Best

Excellant food, great service, unique dining rooms, same owners/menu as Dali which we found out last time we were there.\r \r Two Thumbs up!! Pros: Food / Ambiance/ Service...

Worst

I was really disappointed with our recent visit to Tapeo. In the past, I thought the sangria & tapas were good. However, this recent visit, left me extremely disappointed. I'm...

Great for a romantic date! 12/14/2008

Located on Newbury, Tapeo is a great place to go for a romantic dinner. The decor and the music accentuate the Spanish vibe. Food and service was good. Seating arrangement was a bit tight though. I was happy with the variety available for vegetarians. Cheese balls are a must try! We also tried the Spanish beer and the Rosa wine. The beer refreshing and crisp, perfect for the afternoon. The prices are reasonable considering the location. 4 tapas + 2 drinks + dessert + tax = 60 more

If You must have tapas... 12/28/2006

If you're really craving tapas, Tapeo is one of the few options in Boston for Spanish cuisine, and tapas in particular. It's not exactly authentic, but they do carry some of the basics/staples. It's a good place to go if you're not too hungry and are looking more to hang out and graze than to satisfy your appetite. Unless you're willing to spend a fortune, you're going to leave there rather hungry (small and expensive portions, though not outside the norm for its Back Bay Location. The sangria is the best part the experience, in my opinion. In my single days I went on a few pretty bad dates here, and the sangria definitely helped to smooth over the pain. Not a bad date place because it has a fun atmosphere. Not the best tapas place in greater Boston, but the only real downtown option. more

Tasty Tapas But Pricey 4/16/2006

There are so many tapas on the menu that it's difficult to limit yourself, but you probably will when you notice the prices. Each tapa is the same price as an entree at other restaurants. However, they are so incredibly good that you'll just want to keep on shelling out dough. Also, the pitchers of sangria are hardly pitchers at all. It's more like three wine glasses full. That's not much! However, it costs the same as a full pitcher elsewhere. Go here to impress or for incredible taste. Don't go here for value. more

Why so expensive 4/13/2006

The food's ok, and the portions are unexpectedly large for tapas, but still, pricey. The sangria's a total ripoff...$24 for a very small pitcher? Not worth it. Don't believe the hype! more

This place serves authentic Spanish cusine, food which I personally love. The food here as great as is the service and wait time. They have great tapas among other things. This restaruant has a great feel to it and I definetley do recommend it. You should visit this place at least once as it is a qunique experience in Boston more

A Change from the Usual on Newberry Street 3/10/2006

Tapeo is one of the few options in Boston for Spanish cuisine, and tapas in particular. Be warned, Tapeo is far from being authentic tapas as to the choices offered on its menu and would fall into the category of "nouveau tapas" or "nouveau Spanish" if one has sampled tapas at other restaurants outside Boston. That being said, depending on what you select Tapeo is reasonably priced considered the flavor, size of portions and its Back Bay Location. It offers tried and true favorites such as the queso con cabra as well as unique items like the duck with cranberry sauce. The sangria adds to the experience so it is probably an establishment to try for a change from the Italian and American fare that is typically offered along Newberry St. more

Best Tapas in Boston 1/13/2006

In the heart of the Back Bay is one of the best tapas restaurants in Boston. Capitalizing on the "small plate" trend, this restaurant serves a variety of different mini entrées with an emphasis on flavor. Portion sizes are not too small (as is the problem with other tapas places) and the prices make this a good value. The proprietors of Tapeo take note of regulars and treat them well--- occasionally sending over complimentary dishes that they think they would like. The service here is also excellent. Highly recommended is the garlic shrimp. more

I love this place 1/6/2006

This place is not only cozy but the food is really good. i love Tapas and would go here any time and any. It gets really busy during the weekends but this is a must try place if you are in Boston. more

great sangria 8/29/2005

The best sangria can only be found at Newbury st's very own Tapas Bar. Dining at Tapeo is not complete until you order the Croquetas de Pollo (chicken croquettes), gambas al ajillo (garlic shrimp), Chipirones Rellenos (stuffed squid) and the paella (rice dish). more

Boston Tapas 8/17/2005

It's a nice restaurant, but service is rather slow. The food is good. The environment and atmosphere is pretty good. It has a great location at Newbury Street. It's very popular, but you don't get enough attention to get service until you stop them. They don't fill your glasses with water unless you ask them to. I had my birthday there. My friend brought a cake and asked them to slice it up. They charge you $10 for slicing the cake. My overall experience there is so-so. If you're just going for only the food, it's a good place. If you're impatient like me, it's not so great. more

Pretty Good Tapas 6/26/2005

I think this restaurant on Newbury Street used to be Sol Azteca (10 years ago when I lived in Boston). I never really liked the ambience then and I don't really like it now - just too dark (it's downstairs in the basement). The tapas was good, but not anything special and there didn't really seem to be an signature dishs (just a lot of "generic tapas choices" - things I've had lots of other places that are standard spanish fare. The meal was reasonably priced and if you are in Back Bay and MUST eat Tapas, this is a good choice. Otherwise, keep looking. more
