Thai Orchid

Thankfully my husband and I heard about this restaurant on the radio 4 yrs ago. Our favorite ethnic cuisine is Thai. I would say we're pretty picky about our food, especially my husband as his favorite place to visit is Thailand. Out of all the restaurants in Salt Lake City & surrounding areas, Thai Orchid is our favorite. They have never disappointed us, b/c they are always consistent, the food is always fresh and it always makes our mouths water. I have been so disappointed with other restaurants where they're good from the get go, but then the quality starts deteriorating. I think also you can tell a lot about the cleanliness of the kitchen by visiting their restrooms. Their restrooms and entire restaurant is always spotless. more

Went to Thai Orchid for the first time today. Best Thai lunch I've had in ages. Had the green curry and the pad ga prow. Good and spicy, with wonderful flavors throughout. We ordered takeout. The food was alright. I ordered the Thom Ka Gai and the BBQ Pork. The pork was tough and rather bland. And it was paired with soy sauce? The biggest disappointment was the size of the lunch special. For $7.95, I expected twice as much food. I received a small scoop of rise, maybe 2 cups of soup, a small salad (that was fine), and 5 thumb-sized pieces of pork. All in all, I would have paid $4, possibly as much as $5 for the amount of food I received. Perhaps the portions for dining in are larger? I love this restaurant! It is so good, I have been going there consistently for 2 years now, and I have never been dissapointed. I think that is pretty hard to find, even a lot of my favorite places have off days. Not Thai Orchid. We almost always get Curry Puffs, Green Curry and Pad Thai but I try different things every now and then and they are always good. The staff is so kind to and it is family owned. It is refreshing to go to a business and have the owners know you and be grateful for your patronage. The owner remembered us at our second visit. So the food is exceptional, the service is outstanding and it is very clean. I would highly recommend Thai Orchid to everyone! My partner and I go to Thai Orchid at least once a week. We are greeted by the friendly owner the moment we walk through the door and enjoy starting our meal with an order of chicken satay. The peanut sauce is good, but I prefer the sweet cucumber chutney. For dinner my partner enjoys the gang-panang as spicy as the chef will prepare it. The last time we were there our favorite waiter brought out the shaker of red pepper to make the gang-panang spicier if necessary (which it wasn't). I enjoy trying new dishes each time and have never been disappointed. While the restaurant was closed for about 6 weeks between Christmas and February, we were forced to eat at other Thai restaurants and we always left feeling disappointed. We're so happy Thai Orchid is open again. It is definitely the BEST Thai food (and reasonably priced) in Utah. Everthing we have eaten at this restaurant is WONDERFUL!! Flavorful and beautifully served on glass tabletops. My favorites are the currys - all of them. My husband is trying everything on the menu - he started with the currys and now has started at the beginning of the menu and is working his way through all the items (which is nice because I get to taste everthing he orders and still get to stick to my favorite currys!). You can order your food mild, medium or hot - the hot is very, very spicey! I also highly recommend the Coconut and Green Tea ice creams for dessert. Service is wonderful - timely. friendly (always with a smile) and we are greeted at arrival as though we are beloved family members who have come for a visit! The restrooms and kitchen are spotless!! We try to eat at the Thai Orchid at least once or twice a month (as much as our budget will allow!). I give this restaurant the Highest recommendation!! Pros: Food, Service more
