Best Sandwiches! 8/5/2007

Fabulous Cafe. The lines are usually long, but it goes very quickly, and it's great because they make your food right when you order it, so it's quick and fresh. The ahi tuna sandwich was fantastic, the tuna was seared and had the bell peppers that come on the sandwich have great flavors. The portions are pretty big, and you get a choice of 5 side salads to accompany your sandwich, which gives you some variety. The atmosphere of the cafe is great too, very cute and comfortable. Will recommend it to anyone! Pros: Food, ambience, everything! Cons: Long lines more

Fantastic everytime! 7/27/2007

I eat at Tender Greens at least once or twice a week. Tonight I had the Romaine simple salad w/ Grilled Salmon. Can you say fantastic!!! I can't wait until the grill salmon is in the menu again. If you haven't tried Tnder Greens yet, you are missing out. See you next week,\r Elestine :-) more

Healthy and Tasty! 7/17/2007

I went to Tender Greens on a Sunday night when I needed a fresh healthy start to my week! The grilled steak salad was delicious and their specialty gazpacho soup was excellent. Next time I want to try their hot plates, they looked really tasty. Pros: Fresh Cons: Not organic more

Quick & cheap yet awesome food 7/12/2007

Ever want great food but not in the mood to go to a fancy restaurant and have a big tab? I've been to Tender Greens twice and just love the casual fresh delicious food. Salads are awesome espeically if you lot a massive amount of......tender greens. Pros: Good healthy & delicious Cons: waiting in line but worth the wait more

Decent, but nothing incredible 7/1/2007

Food was decent. I ordered the Ahi tuna Salad and the tuna had no flavor and the salad was just a salad. Definitely go there if you're looking for a healthy meal. To be fair, my friend ordered the Steak Sandwich and they said it was good. My advice, don't order the Ahi. The location is great and the seating is nice outside. Personally, I wouldn't choose to go back there if I had the choice. Pros: Location, atmosphere and healthy food Cons: Ahi Tuna more

Best food and service and decor and atmosphere 6/27/2007

I had the good fortune to experience Tender Greens during a recent visit to Culver City. On my first stop at Tender Greens I chose mashed potatos and green salad. If you take a big forkfull of crispy green salad and add a portion of creamy smooth mashed potatos onto the same forkfull of salad, you close your eyes and you experience pure taste-bud bliss. In fact, I quickly became a mashed potato/salad lover during my next three-in-a-row visits to Tender Greens. (I was in L.A. for 5 days.) \r \r May I say I'm in love with the tables and chairs and the cushions and the way in which you can focus on the full menu right there as big as life and the easy free manner of the diners and the servers and the cooks even though the cooks and servers are working hard to the pleasure of the diners.\r \r Kudos to the entire Tender Greens Family from this more than satisfied, happy, sated customer.\r \r Burveez from Canada. Great Healthy Food! 12/5/2006

I love Tender Greens. I have had lunch there at least a dozen times. The food is well-worth the price. The long lines are a little annoying and there does seem to be some confusion behind the counter, but other than that, great healthy food. I just wish there were more of them around Los Angeles. more

Best Restaurant in Culver City! 11/21/2006

I just love this place! I bring all of my out of town guests here, and they fall in love as well. Super fresh meat, fish and greens with all the right spices and dressings! Great wine and insanly delicious cupcakes! I had a Peanut Butter and Jelly Cupcake last time i was there......SOOOOOOOO Good! Try it, you will love it! more

Very Fresh But You Pay For It! 11/13/2006

My hubby and I went to Tender Greens yesterday afternoon for a quick bite... I ordered the Ahi Niciose Salad, no potatoes while he decided to try the Mixed Grill Salad. The ahi on my salad was perfectly cooked, but the salad itself was overdressed. The best part about my hubby's salad was the lettuce. How can beautiful grilled vegetables have no taste? \r I'm not giving up on Tender Greens... I'd give it another try. Just next time, I'll order the dressing on the side. more

Hmm, My Ahi Salad Was Good 11/10/2006

I actually wrote a review for this place a couple of months ago, when it had just opened, but it seems to have mysteriously disappeared. I ate here at around 2pm on a Tuesday, so I never had to deal with long lines (I'm sure there are, as even at an odd hour, there were about 30 people in the restaurant). I did have to deal with the annoying plexi glass. I don't know who thought of the design. The plexi glass idea is actually fine, as long as the floor is straight and people can actually talk over it. The problem is that the entrance seems to lead to a ramp, with the floor not lower on one part. The lower part is where the order-taking starts, and for people who are shorter than maybe 5'8"", you really are going to have to scream to have your order heard (especially with the blaring music). Aside from that, though, everything else was fine. True, it may be a buck or 2 more expensive than salads at other places, but it tastes really fresh though. I actually liked the ahi salad and will probably stick to that the next time I go. Food and drink for me cost around $13. Pros: fresh salad & ahi Cons: plexi glass, hard to order more

healthy, quality ingredients, fast service 11/5/2006

A newer store on Culver Blvd, and a welcome, healthy addition! I tried the Chinese chicken salad and it was one of the best I've ever had. Their ingredients were fresh and (to me) totally worth the $10 pricetag. An exception would possibly be of the chicken itself, which was little scraps mixed in vs. chunks or cubes or strips on top. They only have a small counter and little circular tables so if you have more than 2 or 3 people in your party, you'll have to split up or start dragging tables around. Their lemonaide was very good and I'm looking forward to trying their other salads. I was here for dinner and understand it gets very crowded at lunchtime. Pros: really good salad Cons: a bit steep $ for some more

Nice addition to Culver City 11/4/2006

Great salad selection for decent price ($9), and nice modern yet casual vibe. It's so hard to find a good place to get an interesting salad, so I'll be going here again and again. more

skip the ahi salad 10/27/2006

for about $10 a salad, i thought the ahi was a rip off. it was not good. tasteless. to be fair, a friend had the steak salad and claims it was very good. another friend had the chicken (or was it mediterranean) salad and also claims it was very good. the line, which could be long, moves rather quickly. the staff are nice and friendly. but, based on the food i had, i probably would not go back. i give this an average rating only because my friends liked their salads. more

Tasty & fresh in a pleasant atmosphere 10/5/2006

I have eaten there several times and in this neighborhood, you can't beat it for fresh salad made with high quality ingredients. I was one of those people who felt $10 was a tad expensive for a salad, but I never feel jipped and I like several of their menu choices. Despite the goofy name, and the people complaining about the ordering process, I kind of like that everything is in sight and you can watch your meal come together. Tender Greens is a welcome addition to our neighborhood. Pros: simple and healthy ingredients, friendly staff Cons: I'm not crazy about the quail eggs. more

good food 9/3/2006

I've been wanting to try this place for a while and I really enjoyed the food and the casual atmosphere (you place your food order at the front counter, pay and pick up at the other end and pick your table). They have both indoor and outdoor tables - the outdoor seating is right next to Ford's Filling Station's outdoor seating. \r \r \r I ordered the flat iron steak as part of their ""hot plate"" (comes with mashed potatos and choice of salad) and ate everything on my plate (which I normally don't do). I even had the carrot cake which was good, too. My friend order the ahi tuna which was also really good. We sat outside and enjoyed the warm evening as well as the ""towne"" atmosphere of that part of Culver Boulevard.\r \r I thought it was priced reasonably (there are other places you could probably go for cheaper but I didn't think $10 was a big deal to pay). I'll definitely go back. Pros: good healthy food more

mixed feelings - will come when I'm close but... 8/22/2006

I noticed the store still haven't fix the confusion most customer experience when ordering. I walked in, and immediately wonder who I'm supposed to order from. Then after the customer before told me, I told the first staff what I wanted. By the time I'm in the middle of the line, he asked me 3 times what I order cuz he can't keep track of the dishes in front of him, so I'm trying to make sure they won't forget my order while I'm in line. \r \r Unfortunately, when I turned around to pay, they put my tuna on the wrong dish with someone else's salad. I didn't realize this until I sat down. I specifically didn't want the ving salad dressing, and I got it cuz it's someone else's order. darn.... I wanted to tell them, but after reminding staff 3 times and they still get the order wrong, I'm just not sure. I ordered the hot plate with 4 slices of tuna (imagine chicken finger size), side of mash potatoes and incorrect salad. If they throw on 6 slices, i would feel perfect. Everyone I saw, I noticed nothing left on their plate. Portion size not big for $10. and my drink was $3 non-alcholic \r I wouldn't return just for their food, maybe when I'm in the area. there's a lot of cafes next to it also. \r \r Their tuna and steak IS cooked perfectly for my taste. rare medium and a bit pink. yummy. Pros: medium rare steak and tuna, yummy Cons: long wait, staff can't get order right after 3 reminders more

Portion size vs. $$ 8/22/2006

From reading most of the reviews, I would agree to say that their salads are quite fresh. The leaves were all green and the presentation is great. I had the flat iron steak ""big salad"", it was tasty but it was nothing magnificent, Ive had better salads elsewhere. I could have still gone to a decent restaurant, pay $9 (not including tax and tips), and get a salad that has much more flavor, a greater amount, plus some table service. \r \r I think what makes customers think it is fresher because they are able to show the customers when they make the salads. In almost any restaurants, it is exactly the same way how a salad is put together. \r \r Oh, good thing I like to go to lunch earlier to miss the crowd. I got there around 11:30am, and by the time I finished, about 45 min later, theres literally a line outside the door just like what other reviews have mentioned, it is good food, but not good enough for me to wait in line for. Pros: freshness Cons: value more

Already planning a return visit 8/8/2006

Four of us ate at Tender Greens last night. What a treat! Although the line to order does get long, and the owners might re-think that process, we were not disappointed. Once ordered, the food was quickly prepared. We walked away having had plenty to eat without feeling uncomfortable; the portion sizes are fantastic, and the prices are right. The flatiron steak was well-prepared, and the Yukon Gold mashed potatoes were excellent. I also enjoyed my arugula and tomato salad. Vastly superior to the over-priced place next door. Pros: Great food, value Cons: Long line to order more
