More Than Just Trophies 1/1/2012

I was a dancer for Tammy Allen since the day I could walk. The Tammy Allen Dance Academy was the best thing that has ever happened to me. Not only are the classes fun, but educational and stress free. The directors of this studio know what they are doing and are capable of teaching in a way that does not place a burden on their dancers' shoulders. In their books, the dancers as people come first; this is something you will not find in other Rochester studios. Tammy and Julie's dancers have always been successful in their competition seasons and will continue to be this year. The greatest thing about this studio is that you will not only be a member of a team, but a part of a larger family. These dancers know how to have fun with their art and know when to crack down to business. If you don't believe me, drive past the studio today; you'll see the trophies and plaques that line the front window sill. All of which are from just this past competition season alone. Tammy, Julie and the dancers that this studio hold have become the most amazing people in my life. I have graduated and moved onto college, where I was placed on a Varsity Collegiate Level competitive dance team. All of the other girls I danced and graduated with are also either Dance Majors in their colleges or on their college's dance team. To say that you are not getting your money's worth from the Tammy Allen Dance Academy is an obscene statement. Tammy charges the least amount of money in the Greater Rochester area for dance instruction, she also focuses on keeping costume costs down. To call this studio unorganized, unprofessional or a joke is a great lie. The others who have written reviews didn't allow their children to grow with the others in their classes. They simply were naive enough to look at idiotic posts on pages like this and blocked their ability to form their own opinions. If you give your child a chance to take lessons from the instructors here, you will see far past their foundations of ballet; you will see their smiles and evolving love for dance. They do not lie during the award's ceremony at recital while announcing the graduating seniors and promising that TADA's doors will always be open to you. Tammy and Julie are among the wisest women I have ever been blessed knowing and the girls that I danced with are still, to this day, my closest friends. This studio has not only allowed me to find the reasons behind my own personal passion for dancing, but friendships and support that I will receive for the rest of my life. more

Extremely unorganized and unprofessional 10/5/2011

Tammy Allen Dance Studio is a joke. The teachers are young teens with hardly a personality. There is no warm and welcome feeling when you first sign up your young daughter, and the cold, unenergetic atmosphere continues throughout the season. The owner has zero interaction with the young students, and charges too high of a tuition for WHAT they are capable of teaching. The girls barely learned a thing the entire year. They try to claim they are professional and experienced, yet if you go to a recital you will see the exact opposite. I dont know HOW a young child is supposed to learn anything from a teacher that can barely dance. I would NOT recommend this studio at all. There are plenty of other non-competitve studios that are actually FUN. I dont know how she stays in business with her cold personality and lack of credible teachers. more

NOTHING BUT PROFESSIONAL! 8/10/2010

First of all, that's how you spell Professtional! more

unprofessional, no control 4/3/2009

This studio is very unprofessional. They have teenagers teaching some of their classes and nothing gets done. Girls will get into their own groups and socialize when they are supposed to be dancing. Way too much socializing. The tuition is not worth what you get. I have watched many dance competitions and these dancers are so far behind others of the same age and group. The routines are just that- routine. If you are a serious dancer look elsewhere or you will fall behind. There is no push to excel because they are all too busy being social and talking with one another. Beware. Cons: no control over girls, lack of instruction, clique-y girls more

WORST dance school 2/22/2009

TERRIBLE!! amatuers thats aaaaallll i have 2 say. i have seen these performances multiple times and every time UNPERFESSIONAL is screaming from the stage. these teachers and girls need to learn how to dance, and have someone show them what it's supposed to look like. this is not good at all. there is a terrible dance foundation here and you cant even blame the students. the teachers here are not meant for this job. many girls are put up on pionte without proper training as well as competeitions. this is not the place to be unless you see no wish in succeeding in the dance world. Pros: easy to excell in Cons: amatuers who dont know what they're doing more

Great to get in shape, but unperfessional if to continue a serious dance career 10/11/2008

Tammy Allen Dance Academy is s great place for girls to hang out, be with friends, and get in shape. No pressure. But it is in my opinion quite an ameature school. Only 1 competition is included, so those serious about their dance should look somewhere else, because it is a hard competition, I know this because I am a dancer myself, so you can only succeed in this with the proper training. Tammy Allen is full of great instructors, friendly and know what they are doing, but their teaching and especially choreograpy skills could use some work. I am a choreographer as well, and know the Tammy Allen choreography quite well, also because it lacks much variety. I also know that with this training a college degree in dancing is not likely to be achieved if to go on in dance. However, if not a serious dancer, and just looking for some friends and fun, this is the place to be. But be sure to keep your options open, you may regret decisions later. Pros: No pressure, all fun. Cons: Not proper dance training or ability. more
