Best

Food is very good and fast. The one thing I don't like is that the ambiance feels cramped as tables are close to each other and being a crowded place there's not much room.

Worst

Food first, the appetizers were great. But, when the main course came out, something was off with the Sag Paneer, can't put my finger on it, but it was below average. The Nan wa...

Seattle's best Indian 6/1/2011

I was told that ""Taste of India"" is the best authentic Indian restaurant in the U.S., I had to see for myself and went the same night. From the moment we walked in, the servers, bussers and host were polite, receptive and so attentive. At times it seemed we had several servers, but we were never overwhelmed by them. The selection was good, and offered choices for many tastes. Our meal was quick, cooked right and seasoned perfectly to your spice choice. We were so grateful to the staff and would recommend this authentic Indian Cuisine to anyone. Yum! Dhanyawad more

I have been coming for years and I have never been disappointed everything on the menu is served not only with style but also with flavors that keep you wanting more! There is way to much great stuff to say! its true you will never run out of water lol Once you try it you will be hooked! more

Hands Down The BEST Indian food in Seattle and the Eastside 3/29/2010

Despite there being wall to wall people on a Friday night, we were seated (party of 2) in 20 minutes. \r \r The servce is very friendly, prompt and you never have an empty water glass. \r \r Some Indian restaurants tend to put too much breading on their dishes and the food ends up heavy and greasy. Not here. Food arrived hot, extremely savory and the breaded dishes had a light, crispy coating. \r \r I have a new favorite restaruant. Pros: delicious, light, quality ingredients, flavorful Cons: can get crowded, but you get seated fast more

Crazy servers, Ok food, Overrated 2/27/2010

Food first, the appetizers were great. But, when the main course came out, something was off with the Sag Paneer, can't put my finger on it, but it was below average. The Nan was terrible, it was more like pizza dough, just bad. The service is crazy. They had a small electric floor sweeper and they vacuumed the dining area twice while we were there, practically going under people with it. You seriously can't drink half of anything without them refilling it. With the tea, same thing, which is totally cool being free refills. It's fun for a while, and I actually recommend going just to experience this, but after a while it's annoying. India is kinda of crazy like this, so I'd say it's pretty cool as a real taste of india, but the food isn't worth going out of your way for. Pros: Free tea refills, good pakoras Cons: Free tea refills, service is ridiculous more

Excellent Service! 12/10/2009

I have been here many times and it never lets me down. The naan is fluffy and delicious, and the curries are rich and flavorful. The owner almost always gives us complementary appetizers and desserts, and your chai cup will never go empty! Highly recommended. Pros: great service, chai, curries, and naan! Cons: Small, weird parking more

Best Indian Restaurant in Seattle 12/7/2009

I no longer live in Seattle, but every time I visit I make it a point to go to Taste of India. I've lived in several places since living in Seattle, and Taste of India remains my favorite Indian restaurant anywhere. Most dishes come with a choice of protein (you can choose meat, chicken, seafood, paneer, or vegetables only) making for a lot variety and numerous options for vegetarians. Their naan bread is particularly good, as is their chai tea (which they gave me the recipe for!). A family runs the restaurant and the son who is usually there is super nice and welcoming. My family has been going for years and I never thought to write a review until now. When we went to dinner last week they brought us an unordered appetizer and a dessert, presumably because we go so often, so I'm trying to repay their generosity by spreading the word to the few of you who haven't discovered them yet. Pros: Excellent food, lots of vegetarian choices Cons: Popular - sometimes you have to wait for a table more

Great place all around 6/22/2009

My boyfriend and I LOVE this place, especially if the owner is there. He treats us like we're famous. Cozy atmosphere, and we never wait, even if it's busy. Great staff, the food is good, and I could drink their chai for the rest of my life, it's soooo good!! Pros: Best chai you've ever had more

Best food and service (unless the evil sister is running the show) 6/27/2008

I have been frequenting this restaurant for close to 12 years now and the quality of food and wait staff has always been first rate!!, The food is incredible, the wait staff attention is first class!! I have taken every family member and date to this restaurant. Every dish made is quality-I have yet to taste chai tea that even comes close to theirs -oh and the spinach nan -heavenly. My favorite dish is mutter paneer, and a must try is the butter chicken! My far my favorite restaurant! more

Great food, INSANE servers! 2/6/2008

So the food here is really good, I have no beef with that at all. I love the nan, mango lassi, chai (SO good), and tikka masala. BUT...the waitstaff is RIDICULOUS. You can hardly have a private meal without someone bugging you every two seconds, like someone else wrote ""I dare you to finish your water""--it's impossible! And annoying to always have someone hovering, waiting for you to leave your glass less than 2/3 full. Then, at the end of a meal they come and bring a SPONGE (hello, germs?!?!) and they clean the table in front of you. Any idea how many germs are in sponges?!? Completely disgusting, I never touch the table after that...sponges as so unhygienic. \r \r In short, go for the food, but be ready to shoo away servers after each sip of a drink! Pros: Mango lassi, chai, tikka masala. Cons: Intrusive servers---NOT a good place for a quiet dinner. more

Awful Food 10/27/2007

They might aswell start serving pastas, 'coz the food they have is closer to Italian than it is to Indian. I mean c'mon, in a place like Seattle with such a cosmopolitan crowd, Indian food gotta be more authentic than it is in rural alabama. Pros: Nice ambience Cons: food more

Great food, amazing service, reasonable prices 2/5/2007

This is one of my favorite inexpensive restaurants. The food is consistenly tasty. The service is amazing. They are friendly with the regulars like myself and most everyone soon becomes a regular. I'm especially fond of the mango curry chicken or prawns and mullgitawny soup. There is a tiny parking lot, but parking on side streets is free and not too hard to find. It can get rather busy on weekend nights, but I've never had to wait more than 15 minutes to be seated. Pros: good food, great service, reasonable price Cons: okay, so the floor is kinda slanted...who cares? more
