Best

Food is very good and fast. The one thing I don't like is that the ambiance feels cramped as tables are close to each other and being a crowded place there's not much room.

Worst

Food first, the appetizers were great. But, when the main course came out, something was off with the Sag Paneer, can't put my finger on it, but it was below average. The Nan wa...

Avoid weekend evenings 1/21/2007

walking in you know there is going to be a wait as when we went on a saturday night there were people lined out the door. After getting our seat I was suprised people came here with the lack of service. We waited a long time for anything we asked for. The food was ok but not worth the hordes of people and the price would not be something I would come back for either. It is an ok Indian food place but like many other Indian food places around the sound. Pros: Large menu Cons: No parking, lack of service more

Excellent food and service! 9/3/2006

Taste of India has excellent food, but the friendly and efficient service provided by Mohammad and his staff makes it an outstanding favorite of ours! We love the Tandoori Chicken Tikka and the Chicken Tikka Masala...always accompanied by the Paneer Naan and bottomless Chai Tea. There's always a crowd, which should make this an obvious choice! Pros: Excellent Food and Service more

What's the deal with this place? 7/18/2006

Every time we drive past this restaurant it is bursting at the seams with people waiting to be seated. My girlfriend and I, who eat Indian food regularly, decided to try it... It was AWFUL. The food is bland and very Americanized. No flavor. If you love this place, I strongly suggest trying a different place to see what you are missing. Pros: None that I am aware of Cons: Awful food more

every think is so bad 5/21/2006

i have been ti taste od india many time and the food is so bad between 2 or 3 years it beacuse od they chife has been changed. even i stoped give tip to at there restaurants beacuse they don't give tip to there waters. and it always disapoint more

Great service, Great Food 3/11/2006

I love the food. The wait staff definitely takes care of you and they don't seem to rush you to finish. It's my favorite choice for takeout too. Pros: Takeout, Service Cons: Parking more

SOOOOOOOO salty!!! 3/6/2006

I've been to Indian restaurants all up and down the west coast and let's just say, I've had better. I know Indian food is salty in general(and I know you're supposed to eat it with rice and nan), but this place is WAY TOO salty. You can't taste it when you're there(the temperature makes it less noticeable), but if you get some to-go and you take a bite cold, you can REALLY taste the salt. Other than that, the place is okay... more

favorite india restuarant in Seattle 9/29/2005

Every time I go to Taste, there is a wait, but it's worth it. The food is good, waitstaff are attentive and fast, and you will always leave full and with plenty of delicious leftovers. The beer selection is also impressive. Be careful if you are tall, the cielings are low. Pros: inexpensive Cons: low ceilings more

Wonderful 2/22/2005

Great place for great, consistent food with excellent service. Try it and you'll like it! more

enjoyable in many ways 1/23/2005

This is great Indian food of the variety that Americans and Western palates are accustomed to. We go there often, and every time I love what we have. As far as comparisons go, they have our favorite naan and raita in town. The service is great and they are always attentive but not overbearing. Lunch is okay to just drop in, but they are almost always very busy in the evening so call ahead to check and perhaps make a reservation. more

very tasty indian 7/11/2004

very good overall. Great nan, large and flavorful and more than just your average selections. We really enjoyed the service as well. One of the top 2 or 3 indian resturants that I have been to in Seattle more

Better than Chutney's!!!! 9/2/2003

When we went to Taste Of India, we saw much friendlier faces than at Chutney's in Seattle. Taste of India has great service and great food. The only con would be having your water filled constantly, after you take even one sip. We go there all the time and we haven't found a better restaurant. Pros: Inexpensive, Friendly staff, Good food Cons: Parking lot is small more

Taste of India 8/21/2003

One of my favorite places to eat, Taste of India is dependably good indian food. Spinach Naan and Chai are delicious, and they have many excellent main dishes. Mango Curry, Palak Masala, Butter Chicken, Vindaloo and Tandoori dishes are all wonderful. Many variations on each dish so those that are vegetarian or who prefer seafood will be pleased. Service is very attentive, sometimes over attentive but better too much than none at all. Manager is friendly and greets everyone as he is able. Only problems I have had is getting them to make the dishes spicy enough, sometimes we have to send a dish back to be redone. When we say extra spicy, we mean extra spicy! Pros: good food, attentive service Cons: trouble getting dish, extra hot and spicy more

If I am going Indian ... 5/25/2003

... I am going to Taste of India. The service is attentive, the food is outstanding and I can't get enough of that chai. I have not sampled my way around the menu but I highly recommend the butter chicken. There's usually parking close. It's not romantic but would be a great casual environment for a first date. Great value (service x quality / price). Rarely a wait. Casual atmosphere. If I remember right entrees are price right around 10ish. Pros: Attentive service, Great value, Bottomless chai! Cons: Slightly rushed more

Finish your water - I dare you. 12/19/2002

Other reviewers have commented negatively on the overly attentive service. Many restaurants fail miserably when you need something simple like an extra napkin - a clean fork - etc. Not Taste of India. If ever you need something more to make your meal complete - simply drink more than 1/4 of your water glass - and a server will be there to refill it - and be available to solve your problem. Some of the food up the street at Bengal Tiger is better - but the service is lacking in comparison. The only only restaurant I've been to in Seattle with similar service is CJ's eatery. Pros: Fast Service Cons: Servers can intrude more

Pretty good but not great. 11/15/2002

My friends and I went on a Saturday night and had four dishes plus two kinds of naan (flat bread). Three of the four dishes were under-flavored, and two were too heavy. The naans were pleasant but not special, certainly not as good as the amazing ones at Chutneys. Overall the food is not as good as at Chutneys, Raga, Shamiana, nor even the less-renowned India House. On the plus side, table service is unbelievably attentive; our teacups of chai were refilled or topped off more than ten times during the meal! And the menu is very large. I could eat here again, but it would not be my first choice. Pros: Service, Big menu Cons: Bland food, Heavy more
