This place has over priced products in a very cramped store that is difficult to maneuver around in. Customer service is difficult to get and very snobby. Pros: The only house...

Seventh Avenue Shopping 9/12/2005

Probably Park Slope's most upscale general housewares store, Tarzian West packs an enormous amount of stuff into a very small, cramped space. Many of the wares are of reasonably high quzlity and they're priced to reflect both that and their relative scarcity in the area. But if you need a Brita filter, a La Creuset skillet or an imported vegetable brush, this is probably your best bet. As long as you can get here during the rather limited hours. more

Tarzian Housewares 9/8/2005

I never noticed this store much when I was younger, even though it was always there--I'm not sure whether it's because I wasn't interested in housewares then or because the stuff they have now is cooler, or both. Anyway, despite being fairly small, this store packs in a variety of nice things for the home, from silverware to tea kettles to shower curtains to interesting glasses to little gooey decorations that you can stick on your bathtub. The stuff tends to be more modern than traditional, and a lot of the items would make great gifts for younger people decorating their apartments. more

Upscale kitchen and bath oriented stuff 9/7/2005

If you are looking to upgrade your kitchen and/or bath with some new and quality pieces, this is a store to head to. They have name and known brands, a wide range of colors, and lots of new styles to experiment with - be it vintage, contemporary, deco or just timeless classic. Prices are fairmarket, but they do have a wide selection to chose from. They also carry an interesting section of seasonal items, if you want to invest in a few, like thanksgiving or halloween - it's fun, and you can go as crazy or as limited as you want. more
