friends at Liberties for dinner. The food was exceptional and the service was great, i have to recommend the Samosa and the fish & chips are to perfection. The group all are still talking about the food and what an enjoyable evening we all had! more

great spin on average food... 3/27/2006

I just ate lunch here for the first time and was pleasantly surprised. Having eaten here for dinner before and being disappointed, I was reluctant to being dragged here by my girlfriend again. I ordered the fish n' chips this time and my girl ordered a panini...expecting the food to be as good as the menu described (sucky), I was so happy to see that the fish n' chips were excellently seasoned....the panini was warm, seasoned to perfection and melted in our mouths...I'm not sure what sauce came on the turkey sandwich, but it was worth getting. The service was also warm, friendly and had great attitude. Whoever the new chef is, keep him/her!!! We'll be back. Pros: good lunch food Cons: tacky menu more

Don't go for the food 3/18/2006

I agree with one of the other reviewers. The last time I ate at Liberties several years go the food was good and had gotten a good review. I also live in the neighborhood. Anyway, I had lunch here today (3/06). My friend and I were totally disappointmented in the food. I had fish and chips. It was served on the cold side. My girlfriend's hamburger didn't taste that great either. The restaurant was somewhat busy and there were no bussers. The waiters were expected to do everything. I don't think it's a good idea to be cleaning and then serving food. Not sure how much hand washing was done. Also they seemed to be understaffed, so service was slow but it wasn't the waiter's fault. Anyway, I don't recommend eating here. Probably just a good place to have a beer. Pros: atmosphere, beer Cons: food more

It's a gamble. 3/12/2006

I've lived in the area for quite some time and have seen this place go through many, many different staff members. Some are good, great even, and then there are the others. If you catch this place in the right month the service and the food are well worth a visit. I can say, however, that I've never been disappointed with a pint in this place. The bar staff somehow manages to always be good. Your best bet is to walk in, have a pint at the bar, check out the people seated or even ask some about the service and then make your decision to either stay for food or move on. Pros: atmosphere, bartenders, location Cons: food prices, service more

A cozy place for a bite 2/9/2006

Great atmosphere in this Irish bar with entertaining bartenders. The food is decent and comforting. Perfect for a meal with your buddies or even a date. Always have a good time when I happen into the place. Never need a reservation and the staff is always happy to have you. A consistant place I will continue to patronize. Pros: Atmosphere, service, bar more

Christmas Party 12/11/2005

I just had my Christmas party here on Saturday and it was certainly one to remember. The food was amazing and the service was so friendly and the setting was perfect. I highly reccommend this establishment for that special occassion and frequently arrange special events at the Liberties - the management are so helpfull! more

Disappointing 10/3/2005

After hearing varied reports on this establishment I decided to try it out for myself. Thursday evening, diner with guest. Greeted by rude manageress (transpired to be owner). Seated in draught. Food was below average and service was nonexistant. Will not be going back, Irish or not. Pros: none to think off. Cons: rude staff, poor service, poor ambience more
