Didn't care for anything we ordered. Snapper in scotch bonnet pepper unbelievably bland. Much better food to be found in Miami. Cannot park near restaurant right now-very inconvenient. Would not return if meal was free- that disappointing. more

My sisters and I are here in Miami on vacation. We heard such good reviews about Tap Tap. My sneakers were sticking to the dirty floor from the moment I walked in the door. We requested the Rum punch and a Mojito. The drinks were horrible, and two items that I wanted to order was not available. When we received the bill, we noticed that each item was priced $1-2 higher than the price listed on the menu. We also noticed that they charge you a 20% gratuity even for 3 people. We paid for the bill in cash. My sister made the waiter sign the bill after he received the cash. We were almost 1 block away when the waiter Alirio, came running down the street after us. He tried to say that we owed him more money. Our bill was $110, but he tried to present us a bill with similar items that was $127. We do not drink beer. We showed Alirio the bill that he signed, and he still tried to scam us. I got irate, and I let him know I was from New York and he was not going to scam me for more money. PLEASE DO NOT GO TO THIS PLACE!!! They are not clean, or honest people. more

I had a family dinner there. Appetizers was great. But when it came time to order dinner they ran out of 3 of the main dish then had the nerve to say we also ran out of the brown rice and beans and the chef is cooking is cooking it now so its a 15min wait. Who does that when we made reservation ahead of time during the week. Neither to say i was very dissappointed. more

Went there for the first time last night. Came highly recommended and the reviews were, for the most part, glowing.\r I would definitely return but, would hope that everything I want to eat, is on the menu, the next time around. This was not the case last night. The stewed goat was available but not the grilled goat and that sort of thing. Some dishes had some but not all components. We began to be very confused.\r It was the day after carnival so I'm allowing for the fact that they might have been very busy over the weekend or, that, maybe some of dishes were playing mas and were tired and couldn't show up for the menu.\r Service was slow and I started to wish I had ordered a starter, so long was the wait for my main course.\r I am a foodie and, therefore, quite critical. I don't think the food is off the chains but it's good and one needs to enjoy this as a total experience. \r It is very Haitian - decor, ambience and with that comes the laid back attitude so typical of us Caribbean beings.\r If you aren't in a hurry, by all means go to Tap Tap and chill. more

You could not have paid me to eat dinner in any of the obnoxious, over priced, house-music blaring places on Ocean Drive. I know, that's what most people go there for. But for tourists who just want to see the ocean, and then have a nice dinner, Tap Tap is a nice quiet alternative to the strip.\r \r Nothing fancy, but decor is very cool with murals covering every square inch. Service was fine.\r \r Not ever having had Haitian food before, I don't really know if this is good or not, but everything we had was pretty tasty. Tried the conch salad, shrimp creole, and chicken stew (which is three bone-in pieces of chicken). Good flavor all around, except for the rice/bean side which, as another reviewer said, is kinda dry and flavorless. But pour some extra stew sauce over it and you're fine. I have it on good authority from a local that the items which say "spicy" really mean it and caution is to be had. But our selections we not too hot. more

I love everything about this place, the art, the vide, the service and especially the food. Wasn't sure I was going to like Haitian cuisine, but it was delish, not too spicey, not too weird and very very good. Can't wait to go back and try some more. more

Ingredients aren't great, and overpriced. Doesn't taste like they took the time to prepare. I ordered the pork, only because it was reviewed on the Food Network, and it was super dry. Rice was bland. Beans looked like it came out of a can. I could have done a better job at home. Decore is unique, that's it. more

First time for Haitian food learned about tap tap from food network. Very small place menu reads like a redneck BBQ with goat and the like. The wife n I stayed safe and ordered Griyo (pork) let me say ot was se of the best things I gave ever tasted it was so good we had to go back before we left. You really have to try this place well worth a visit more

Mixed feeling 9/24/2009

I've been going to TapTap for probably 4 years now. More so in the last 2 years. Decor, atmosphere and drinks are top notch. A sip of Le Rhum Barbancourt on the rocks or a tall Mojito makes the cut all of the time. Where TapTap drops the ball, is with the food. Most dishes outside of the Griot or Spinach, is a gamble. I think they go thru chefs on a regular basis. Some days/nights you get a dish that's 101% great that you rave about and refer to your friends and relatives. Then next month, it taste about as lame & exciting as a cup of cold soup off the streets of Port-de-Paix. The music is always A+, and the band really let loose when Manno is out of town. The place also has great air with little to no smokey feel. Never too hot or too cold. Areas of improvement , would be to change up the menu, brings back some of the more ethic foods and keep the good chefs. Also bring back the taller stools. Pros: Spinach in coco sauce, grilled goat shoulder ,music Cons: slow food service, the chefs R not consistent more

Extremely stimulating decor meets with luscious ,savory appetizers--pumpkin soup,bullion soup and special creamy spinach.Our meals included stewed chicken in which my 9 y/o son couldn't get enough of the broth--he dipped the crusty fresh bread many times over and by the way,the chicken was ""falling off the bone"".My husband had the oxtail which was just as tender and in a light barbeque flavored sauce.Plantains were fried ever so lightly with no hint of greasiness .Next time we go ,we will try the fritters as recommended by a returning patron who said they're the best !!( Even the ginger tee was so unique and very refreshing. )Well worth the trip----from ANYWHERE !!! Pros: Unbelievable artwork,delicious food , reasonable prices Cons: none found more
