Taj Palace

Taj Palace is a delight. It's friendly and relaxed, and as you watch the regulars any night of the week, you realize it has a very loyal following. Then you taste the food, and you understand why. The curries are just amazing, and the naan is chewy/crunchy perfect. Tandoori chicken is equally delicious. The service is attentive but not annoyingly so. They have a bar so you can get a beer or a cocktail with your meal. The decor is not fancy, so if you are looking for fine dining you won't find that here. It is a place where I will go again and again, and I can name on one hand the restaurants that have ever attained that status for me. It's a very great pleasure to eat in this restaurant, I highly recommend it. more

Taj Palace is definitely the best Indian restaurant I've been to in Columbus, and I consider myself something of a connoisseur. \r \r The service is wonderful. They went out of their way & prepared Saag Paneer for me when I was disappointed not to find it on the buffet one night. \r \r I've not seen the prices beaten by any other Indian restaurant in town (actually they're $2 to $4 cheaper, most of the time). And unless you're an unusually big eater, 2 people can split a dish, or get 2 dishes and have leftovers. \r \r The only complaint I can think of is that they typically do not ask ""mild/medium/hot?"" when you order, as most places will do. The dishes just are what they are. \r \r And, by the way, those reviews below are not phony... If they were writing shill reviews, why would they disparage themselves by saying that they keep inching up their buffet prices? Duh! The two reviews with ""Monday Night Buffet"" and ""Tuesday Night Veg. Buffet"" are shills from the restaurant. It looks like right out of their ad. No one uses those phrases to write a review. The food may be plenty good, but do not base it on those two ""reviews."" more

The Lunch Buffet has a a large variety of Foods, none of which are too hot spiced but interesting and differently spiced. great place for Beginners of Indian Food. Also great to introduce and teach your children to try different foods. A lot of fresh foods that even the table food starters can try (e.g. fruit or a Honey sweetened Mango Custard) Prices are very reasonable for whatyou get. We saw Indians eat there at lunch time as regulars which is a very good sign. It is a great variety to what We are usually all used to e.g. Chinese, Fast Foods (Burger etc.), Pizza, Steak and such (Nothing against a good Steak or Burger!)\r Just try it and make up your own opinion! They are trying and have been in this location for quite a while and seem to always be busy, not a bad sign in my opinion. We loved it! The service here was great, I will grant that. However, their website advertises a giant buffet with over 20 choices. That may be true if you count each salad topping as a separate item, but I would say there are about 11 choices including desserts. The food is average, about what one would expect from a buffet. It was around $12 per person for the buffet though. The food was on par with about an $8 or $10 buffet, so it is overpriced. We drove out from Columbus to check it out on advice of a friend. We were in the mood for curry and couldn't be bothered to drive all the way to our usual Indian restaurant on Sawmill, so we thought we'd check out this place. We opted for the buffet (obviously!) and were extremely impressed! The food was hot, fresh and delicious. We really liked it that baskets of fresh naan bread were brought to the table (tends to get dried out and rubbery sitting on the buffet bar). Service was, of course, faultless. My girlfriend and I go to the Monday Night Buffet about twice a month. The food is great and spicy and the naan bread is, so far, the best that I have ever tasted in town. They also have their special chicken or lamb dish that will be cooked on the spot. If you love curry and spicy food, this place will definitely rock your tastebud. This is the BEST indian food I've had anywhere. They keep inching their buffet prices up, but it is still reasonable (around 10 bucks). Their naan melts in your mouth and their chana masala is the perfect texture. They refill your water after every sip you take. Just TRY emptying your glass! more
