Best

This is so nice, I love the place and the foods were pretty delicious and great. I wanna have more the next time I visit Oakland

Worst

Last night I had one of the worst experiences at a restaurant ever. The food was okay, not great, and the ambiance was very nice. That?s where it ended. \r \r Tanjia?s advert...

Food and atmosphere are great, worth a try 3/23/2005

The atmosphere and the food at Tanjia are really excellent. The menu consists of 2 fixed price menu "packages" priced at $21 and $24. Your choice of soups, appetizers, etc. are limited. Come prepared for the full meal as there is no option to order a la carte. Another thing you should be aware of before going to Tanjia is that the cushions, which comprise most of the seating at the restaurant, are not particularly comfortable given the leisurely pace of dinner. There is, however, some more conventional seating in back. I would recommend checking ahead for that if you aren't up for the traditional seating arrangement. For 2 people, one glass of wine, with tip and tax, we spent about $60 (a bit more than I was expecting, but certainly commensurate with the quality and variety of food served). One final note, the restuarant touts belly dancing every night. The dancers aren't always out, but when they are it can be a lot of fun. more

Terrific Moroccan Food in the Temescal Neighborhood 7/29/2004

Difficult to spot if not familiar with the neighborhhod, but lush tent-like atmosphere makes the dining experience seem far from the streets of Oakland. Four course meals in the $20 to $25 range, and always more than you could possibly eat. Plentiful array of kebabs and tagines, with many wonderful vegetarian options available. Seating on low couches and ottomans works well for large parties. more
