Name:
The Burgundy Room
Location:
The hipster/artsy/funky/fashionable "Short North". If crowds aren't your thing, don't even bother if it's a "Gallery hop" weekend. On this cold Sunday eve, tables were plentiful.
Theme:
Columbus' typical casual, sophisticated style.
Parking:
Metered street parking or one of the nearby microscopic lots that will never be empty so don't even bother if its Friday or Saturday.
Decor:
Ample, warm and dim. Tasteful, low-key furnishings. Plenty of nooks and crannies, a central couch and fireplace(?), along with the usual four-top table arrangements.
Menu:
Tapas style (wide variety of easy to share mini-plates). Slightly unusual for Columbus' mid-western values (and appetites)? Big eaters might need a few plates. A full bar, wine list, dessert wines, etc., but no expresso!?
Wait-staff:
Helpful, friendly, retiring
Price:
Upper-middle tier pricing. Remember lard-ass, all those little dishes can add up! Wine-$6-$17, Plates-$6-$18
Recommendations:
The mid-range Pinot-noir, inexpensive Chardonnay, Tuna tartar, Pulled duck w/cheese tortellini, Warm hummus spread, squash soup and Pistachio cheesecake.
