Best Home Depot I've ever been in. I'm mostly a Lowes man, but this is the closest place to my house in Oakland. The staff actually knows stuff and helps. Amazing really. Parking lot can be nuts but there's always spaces in the back. more

Today I was looking for a replacement part probably $10 for a machine that is made by a company that doesn't even list Home Depot (Emeryville, Ca) on their site as a distributor. In fact they list another company in Berkeley which emphatically stated they are not a distributor. This company referred me to Home Depot (Emeryville). Every staff person at Home Depot (Emeryville) was courteous and helpful and at extension #3 I found a super helpful person who said the company rep in question was on the floor. She said she would call me back (which she did) in 1/2 hour and gave me the phone of the area distributor of my machine. How more helpful can this be? more

Expos are closing down! 3/13/2009

The Home Depot Expos are closing their doors and you'll be surprised at how much stuff you normally find in regular HD found in expo. And they are all 40% off, not a bad deal at all. more

HOME DEPOT Emeryville, CA - GHETTO! 4/11/2007

This is the worst Home Depot I have visited. When trying to get paint the man who helped us was very visually upset that he was pulled away from a chatty conversation with other employees who were lounging around on patio furniture. To make things worse he mixed the wrong paint then got upset with me for pointing it out and more or less called me a liar. All I wanted to do was get out of there so I didn't push the issue. Another person showed up who identified himself as the department manager only after they had a conversation directly in front of me about how I was making up a story about having them mix the wrong paint. It was very odd. I felt like I was some hidden video t.v. show. As my friend I were getting ready to leave after having our second batch of paint mixed another two customers walked up who happened to be African American. The man who was helping us was also African American. He seemed to greet these new customers with a smile and helpful disposition. This ma more

Cheap but Not Worth It 6/8/2005

The main reason to go to Home Depot is for their low price. If buying large amounts of lumber, bricks, soil, etc. this very well might be worth it. But if you are just looking for a few smaller items, your local hardware store is probably the place to go. The Emeryville Home Depot looks like all the other Home Depot's in the country. They lack decent customer service and do not provide help with finding items - they instead have large vague signs posted over every aisle. They seem to be geared towards people who visit there every weekend and know exactly what they need and where to find it. For the rest of us, though, who need a little help figuring out what we need, a smaller friendlier hardware store would be better. PROS: huge selection, good gardening section CONS: bad customer service, hard to browse more

Love/Hate 5/21/2005

Home Depot's the place when I'm looking for something to help with my DIY stuff - home repairs (ha ha), making a robot costume, or finding specialty light bulbs. It's inspring walking up and down the giant aisles looking at all the possibilities. The downside to this Home Depot? Everyone else loves coming here - it's a crowded madhouse, particularly on the weekends. It gets so crowded that people get a little aggro. I never go here on the weekends. Ever. PROS: It's a typical HD - no surprises here. CONS: It's toooo crowded and crazy! more
