THE ABSOLUTE BEST 5/13/2006

The best darn lunch spot in all of Seattle area. I can not say enough good things about this place, I have been a loyal customer of theirs for YEARS. Terry and Angel the owners are good good people and their food is fantastic! I highly reccommend the hot pastrami with a side of tomato bisque btw. Best meatball and roast beef and gravy ever!!! Great value and the people there are soooo nice. I highly recommend this place. Beware, this isn't fast food or subway, sometimes it takes a while to get your food. If you're tight on time, call ahead, if not, sit down, relax, and wait for your great grinder!! Favorite Seattle Spot 6/8/2005

Definitely one of my top spots in Seattle for food. I'm so thrilled that they changed locations right next to my apartment building! I'll definitely have to try one of their breakfast sandwiches one more before I head out for work. My all time favorite sandwich has to be the cajun turkey, but I still haven't tried them all! The employees are all killer. This is exactly the type of friendly folks you expect to meet in Seattle. I haven't met Angel (one of the owners), but Terry is awesome. You should stop next door at the Galway arms and buy him a beer after he makes you one of his killer sandwiches! Pros: Best sandwiches, Great Price, Friendly employees more

Best sandwich I've ever eaten. 6/18/2004

It's hard to wax rhapsodic about a sandwich. But if there's a single human being who can make you do it, it's Terry at the Brooklyn Grinder. There are 99% of restaurants, and then there are those few places you never forget because you can't believe how good this thing is you've put in your mouth. Some things on my list: 1)Sea mussels cooked in wine and creme fraiche, on the Normandy coast 2)Confit de Canard and pate served by a dizzyingly beautiful woman in a tiny restaurant in the Perigord 3)My first Reuben sandwitch at the Brooklyn Grinder in Seattle. If #3 looks out of place you haven't had one of Terry's sandwiches. That may sond a little corny, but it's no less sincere. [If it were me I'd try the Reuben or the Italian...] Pros: Inexpensive, Friendly, The food! more

As a transplanted east coaster, I say WOW! My senses are home sick. The owner is personable and energetic, the aromas spread up and down the street, and the food... fagettaboudit! We threw a going away office party for a coworker last week. I drove from Olympia to Seattle and back for a large (office sized) order of all things Brookland Grinder, almost everyone in my office asked me for directions. I've tried to describe the New York deli experience to my NW friends for years, now I can show them first hand. Thank you Grinder! Pros: Food/Coffee, Service, Authentisity Cons: ?... what cons? more

This place IS GRINDER!!! 7/2/2003

The Grinder is one of the last great sandwich shops, and the owners, Terry and Angel are people of the highest quality, endeavoring to bring us the warmth and personality of a small town, the quality of a gourmet deli, and prices aimed at us working stiffs and ""starving students"". Despite their size, they recently catered a banquet of 350 sandwiches without a hitch. Just when you think it can't get any better you try the coffee. If the sandwiches weren't so good, we might notice that they're serving up some of the best coffee in seattle. Those familiar with the ""Batdorf & Bronson"" name know what i'm talkng about. Try one of their mochas while waiting for your next sandwich order and see if you don't find yourself there every morning. Bravo you guys. You are doing a wonderful service to us here in the land of ""starbucks"". Pros: Incredible prices, Incredible service, Incredible food and c Cons: huh? more

Seattle's best kept sandwich secret! 7/2/2003

I love this place! The sandwiches are made to order with real meats and cheeses. And these guys don't scrimp. For less than what you would pay at Subway, you can get a much better sandwich and a much better over all experience. This little sandwich shop on Brooklyn is well worth your money. The owner introduced himself, served us, and was very friendly. Everything I've ever ordered there has been excellent, especially the Roast Beef with Country Gravy sandwich. A ton of meat is piled on to any sandwich you order. The Brooklyn Grinder is highly recommended. Pros: Delicious Food, Inexpensive, Good portion size Cons: Small space more

Just A Sandwich Shop? No Way.. =) 2/20/2003

This is no ordinary deli sandwich shop. Terry knows his business. He has obviously researched and found the finest of ingredients from cities all over. My personal favorite is the New Orleans Muffuletta!!!! YUM! The service is great and you are always made to feel special. Someone usually remembers your favorite! It's a must try and I swear will be one of our favorites! PS choose the potato salad!!! *grin* (other fav's: Italian Grinder, Cajun Turkey, BLT and the Chicken Salad is way YUM!) I can only hope that Terry finds someway to be open on the weekend.. *hint hint* Pros: Food, Service, Location Cons: No weekend hours more

The Grinder has the best sandwiches, made with the best ingredients and served by friendly people. I eat there at least four or five times a week, and I'm usually travelling out of my way to do so. Always worth it! Affordable. For people with good taste. more

The most fabulous cajun turkey you will ever have, and although the chips seem tempting, the potato salad is absolutely wonderful. The environment if friendly and you will not get a better sandwich in Seattle. more

so fabulous! terry makes the best chicken salad i've ever had... so good that every time I vow to try another, it lures me back. i can, however, highly recommend the california chicken and especially the eggplant on foccacia. more
