The Elephant Walk is an elegant and comfortable restaurant serving both French and Cambodian dishes. The culinary standards are high and the tastes are often unique.
We've been going to Elephant Walk for more than 10 years - ever since they first opened in the basement of a building in Somerville's Union Square. The restaurant has always been popular. In fact, you might call it a local culinary phenomenon. It has spawned several cookbooks and it offers its own cooking classes.
Our family tends to go for the Cambodian side of the menu - partly because the Cambodian dishes are relatively inexpensive and partly because we're addicted. One item in particular - Curry de Légumes ($12.95 as of February '06) - is highly recommended. It's unique, quintessential Elephant Walk cooking - and we CRAVE it!
The spring rolls (Rouleaux) are the family-favorite appetizer. In addition to being delicious, they provide a nice activity for the kids (some assembly requried).
Sadly, unlike the Brookline branch, the Elephant in Cambridge is not open for lunch.
