Best

My favorite restaurant of all time. I hated to see it close again. The dynamics of the populous living in the Antioch area has certainly changed since Texana was open the first ...

Worst

Texana just scored a 59 on the weekly restaurant report. Meat was at the wrong temperature and employees were eating in the kitchen. I have been there once and I was not impressed...

Best fajita's that I have ever had! 6/17/2008

My favorite restaurant of all time. I hated to see it close again. The dynamics of the populous living in the Antioch area has certainly changed since Texana was open the first time. I'm sure this played a role in their decision to pull out. If Texana were relocated the Murfreesboro it would be a huge success. The portions were huge, the food was great, the prices were very reasonable, and the atmosphere was fantastic. Can't say enough good things things about the place. So it the owner is listening...C'MON DOWN TO THE BORO! WE WOULD LOVE TO HAVE YOU! more

Great Food!! 1/13/2008

I hate that this restaurant went out of business again. I absolutely loved the food and the decor. Very rarely did you ever have to wait to be seated. The outdoor seating was awesome when the weather permitted. The only downfall was that the wait staff was sometimes not up to par. I had some great service some nights and some not so great on others. Again I am sad to see this restaurant close its doors again..... Pros: Great food and decor Cons: Bad location and waitstaff on some nights more

Texana Grill has shut down & out of business again 11/13/2007

Texana grill has closed down. It went out of business on 11/04/07.\r \r A victim of the downward spirial in the Hickory Hollow area, and if some reviews posted are true, sloppy management. more

Great food... Great Atmosphere... LOTS of Food 7/21/2007

We went for a birthday dinner to Texana. It was a great dining experience. \r \r The atmosphere was nice & relaxed. We went to eat at 5:30pm on a Saturday and were seated right away. The restaurant was decorated ""Texas"" style... license plates and such. \r \r They began by bringing us the best yeast rolls we've had at a restaurant. They were homemade there at the restaurant and tasted like ""mom used to make."" We started with the appetizer that had spinach dip, queso, and salsa with chips. It was wonderful. The queso was spicy. The spinach dip was the best I've ever had. Salsa was ok, a bit hot for my taste. \r \r We ate a variety of entrees. Everyone enjoyed their dinner. Portion sizes were large. I highly recommend the fajitas. Three of us ordered them. The steak and chicken (w/the fajitas) was very very tender. The brisket they used seemed to be cooked like I remember it when growing up in Texas. I was impressed. My son basically inhaled the ribs. He said they were very good and were close to melting in your mouth. My husband ordered the salmon. He, too, said it was great. \r \r We will definitely return... as soon as we can recoop from the enormous amount of food we ate. Pros: Large Portions, Great Food Cons: Found no drawbacks more

Wouldn't recommend 5/23/2007

Texana just scored a 59 on the weekly restaurant report. Meat was at the wrong temperature and employees were eating in the kitchen. I have been there once and I was not impressed with their food at all. I was very disappointed actually because I read several good reviews about it before going. You definitely shouldn?t go there to have a peaceful dinner. When I was there I sat upstairs on the open patio and the music was so loud I couldn?t hear anything my boyfriend was saying right across from me. I wouldn?t recommend this place for dates. There is nothing romantic about it whatsoever. It?s more family oriented. I would recommend going to Texas Roadhouse instead. Texas Roadhouses food is great, good atmosphere, exceptional service, and very clean. It was my boyfriend?s birthday and I just felt horrible afterwards. I wanted it to be a special dinner and it was no where close to being special. more

Good Service and a lot of food for your money! 4/28/2007

This was our first time to this restaurant. We decided to sit upstairs where they had the windows opened up. I would recommend setting downstairs; there were a lot of bees flying around upstairs since the windows that were open had no window screens. As for the food, there was plenty. We ordered the appetizer of fried pickles which was very good. Then we ordered our main course. I ordered the Salmon and roasted potatoes which were very good and the salmon was tender. My girlfriend ordered the fried catfish with mash potatoes. The catfish that she ordered tasted very fishy. It tasted more like the ?muddy water catfish? type catfish. But her side dishes were good. Overall the restaurant was clean and very much of a Texas type ambience. Good restaurant, but we probably won?t be back due to the location and parking situation of the restaurant. Pros: Really good Service, great appitizers, Texas style atmosphere. Cons: Location and very tight Parking more

Great Specials 4/19/2007

We went to Texana Grill last Thurday and got the Fajita Rita Special & it was awesome. We both had margarita's and had more fajita's than we could eat, for just 19.95. I think that was like saving $8.00 or something like that. Take home boxes are wonderful! It was a fun atmosphere with live music ... everyone around looked as if they were having a great time, servers, bartenders and customers. We had such a fun time, I believe we will go back again tonight! The margarita's in my opinion were the best around, however we ended our meal with a Texas Twister & it was really good too!!! I would recommend this grill to anyone, it has a Texas feel & true tex-mex taste! Pros: great food, great atmosphere, great portions, great price more

THE BEST of TEXAS!!! 4/7/2007

We moved here from Houston, and it is GREAT to get true TexMex - plus the Texas atmosphere, the food and the GREAT service make us regulars. At LEAST 3x a month we are there, more if the budget allows. Try the queso...it is TexMex style (made with yellow cheese instead of white like at Mexican restaurants here). PLUS they have SHINER on tap and you can get LONE STAR beer! Pros: Service, Food, Atmosphere more

great food ,great customer service and great prices 3/23/2007

great, great and great and you will love it , when you order your food it is enough to feed two so you really can have a great time because you are going to save so money and the food is excellent more

The best! 8/9/2006

This is my wife and I's favorite restaurant in Nasvhille. the Spinach dip is the best around and the mesquite grilled flavor that permeates all of their dishes is not to miss. You can't find food like this anywhere else in town. I'd be comfortable telling families with young kids to go as long as they get their no later than 5. Much past 6:30 and you will have to wait with the throngs. It may not be that bad right now since they just reopened in April, but once people start hearing about this more it will be the hot spot it was before they had to shut down because the owner needed some time in Texas before his girls went off to college (read that in the Nashville City Paper 8/4/06-I don't know him, that's just what I read). We always get the fajitas that with the salsa, queso, and spinach dip. The crowd is very diverse. The staff is second to none. And the food is second to none of its kind. If you like Barbeque, mexican, tex mex, or grilled steaks, this is the place to be! Pros: FOOD, SERVICE Cons: Long wait if you go late - I go early more

Great food, huge portions, wonderful atmosphere. 8/6/2006

We were vacationing and discovered this place by accident. We were so impressed that we returned the next night also. If you have a large party try the tailgate party special. They say it is food for 4 but it will easily feed 5-6. Everything was fresh. The ribs are excellent and bar-b-q sauce is excellent. Pros: Great food with large portions Cons: It's loud but it is because of a large happy crowd. more
