Best

Stopped in for the Winter Spice menu and was actually surprised that the prices were very reasonable even off the spice menu. I had perhaps the best rib-eye I have ever experience...

Worst

It was with a great expectation that I entered the restaurant that Govind Armstrong has sway over on South Beach. I only wish that it could have lived up to the reputation that th...

good, good, good 2/5/2007

loved it, i've read all the reviews and wanted to give it a go.....loved it...good atmosphere, great food and very amiable staff...i don't know why all the fuss. i had to wait for my reservation - but i enjoyed the lounge - when i did get sat down the manager was very apologetic and sent me some champagne..... we had a great dinner and i went to chill out in the lounge after .... it was Superbowl weekend and i thought that i was going to hate everything - they pulled it off very well.... i will be back for sure. more

Best Vibe In town! Phenomenal Food!!!! 2/5/2007

Had an amazing meal and a great night. Was particularly impressed with the service, even in the midst of a chaotic Super Bowl Weekend. Had the Clams and calamari to start which was great and totally unique. Followed with perhaps the best grouper I've ever had. Loved my friends chickem0 nothing I would generally order in this fine of a restaurant, but it was amazing! Wine list was great, lot of range in price.. Deserts could improve...... Pros: food more

best food?....no.....best service?....no....best lie?...YES!!!!! 2/4/2007

This place is just a lie. I dont really see how people say that food here is the best in miami.....have you gone to other places? i really encourage you people to go to other places.....like the mark's south beach.....touch......pacific time.......and many more. I tried the sweet breads, nothing especial, the foie a way too sweet, soup, good and the calamaries, is there any? i ve seen only clams and broth. It was my second time dinning there and NOW! i can say that this place is not good at all. GROUPER and POMPANO....PLEASE!!!!!!!!!!!!!!TAKE THEM OUT OF THE MENU, they are horrible!!!!!!!pork just average and chicken just not a dish for this type of restaurant. The service wasn't good. the server was very pushy and and the water and bread as well as drinks took for ever to get to the table and he was a little rude but overall we had everything we asked for without problems. The guys who delivered the food did not describe any dish so we were guessing the ingredients on each dish. The hosstes was too fake, had an attitude and she talked too fast. She reminded me the host staff at cheesecake factory....be natural!!! i felt i was talking to the drive thru at wendys, very unconfortable. DESSERTS?????? PLEASE DON""T TRY THEM! just bad and poor presentation. The server dropped the check (around 600 4 ppl) and DIDN'T NOT MENTION THE TIP WAS INCLUDED, he was trying to make his weekend from my bill. The only good thing about his place is the great location Pros: location Cons: hostess, service, food, desserts more

Best food in Miami 2/4/2007

The food was great, much more refined than most of the ffod in town. The cocktails really excellent and the wine list impressive. This is definately a step up fo Miami Pros: great food, amazing cocktails, romantic lounge Cons: The couches in the lounge under the pool are hard to get more

OVER-HYPED! 2/3/2007

I have NEVER been so dissapointed in a celeb-chef's restaurant. The back of the room has absoulutely no view. Extremely rude treatment from the floor manager. The food was delivered at a break-neck pace, leaving no time to enjoy the wine or even digest the food. After asking them to slow down by the third course, (we ordered 4 courses meal) everything came to our table cold, tasteless (or over-salted) and unappealing. Supposedly the best food in miami beach (at least that is what this english manager told me)...I've had MUCH better at prime 112, azul, michy's, for about half the price! Don't waste your time, money or anticipation eating at table 8! \r \r Pros: Attentive server Cons: Terrible/cold food, Overpriced more

could this place survive??????? 2/3/2007

Very disappointed. I had high expectation since I'm a regular at Town. But food was good, but service is someting that needs huge improvements. First, front desk people were bunch of snobs, services uneven, food came out very fast(even before we finished our appetizers). These little things differentiate from the great restaurant to just another good restarant. I'm sure hotel crowd will help, but wondering with so many other great restaurants, why this one. \r \r Pros: food Cons: service, staff more

It could get better 2/1/2007

I had dinner there with my girlfriend and it wasn't as bad as you all say after all... It is true that they could do better... The hostess spoke sooooo fast that we had to repeat the conversation three times!!! And she did not speak spanish at all, which is a shame in Miami. She pretty much forced us to go sit at the bar but thankfully we didn't wait more than 10 minutes. We DIDN'T HAVE THE CHANCE to meet a bartender so we saved our decisions for dinner. The place was crowded and music was actually nice. The AC could use some touch ups and be moved away from the customers. Our waitress was a beautiful blond but didn't speak spanish either. Our drinks took forever to get to the table and we didn't even have menus to look at. At least, the drinks were good. When she gave us the menus she started acting like a robot. She talked and talked about her two favorite dishes and then disappeared. Of course, I had to translate it all to my girlfriend as well as the rest of the menu. The apps were great and came out fast. We did wait a lot longer for the entrees. I fell in love with my lamb dish and my wife really enjoyed her grouper. The tuna app was actually fantastic but very small on our opinion. We got a dessert called 3by8 and it was very good. We were never offered any coffee and when we got our check, she never told me about the gratuity being included. You have to pay attention on that if you go. I hated that. My point: The place is beautiful, food is great and the location can't get any better. But I'm sure that with a more intelligent waitress or waiter, a few more bartenders and a hostess without diva attitude, it could really get to be ""the spot"". I recommend you to try it. RM Pros: food and also the spot itself. It's amazing. Cons: AC, hostess and not being told about gratuity. more

read me! 2/1/2007

the food was good (what i would expect).the desserts arent worth their calories and the dining room still looks like a hotel restaurant, i has nothing special. i've been to better places. and the kicker of it all was the service--snooty. not to mention greedy. the bill was 191 with 2 glasses of wine. so we paid in cash (mistake) and waited for change....and waited....and waited....finally no change. the waiter kept over 10 dollars. after 30 min. we left. the funny part is that the tip was included and she didn t mention anything. i'm glad i didn't hold my breath. \r \r more

no no no no!!!!! not worth it at all 2/1/2007

We went to table 8 few nights ago,and got seated in the outside area. i ordered the chicken which was sort of salty and had no flavor.my date ordered the kobe steak and let me tell you it was burnt and overcooked. The waiters took the steak back and came back with another burnt steak. At those prices they better get there head straight. After we left table 8, we ended up at taco bell which was great and has never let us down.May be table 8 can send there cooks to taco bell for training for the food so they can learn more. \r \r Pros: burnt food Cons: taco bell more

We loved it. One of the best so far. 1/31/2007

We had a great time at Table 8. Everyone there was friendly and efficient. The wine list contained amazing selections and the sommelier was very helpful in choosing our wine for the evening. The appetizers made it to the table pretty fast. We tried the tuna and the foie. Both exquisite. We then had to wait a bit longer for the entrees but it was worth it. I had the lamb (as our waiter described and highly recommended) and my wife had the beef. We really enjoyed them both. The music could have been better and a bit louder but the whole experience was great. Our waiter was friendly and always had a good answer for all of our questions. Oh! , and he informed us about the gratuity being included. That was nice. I appreciated it. The place is beautiful and also the people. I recommend it. Pros: great food and service plus amazing location Cons: Music... not too bad but should get better. more

Sooo much better than Prime 112!!! 1/31/2007

CLOSED Pros: NONE NOW Cons: CLOSED more

Hot, HOt, HOT 1/30/2007

I didn't read the reviews here until my wife and I had already visited the restaurant 2 times. I was surprised to see all of the negative press. We absolutely love everything about the restaurant...the food, coffees, tee, sweets, decor and service are all top notch. A little expensive but who cares!!! Pros: nice people at front desk Cons: not very romantic more

Mediocre food....Incredibly Disappointing!!! 1/30/2007

I ate at this new ""hot spot"" last weekend for my b-day dinner. I was fored to wait at the bar even though there were many tables open! I think there are many restaurants in the immediate proximity that serve better food and has better services. Ordered the tuna tartar with hearts of palm and the calamaries for appetitizers. Both were better than the entrees. Lamb and baby chicken. lamb had no flavor and chicken was too salty. Save your money and go somewhere else. \r Pros: great location Cons: too expensive, bad food more

nothing special 1/28/2007

i think that this place is too expensive and the food is just ok!. the server was too pushy and she told us that the food was fantastic when it wasn t. The menu was very small, and not very well presented. The server over decribed the dishes and they were not as good as she said. Tuna; ok, pompano; not ok, sweetbreds, mmmm, average, chicken; too salty. i hope that the owners can understand that miami is very different from LA. We need more. Ahhh....the music was just horrible. i saw an article on the internet saying that paul oakenfold was the one who designed the music for the hotel ans restaurant and that s why i took my girlfriend there thinking that that place was very cool but i found out that this place was very cold, A/C to high. In LA must be very popular but here it won t if they don t get the idea of what miami is. I personally did not like it. Pros: cocktail waitresess Cons: food not good more

not recommended..... 1/28/2007

I went to Table 8 with my family that were visiting from Colombia. The hostesses did not speak spanish, in Miami; how is that possible?\r \r I was sent to the bar, almost an obligation to go spend money there. From there, I finally got the table. The server did speak spanish, but he wouldnt try hard enough. I felt very uncomfortable because my family did not understand anything from the menu. i think he was from Hawaii.\r \r The food... Too expensive for what I got. Oak lettuce salad, not worth it! Pompano was too fishy, and the pork was very dry and flavourless. This place is totally overrated and Im not coming back. Ill go back to Prime 112. Pros: None. Bad everything!! Cons: All Bad!!! more

Just what the Beach Needs!!! 12/23/2006

Finally a world class restaurant at the beach. And it's not over the top, not too formal, just amazing food in a killer environment. The service was just beyond! I generally avoid specialty drink menus, but when I saw what the guy next to me was having I had to try the Basil 8....took a few minutes to make, but when you see what goes into it, you understand why!\r \r No attitude from anyone, truly SERVICE oriented (take a lesson South Beach). As long as they dont let it get to their heads or slack off, this will be a one of a kind in South Beach. \r \r The design is beautiful, the wine room amazing, really just a flawless evening. Locals will know what I mean after they try it, there simply is nothing like it in South Beach.\r \r Keep it up Table 8 and you will be THE spot. \r \r Pros: Food, service, ambiance, music, easy parking Cons: gonna be tough to get a rez in another month! more

worth the wait!! 12/20/2006

finally table 8 is open. we have been waiting for this place to open forever! amazing food, great atmosphere, and the staff totally break the mould of the typical south beach service - they are engaging, knowledgable about the menu and very friendly (even the hostesses don't have an attitude!!!) we had some outragous cocktails at the bar with fresh grapes and basil (basil 8?) and a watermelon & jalapeno drink. sweetbreads with real black truffles were heavenly and the pompano was perfect. i was dissapointed that the porterhouse was not on the menu though (apparantly you have to call ahead?) - i even got to meet the chef, - he's as hot as his food! Pros: food, service, ambiance Cons: valet was not working when i went - although told it would be running by the 23rd more
