Talayna's World Class Pizza

We love St. Louis style thin crust pizza and the thin crust pizza here is one of the best!! It always tastes great and their salads are huge and wonderful. We have had good and friendly service and like going there after the dog park because they have some outdoor seating and are very nice about accommodating our group along with our dogs. I don't usually post reviews but feel strongly about the great pizza. We would go out of our way to eat here. 5 stars all the way! more

I have lived in the Saint Louis area my entire life and I haven't found a better thin crust pizza. The cheese is so tangy and delicious. I have tried almost everything on the menu, the pastas are HUGE for what you pay for. They have a tasty house dressing that I wish they sold in stores too. If you are a true pizza connoisseur then try em out! From what I can tell it seems to be a family owned restaurant, the dining room is small and the decor is not really all that pleasing to the eye, but the people are friendly and the pizza is second to none! In Response to MikeC1965, I believe the other reviews 100%. I wish it weren't true, this used to be my favorite restaurant, but on the third and final visit, things went very badly. I went with my parents, we ordered around 7:40. Usually they offer bread but this time we had to ask for everything. My parents salads took about 1/2 hour to arrive. By 8:30 the pizza and pastas had not yet arrive and they had provided any explanation. My Dad had to get up and ask what was taking so long, they said it would be another ten minutes. Instead 20 minutes went by and at 8:50 we finally had our food. My parents were so disgusted they could no longer eat, I had come close to walking out and finding a burger king. I needed to eat within a reasonable time, I'm diabetic, 40 minutes might have been OK but over an hour is just absurd, I was about to pass out or go into convulsions. I explained the situation to a server who then brought out the manager. I was caught by surprise as the manager appeared to be about 15 or 16 years old, though I didn't ask him his age. I think the server said he was the little brother of the ownwer or something to that effect. I explained that we shouldn't have to pay for having been put through this. He would only take 1/2 off the pizza price and acted very insencerely. From reading other reviews it sounds like he was being generous, LOL. It doesn't appear they have PRIDE in their business nor understand that service is also part of the restuarant experience. Needless to say, I will pay more somewhere else, heck anywhere else rather than go back to a place that treated good customers like rubbish. I eat at Talayna's on Main St. in St. Charles all the time because they are the only pizza place in St. Louis that has NY style pizza that actually tastes like NY pizza. I grew up in New Jersey so I know what it's supposed to taste like and it isn't Imo's. Also, the other reviews complaining about the service and that it takes hours to get a take out order are completely false. I get take out all the time and it takes about 20 minutes to get a pizza. Never had the slightest problem. When I eat in the service is just fine. I think these postings are from other pizza restaurant owners who don't know how to make a pizza. The NY style pizza is very good. However, the service and attitude are horrendous. \r \r We've eaten in, but mostly get delivery. Both are slow. Delivery is OK on a Friday or Saturday, if you order before 5:30 - any later and just expect to eat it for breakfast. Worse, they tell you ""45 minutes"" no matter what. I've waited well over 2 hours for a pizza that was promised in 45-50 minutes. It would be a different story if they told you up front that the wait time for delivery was 90+ minutes, or 2 1/2 hours, or whatever it was, but they don't. They lie and take your order, and they don't care if you have kids to feed, etc. There is a total lack of consideration for the customer. Also, this was not a one-time event, this has happened on more than 3 occasions, and I've finally gotten fed up. When you call 90 or 120 minutes after placing the order, they are rude on the phone, and totally unapologetic. You may get a ""yeah we're busy tonight."" Or ""we got backed up in the kitchen"" lame excuse, if you are lucky. The usual is to be dismissed with an ""oh well"" or a ""too bad"" - never so much as ""we're sorry about that"" - even an insincere apology is not offered. Not once have I been offered a coupon or discount for the inconvenience. I guess they figure they have enough business it's OK to be rude to the customers. But they've lost my business for good. I hope the punk on the phone actually owns or inherits the place and gets to reap his own rewards.
