BEST EVER!!! 4/19/2010

Don't ever consider a review like the previous, it's fake. This place blew me away: The second my wife & I walked in, we were quickly greeted & seated which surprised me because the lot was nearly full. I was quickly overcome by the authenticity of this true Italian restaurant.\r I expected the usual soup & salad but was flabbergasted by the all you can eat "antipasto" salad bar that comes with your dinner. That's a meal in itself! Be prepared to take food home.\r One measure of a truly authentic Italian restaurant is the type of people in it. Several groups that came in were very Italian looking & once we saw that we knew we had finally found our new favorite Italian restaurant. I hesitate, but we joked some of them looked mafia. wosrt dinner ever 6/22/2008

cheapest ingredients on the entire menu. does everything come frozen? the manaccotti was so small I had to order another entree. The sauces on both dishes had marinara that I think they just add sugar to make it taste better. Try buying some quallity ingredients and dont just be a price hunter and the quallity can go back up.Im sorry to be so hard on you but that minastroni that someone has to have 2 bowls of I bet It comes out of a can. I've had it to and it ok but far from homeade. more

Every time my father and I decide to take a trip to Tahoe a stop at Teps is a must. Their antipasti bar is large enough to satisfy and their minestrone soup is a must to have. (i have about 2 bowls for a starter). Their lasagna is among the best I've ever had only second to the homemade batch straight from and Italian grandmother. My father is a chef at the Hyatt Hotel in Sf so he knows his way around a good plate of food. The place is family owned and has a cozy atmosphere to it not cramped but i guess that depends on how much room you need. I agree their cheesecake isn't the best but their canoli is a pretty safe and tasty bet to go with. You want good Italian food there's no place but Teps to go. more

Worst Italian I've Ever Had... 7/20/2007

If this is the best Italian in town, it makes me wonder about the other places. Maybe it's because we went on July 4th, but I had a very disappointing experience. Tep's was totally packed, mostly with large family groups, so service was slow. The tables are very close to each other, which was a little uncomfortable.\r I got the Veal Saltimbocca. Well, the sauce was very tasty, however the veal itself I had to struggle hard to cut and it had quite a bit of gristle throughout, which at $18, should not have been the case. It came with a tiny bowl of spaghetti marinara, which was badly overcooked, watery, and the marinara was flavorless. Food portions were a little small. The salad bar had tasty options, but it was dirty, with lots of poorly washed and bruised lettuce. They ran out of tiramisu, which just might have saved the experience, just before we ordered. What a Pleasant Surprise! 7/26/2006

When we went to Teps it was undergoing a renovation. But somehow the staff worked around it all and were very attentive. The interior is older and reminds me of the cheesy italian restaurants of the 70's. Very stereotypical.\r \r But it's not the decor you come here for.....it's about the food! Everything we ordered was fabulous. I tried one of the daily specials called Chicken Rolletini. Basically it's like a rolled up chicken parmigiana filled with ricotta, spinach and proscuitto. It was excellent!!! My husband had the meat lasagna which was also excellent.\r \r Large portinos and attentive staff. Excellent Italian Food! more
