Absolutely amazing restaurant! 9/20/2007

I didn't think I was a huge fan of Indian food...but this place was amazing! My friend and I shared the ahi and avocado app as well as the scallop salad, the prawn tempura entree and chocolate cake dessert. All were absolutely phenomenal! The staff was very friendly and attentive and were more than happy to provide their recommendations on the best dishes. It has a cool atmosphere and beautifully designed interior. The music was great and there's a very comfortable and entertaining lounge area as there are sofa's and large tv screens, playing music videos and fashion shows. Of course, the cute and charming bartender was definitely an added bonus~ Pros: food, ambience, service Cons: valet only parking more

Amazing food and atmosphere 9/10/2007

I went last week with my girlfriends that had read about it on Zagat and was pretty much blown away. I'm from London and grew up on Indian food, but this was unlike anything I've had. Our waiter (a quite fit one with fierce blue eyes and smile to melt, lol) told us that it was different from many Indian restaurants but still I was not prepared. He recommended an ahi and avocado appetizer that turned out to be the highlight of the night. We all shared and had lamb chops, Chicken curry and something else like a chicken masala. I don't remember the name of it now. There were a lot wines available and teh waiter made recommendations for all our food that were perfect. I won't be back in LA till december but when I do I'll definitley be going back. can't wait. Pros: the design in beautiful, service was great and food delicious Cons: nothing really. The food did take kind of long though. more

Unmatched Excellence: New Delhi Meets New York -- All In LA 9/7/2007

Tanzore has MASTERED the art and science of fine Indian cuisine. It starts the minute you step in. The sights, sounds, and smells delight your senses. The lounge area featured massive video projectors (which on our night showcased Indian couture), and plush, comfortable sectional chairs. A joy to meet and greet here. As a fan of the fine spirits, the bar was also wonderfully stocked. I can't recall an instance when an Indian-based restaurant offered Chimay. After a couple of pre-dinner cocktails (and the best damn Calamari), we strolled into the dining area. I was, of course, unabashedly coveting the floor-to-ceiling, all-glass wine cellar during my little stroll. And it only got better from there. The dining area was infused with vibrant colors, impressive wood work, and a subtle, but ever so sublime, water feature. Finally, the food was, simply put, unmatched in its culinary excellence. It's what fusion was meant to be. The traditional flavors of ancieint and rich India bursting through 21st century, modern dishes. My dinner was the Masala lamb chops -- which were cooked ""old school style"" in a Tandoor (clay oven) -- and they were, no holds barred, [expletive] damn succulent and flavorful. And yes, if you're wondering, the wine list actually matched the beauty of the cellar. Dessert was a true treat -- a Cardamom-infused chocolate cake. It had the most amazing taste that just exploded in your mouth. On top of it all, the service was exceptional. The staff was both knowledgeable and personable. And, my water glass stayed full. Bottom line, if India = Taj Mahal, then the finest Indian cusine = Tanzore. Period. Pros: Damn exceptional dishes and vibe in a personable environment more

After hearing so many positive things about Tanzore we had to go check it out. My girlfriend and I both entered the restaurant and were pleasantly surprised. Words cannot express how wonderful great this restaurant looks from the inside. It was like a Trendy NY restaurant mixed with the Las Vegas Style and of course with the LA posh we all love. more

Pros: food and ambience Cons: desserts more

Words cannot express how wonderful great this restaurant looks from the inside. It was like a Trendy NY restaurant mixed with the Las Vegas Style and of course with the LA posh we all love. We've eaten at hundreds of restaurant across the US and this place definitely ranks well. Especially for an Indian restaurant. Seating was prompt and the waitress did a wonderful job explaining the dishes. I highly recommend the basket of breads...perfect combo of naans. The lamb and chicken dishes tasted great. My girlfriend likes her food on the mild side.. it was perfectly seasoned for her. They did a good job with my spicy dishes as well. Every dish was mouth watering and delicious. I'm planning to go back and take my parents and friends really soon. Ambience/Style points - off the charts, service - Excellent, Food- Great. The owners defiantly didn't forget about the little things that make a restaurant experience memorable. (The men's restrooms even had little TV screens) Finally a great Indian restaurant with delicious food and style. more

Overpriced cliched indian food 9/6/2007

This place is really overpriced. The staff is extremely unfriendly. We made a reservation, but of course they could not find it. We then had to wait 30 mins until they found us a seat. This was very unusual since the restaurant was not very crowed. The food iteself-not so great. Overly spiced, greasy dishes. Small portions. We went away not wanting any more. more

Stylish Indian Food 8/18/2007

So I went to Tanzore for the first time last night with my parents. We had a wonderful time. Our waitress was amazing, the food was incredible, and the environment was unbelievable. Everything was just great. We ordered the crabcakes, tiger prawn tandoori, wild mushroom and spinach curry, black cod, bhindi masala, chutney trio, garlic naan, eggplant curry and raita. And the delicious yogurt pannacotta for dessert. Everything was tip top, but I have to mention that the wild mushroom and spinach curry with basil naan was my absolute favorite! This is such an awesome place to go to celebrate a special occasion. The restaurant is very trendy and stylish. I just love everything about it. Our whole night went so smoothly and wonderfully. I definitely will be back soon. Pros: Delicious Food, Great Service, Incredible Environment more

Not your traditional Indian restaurant, even better! 8/11/2007

Classy, clean, elegant, mellow, romantic and most of all, DEEEELICIOUS! My friend Birkleigh had her 24th b-day party there last night and we were treated like royalty by every single person in that place! From the mixologist at the bar who made our cocktails special to order to the chef, Mikail, coming to our table twice to check on us and to see how we liked the food, this place is the end all, be all, in fashionable, high-end dining in Los Angeles. They have a loaded wine cellar, (actually a temperature controlled wine closet encased in glass for all to see, tucked neatly beside the dining room) with wines to go with every dish and then some, that they have on their menu. In the lounge area, I could not take my eyes off the TV screens displaying Bollywood dance scenes from movies and fashion shows direct from India with fashions that I would love to have! Pros: elegant, service suberb, food excellent more

In the lounge area, I could not take my eyes off the TV screens displaying Bollywood dance scenes from movies and fashion shows direct from India with fashions that I would love to have! The delicacies this gorgeous place has to offer are not your traditional findings on a simple Indian food menu. They are artisanal entrees served with love and care. Bombay-L.A. Melange on the apps. side was the creme de la creme for sampling a little bit of everything and the tamarind chutney was simply to die for! We were given extra entrees to sample, the chicken specialties are so mouthwatering, you want to dance and sing about it! Tandoori chicken is done so elegantly and the velvet lamb melts in your mouth! Hot and steaming garlic naan is the way to sample the delectable Wild mushroom and Spinach Curry, that was my fave entree. And for desert, oh, the cake that they brought for my friend! Gorgeous! And we sampled the plum tart, killer delicious, and the best thing I've ever tasted in my life (being a chocoholic) CARDAMOM CHOCOLATE CAKE! I almost peed my pants! I absolutely LOVE this place and will be returning again and again for celebrations, dates, with guests from out of town who want a fine-dining experience and for this cake!!! ohmigod...I'm still dreaming about its yumminess on my tongue. Pros: elegant, service suberb, food excellent more
