Editorial review from Citysearch 2/16/2013

Rude service and no sense of customer service - my caretaker and son were turned away because she could not sign the forms. When i tried to resolve it over the phone, the service was rude and the director was not willing to find a solution with me. Never again Gym Park, judging by the comments here, many people before me have encountered the rude staff. more

Rude Owner 1/23/2012

We live nearby and usually avoid going here because the owner is such a rude man. The space is nice and can be fun if you go with a friend, but any dealings with Peter make us want to stay far, far away. He has a habit of opening the ""Open Play"" late because he's not there yet, and closing it down 15 minutes early while demanding repeatedly that his customers clean up the space for him. Meanwhile, he is happy enough to take your money for the full 2 hours that it lists on the schedule. Good option for winter, but otherwise, steer clear and spend your money in a place where people are happy to have you. more

Terrible Location 3/5/2011

Gymnastics classes are nothing special. The location is terrible. If I had lived next door, it would be OK. But to drive there, I might as well drive to a better gym in Williamsburg or Long Island City. more

The best gymnastics is at Gym Park 11/3/2010

Gym Park is a beautirul space -- well equiped and spacious. Peter is a fabulous teacher -- not only for little kids but for teens andtweens. He is teaching my daughter and I've been really impressed with his attention, support, and encouragement to learn. We are lucky to have this place here in Greenpoint! more

Excellent fun for kids! 10/23/2010

This is a large, very well lit kids gym with very high ceilings and an airy feel. It is the largest kids gym we have seen in Brooklyn and Queens. The emphasis is really on ""gym,"" i.e. they also have serious equipment that will appeal to kids older than 4 years. The place feels very creative, the music has a nice beat to eat, and the owners are friendly and personable. The emphasis on serious equipment and lots of music instruments like pianos, guitars, etc. indicate that GymPark offers a lot more than your standard playroom. Going to Greenpoint from Williamsburg, Long Island City or Astoria is a short ride on the bus which is a major attraction and adventure for our son. You can really make a nice half day out of riding the bus to Greenpoint, attending a class or the conveniently scheduled mid-morning Open Play at GymPark and taking in everything Greenpoint has to offer: artsy cafes, a great community bookstore, hip shopping. more

Great tumbling/gymnastics/play space for kids! 10/23/2010

Our 2-year-old son takes a tumbling class here on Saturday mornings, and it is terrific! The space and equipment are new/clean, and a fun place for kids to learn skills from basic balance and coordination, to bars and rings and balance beam. Dave is our son's teacher, and he is great with the toddlers -- plays guitar, sets up challenging and creative ""obstacle courses,"" and makes learning new skills fun and rewarding for the kids. I highly recommend this place for kids of all ages -- for classes or just ""open play."" more

The owner is rude & does not know how to deal with children 8/22/2010

This gym would be a great resource for the neighborhood were it not for the owner. When we went, he was disorganized, distracted, short tempered, and had no concept of customer service or, indeed, even many social skills. My daughter, a young toddler, was chastised for eating in the wrong area...not the gym floor, mind you, but off of the mats. She wasn't eating anything messy, either, but some cheerios and a sippy-cup of water. He was so rude we never returned again, in spite of having just paid for a year's membership. He humiliated us in front of the other customers (we were only one three families there at the time), and asked me to move my things while I was in the middle of changing her diaper. This man needs to learn some serious professionalism before this business can or should flourish. more

Gym Park Perfection! 8/4/2010

The Gym Park is a fantastic addition to the Greenpoint area. The gym floor offers a wide span of activities ranging from high level competitive gymnastics to pre-school play for the early childhood ages. As a competitive gymnast and coach, I was thoroughly impressed by Peter Lattanzio's (owner and Head Coach) technical knowledge of the sport and his teaching abilities. Following my tumbling lesson, I was amazed to see him teach a fun-filled class with 3-5 year old boys and girls. I am now a current member of the Gym Park and take classes once a week and have seen fantastic results as far as my physical abilities. Although the gym is not completely finished, Peter and his crew seem to be working non-stop to improve the aesthetics of the facility as well as adding new gymnastic equipment for to keep the gym exciting. I RECOMMEND ALL TO COME IN AND TAKE A CLASS!!! more

A place to flip over 6/26/2010

A new and up coming gym in Brooklyn.. A child friendly gym for the child in all of us,. but it does not stop there. Want to have a party for your child, well you have come to the right place. Awesome! Good luck to the owner and gymnast himself. more

A treasure found in Brooklyn 6/17/2010

Upon first entering Gym Park, my 4 yo son and I were met with a friendly welcome mat from Peter. I signed my son up for the free play time, and he did not stop running, jumping, tumbling, or playing for the next two hours! The facility is equipped with everything needed for any gymnast. The atmosphere is relaxed and inviting. I don't plan on putting my old bones through any of the adult classes offered, (which do seem like a whole lot of fun), but as far as my child is concerned, I look forward to introducing him to the classes and space as much as I can. Pros: All facilitiy, schedules, location. Cons: Public transportation. more

How I spell Gym Park: Excellence 6/16/2010

Peter is a great instructor with endless ideas and training methods. From toddlers to adults the Gym Park is a place for learning and bettering yourself. I have taken the adult gymnastics class, the urban tumbling class and the acrobatic silks class and i learned new things each and every time i stepped foot in the gym. Pros: Great space, great instructor, always changing. more

BIG THINGS COME IN SMALL PACKAGES!!! 6/16/2010

A childs mind is like an empty memory box- whatever you feed to his/her mind will be stored into his/her memory. That is why it is so important that children are fed the stimulation needed for healthy brain development... and The Gym Park does just that by contributing to children's physical, emotional and intellectual development! Don't be fooled by the Gym's moderately small appearance either.... It offers a variety of classes that Im confident will not disappoint and you will always leave The Gym Park with positive and valuable experiences! I work as a Nanny for two children ages 2 and 6. I have brought them to The Gym Park many times for the Drop-In Sessions and have never witnessed a more entranced group of children. They absolutely love it!!! It's not hard to understand why.. Peter Lattanzio, Director of The Gym Park creates such a wonderful atmosphere and I am privileged to write in support of Peter and The Gym Park. His passion for what he does is radiating and can be easily observed in how he interacts with the children and parents. He displays strong ethics, persistence and a high level of intellectual intregrity- The perfect role model! Pros: EVERYTHING... GO AND SEE FOR YOURSELF! Cons: YOU WON'T WANT TO LEAVE!!! :) more

the best gym ever check it out 6/15/2010

A place your kids will LOVE!! 6/14/2010

The gym park is the place to be. Very welcoming place where kids can learn gymnastics while having lots of fun. I have two daughters that attend weekly sessions and they LOVE it. It is great for them physically and the owner, Peter enjoys what he does which can be seen with the way he handles the children. Their smiling faces tell the whole story. And the fact that my girls keep reminding me when its gymnastics says to me that we will continue coming back. Pros: Spacious, Lots of Equipment Cons: Daughters think they are gymnastic pros already :) more

Greenpoint Gymnastics 6/14/2010

We were thrilled to find Gym Park. We have two kids in a weekly class and have watched them improve continuously since they began. Peter is an excellent coach and motivator. At first our kids didn't want to go, but after seeing the space and getting some free play time, they were hooked. The Gym Park provides a safe place for our kids to exercise and have fun at the same time. It's even better that it's within walking distance from both home and school. Pros: great coaching, professional equipment, the location more

We Love The Gym Park 6/14/2010

My two sons love the Gym Park on days when the weather doesn't permit going to the park, which in New York happens often! I know they also have classes but I have not tried them. The owners and other parents there are friendly and it has a great atmosphere. We would go there more often but they have limited hours for open play on the weekends. When they do have open play it's only for a one-hour window so it's easy to miss. Also, the space (specifically the bathroom) was not completely built out when I was there and it was a bit like a construction site. That said I would still highly recommend the space, your kids will love it. Pros: Close by, great equipment Cons: Limited hours, space is a bit raw more

Great place for a toddler to tumble! 6/14/2010

If you're looking for a safe fun environment for your toddler to jump, tumble, and explore, this is the place! We've been several times with our almost 2 year old and I know that it's a rainy day staple for our nanny. Our daughter is too young for any structured classes, but from what I hear they are great and the owner is very friendly and welcoming! Pros: Affordable, great for a rainy day, great owner more

Gym Park Rocks! 6/12/2010

The Gym Park has been a great experience for my daughter who is diagnosed with an Autism Spectrum Disorder (ASD). The owner, Peter, has been VERY accommodating by providing a welcoming, inclusive, warm, and challenging environment. He is a natural at engaging her and teaching her gymnastic instructions just as he would any other typical developing child. Because Peter is so dedicated, my daughter responds with great enthusiasm and focus. Whether your child has a neurological disorder or not, they will definitely have FUN learning, exercising, and even laughing at The Gym Park! Pros: Spacious, lots of equipment, and easy parking Cons: Limited weekend classes; no special needs group (YET) more

Become a part of the GymPark family! 6/12/2010

The GymPark is a wonderful place to take your kids for a fun jump-in session of active play or professional instruction in gymnastics. Don't confuse this with a gym club, it's more of a gym family! Pete (the owner) is friendly, approachable, and simply amazing with children. He'll have you and your kids smiling and laughing as soon as you enter the building. Take a moment to check it out. The GymPark has programs for all ages, including adults! Pros: It embodies everything I love about active play! Cons: Its a small space with BIG ideas more
