Rudest place to dine in 11/20/2007

This was the worst Japanese Restaurant I have ever been in for over 20 years. I am a mother of 2 toddlers and am currently pregnant. As usual when my family dines out especially with toddlers, who have their hands on everything and spill their food out of their plates, I clean the table which we are going to eat at. From all my experiences dining out I have seen many gross and perfect areas as for cleanliness. I have seen waiters cleaning the table after table using the same rags and never rinsing them. I have also seen rags which where used to clean someplace around the restaurant used to clean the tables. As a result of this I am a very cautious when I go out with my children to eat out. This is the 3rd time I had eaten in this Bento Box in Renton. The first time was nothing unusual. The 2nd time the table which was available was messy and was not wiped. The 3rd time although the table was clean there was a fork on the window seal. I cleaned the table with my hand sanitizer and used the napkins that I had brought as a pad for my children's plate. After prepaying for my meal and the food was brought to the table I asked the waitress if I could please have another plate for my son and she turned her back on me while I was still talking. The next incident was when I had ordered at the front counter for a take out for my grandmother and the hostest asked me if I was Chinese. What a weird question but as a common courtesy I answered, yes I am (Chinese American Citizen). After hearing my answer she immediately spoke in her language to a man in a non-friendly manner , backed up at the counter staring at me with her hands folded on her chest. The man approached me. He then said for me to not clean the table because they clean the table already and it is clean. Well, the term clean is not the same for everyone especially during the cold and flu season. I had explained to them that I did not know that I was not supposed to clean my own table which we were going to eat at after all there was no sign. Plus I do it in every restaurant that I go to fancy or not and no restaurant has ever had a problem with it after all it is the comfort of the customer that is supposed to be what a restaurants concern is right? During this incident I felt hurt that I was being corrected after paying this restaurant over 30.00 for that night and I felt angry that they were racist. The question if "I was Chinese" and the series of events that had occurred after that has made me feel that they were judging me of my ethnicity. This restaurant is absolutely the worst I have ever gone to, I hope when you select your dining for tonight that you think about what kind of experience you would want to have before you eat at this restaurant. more

yummy, yummy I got love in my tummy! 8/20/2006

just like everybody else i'm a teriyaki-anything junkie. there's so many teriyaki places in this state so it's pretty hard to choose just one to love and to cherish. however, after years of teriyaki-consumption i am proud to announce Teriyaki Box at the Renton Fred Meyer Center has ensnared my heart and my stomach. first up, i used to be a rabid carnivore (i recently gave up my year-long vegetarianism to eat my beloved northwest salmon) and Teriyaki Box whips up the best Chicken Katsu and Chicken Teriyaki anywhere. the portions are huge too, every entree comes with 2 cups of rice and a side salad (with their super yummy dressing). i've recently tried their salmon teriyaki and i can't get enough of it. the teriyaki sauce is judiciously served so you're food's not drowning in teriyaki sauce to cover up overcooked or bland meat. the salmon's great without the teriyaki sauce too. i've been a devoted customer for years and although the management has changed a few times the quality of the food and the service has remained faithfully the same... (while you're in the neighborhood don't forget to try Pabla (just a few steps away) next time) more

Average sushi, great teriyaki and katsu 8/31/2005

The fun part of eating here is watching the cook's stir up dish after dish with ease. They provide a well-balanced meal -- meat, rice, soup and salad and fresh vegetables for a decent price. They have many magazines on hand if eating alone. Each meal is cooked freshly. Never had anything bad. more
