I used to live in the neighborhood and waited for months for this place to open, and even after moving away come back here a few times a month. This place is the best neighborhood sushi you will find. Go here for sushi, because while the ""Asian"" of the ""Asian Bistro"" is ok, you are here for the fish. Its always fresh and glistening, with very skillful and generous cuts. Rolls are inventive and delicious, and I'd suggest the Montague or Spicy Girl.\r

The place is unpretentious and very hospitable, the lights and music low and sweet and the waiters attentive and plentiful. You rarely have to wait for more green tea or very long for food. This isn't Yasuda (you'll be able to tell by the portions and prices), but usually when I go to one of those places I have to come here the next day to get that ""full, satisfied sushi feeling"" that those lack. \r

The sushi entres usually give you a very nice selection, no room wasted on omelets or shrimp, and if you come here often the chef/owner scores you toro sashimi. \r

Its rarely very full as it's a popular takeout place (delivery is prompt and presentation is not sacrificed, btw). Wonderful garden in the back in the warmer months, too.
Pros: FRESH, reliable, great service, great low key date place
Cons: could have more exotic fish
