Hardest way to spend my money! 5/3/2009

I bought $1000+ worth of outdoor furniture here today, and it was the WORST experience, ever! First, there was no one in the display area to help me. Secondly, when I asked for help, they acted as if they couldn't be bothered... I had to wait several minutes before the Garden Dept supervisor, Trish, communicated with Kimmie (working in Customer Service, of all places!) about what to do to get the chaise lounge I wanted, in addition to the rest of the furniture. Kimmie was obviously in over her head, or was a new hire, b/c she couldn't do anything without being on the phone to Trish. I swiped my card, signed the slip, and asked about delivery - that's when the real fireworks began. Suffice to say that altho Trish is a dept head, she has zero power to negotiate (unlike Kevin the Store Manager who saved the day). I think in this current economic climate that store managers need to emphasize at a staff meeting just how many choices of Big Box stores customers like me have, and that it really does come down to how well one is treated. Me, I'll shop Lowe's from now on. Pros: had what I wanted Cons: TERRIBLE customer service! more

Good Customer Service 10/29/2008

Bucking the trend of lousy or non-existent service at big box retailers, Kathleen and Slade at this Home Depot were very helpful with a logistics problem around our storm door installation. They not only made the deal work, but things happened exactly as they promised. An unusually happy experience. more

no on carpet or install 12/6/2007

I have friends that purchased carpet & install here. They were so unhappy with the whole experience. They said it wasn't worth the little savings. Carpet in over 1 month after ordering. Bad install, bad seams in a couple of places, etc...\r \r I said next time to use my guy's - check out reviews under - search- type in Extract Away in Portland. They are great - they sell flooring at a contractor store. I saved the same if not a bit more! I am telling people everywhere because it irritates me - you get what you pay for- sheesh!! It's hard to find someone good but when you do - you should share! He cleans carpet GREAT too!!!! more

Where Low Prices = Zero Customer Support 2/5/2007

My experience at this Home Depot has been the standard with every other...Lucky to find an employee to answer questions, and when I finally do they usually don't know enough to help. Its also not worth your time to call for information. I tried calling the Flooring Dept. from home and was repediatly hung up on. I tried getting in touch with customer service at the store and was simply redirected back to the flooring dept. at which time I was hung up on again. I then called the main customer service line, and was given a different 800 number to call. When I called the new number, it rang out, and then I got a busy signal. Home Depot's prices are definitly very low, but you will sacrifice a lot of customer support by shopping at their stores. My advice to anyone shopping for home and garden goods is to drive to the Lowes that is right next to the Home Depot. The staff is much more welcoming, knowledgable, prices are comparable, and they answer the phones. Pros: Wide Selection of Goods & Low Prices Cons: The Worst Customer Support I've Ever Experienced more

Not my first choice 3/31/2006

The employee's are not very friendly and seem to be too busy to help me when I go in. The store does carry everything but customer service. I wanted to look at a dishwasher and nobody could help me. After waiting 25 minutes, I went some where else. more

Everything you could possibly need for your DIY project 6/8/2005

Need nails, they got them... Need plants? They got those too! Lumber, wire, screws... They have it all! Make sure you bring your cell phone! I always do when I go with my boyfriend. I always seem to lose him in their! PROS: They have it all! CONS: BIG! Easy to get lost in! more
