We live at The Heritage in Boca Raton and experienced a leak in our walls over a month ago. Since then, we have filled out multiple maintenance requests, emailed and called the leasing office excessively, and followed up with them in person regarding the issue without any results. A "green mold like substance" now infests the guest bathroom of our apartment, which is also home to the office I use when I work from home. There have been numerous scheduled dates in which workers were supposed to come and resolve the issue, but no one ever came. Finally, when we contacted The Heritage's regional manager, repairs began. Since then, my husband and I have grown ill, had to temporarily move out of the apartment, miss work, and go through an overall inconvenience dealing with this incompetently managed issue. If they would have taken care of this matter when it was presented originally, none of this would be happening.
Meeting with the regional manager was absolutely useless. She refused to recognize the fact that there was a possibility that mold was infiltrating through our apartment. With a condescending remark, she proclaimed that the "green mold like substance" was adhesive. We have pictures and videos to prove otherwise. Furthermore, WE had to request that a specialist come in to diagnose her so-called 'adhesive'. After inspection, they proclaimed that it was most likely old, dried up mold living under the sink. From there, the regional manager tried to undermine our intelligence by claiming the specialist stated the condition of the apartment was 'undetermined', which couldn't have been farther from the truth as we were standing right next to him during his inspection.
Unfortunately, it looks like this is just the beginning of an ongoing problem between the truth and the regional management of this community. If she would had been the least bit hospitable and understanding, we wouldn't be taking legal action.
