I am what one might label as ""tech-challenged"", which means that I basically get confused and frustrated when weird things start happening to my computer. Trying to solve problems on my own by following some online tech guru's ""directions"" has seldom worked well for me, as the ""language"" they employ to assist me is beyond my somewhat meager comprehension. While, certainly, I know the basics of computers, I am presently not an ""expert"" in regards to fixing the numerous glitches that come up.\r
\r
Thankfully, they have businesses who specialize in helping folks in my category.\r

This past summer, my computer began ""acting up"" every time I got online and after a few aggravating calls to AOL's tech support system, I was none the wiser about what exactly was causing the problems. I didn't want to risk fiddling with things myself and end up making the matter worse, so my husband and I both agreed that we would just have to spend the bucks and get a ""pro"" to come out and take a look.\r
\r
It took several calls to various computer service companies before we made our decision, primarily based on how much each charged per hour. Some of the prices were outlandish and we knew that anybody charging a huge hourly rate was probably going to make sure they found enough things ""wrong"" to justify hanging around a lot longer than they needed to.\r
\r
We chose Tech Service 2 U and were immediately impressed by the fact that the person who answered the telephone was both very pleasant and articulate. Believe me, I had spoken to people from other computer repair places who were curt, hurried and impatient with me to get to the point. The lady at Tech Service 2 U, however, was more than willing to listen to my clumsy description of what things were occurring with my computer. \r
\r
She told me that they had a fee of $90 for a technician to come out and diagnose our computer and, if we chose them to repair the problem, the diagnostic fee would be waived and the flat rate would come to $150, if the problem was easily solvable, which the majority of their customers' issues are. If the problem was on the more severe side, then the most they usually charged up to was $250. Considering what the other ""come-out-to-you"" repair services were charging, we made an appointment for one of their technicians to come to our home.\r
\r
The Tech Service 2 U technician arrived on time and was ready to tackle things immediately. After doing a diagnostic test, he surmised that a group of serious computer viruses was the culprit and not only removed them, but input some software into our system to help safeguard against the same thing happening again. Prior to that time, we had been depending on the so called ""security"" software by McAfee included with our AOL Security Edition subscription, which obviously had not been doing its job.\r
\r
The technician stayed for about 3 hours and our bill only came to the promised $150 flat rate charge. He made sure we knew exactly what he had done and was very patient with us when we asked questions. When we called the company later that day with an additional question, he called back as soon as he was available.\r
\r
We have used at least one other computer repair service in the past and it was, at best, only moderately satisfactory. Tech Service 2 U, however, was totally professional, courteous and knowledgeable.\r
\r
If any future problems arise with our computer, we will definitely put in the call to them.\r
