The Worst!!!!!! 3/13/2010

I've had enough. I have gone to this guy for over 15years. He was on my insurance and I have not needed much work. He has complained about the fact that he hasn't made enough money on me. The work he has done has been poor and now he is refusing to do one crown because he wioll crack the next tooth. Had a second opinion and I don't need either. He will waste your time and money and is nasty and arrogant. Stay away!!!!!! Cons: Bad dentist bad guy bad attitude more

Bad dentist, but at least he's expensive 1/26/2010

I gave Goldy a poor reveiw on Yelp. He asked for the reasons why. So I created a citysearch account just so I could share my special experience with Dr. Goldy. Here was my reply to him... ""I feel the treatment you recommend is always the treatment that will pay you the most. You do very little actual dental work and when you do it's not done well. You destroyed a crown and I had to demand that you fix it, and when you agreed you only agreed on the stipulation that I buy a mouth guard. Maybe I need a mouth guard, but you should have fixed your mistake regardless. Even Dr. Wass was shocked you let me walk out of the office after grinding down to the metal on a new crown. I had a tooth that you thought was close to a cavity and instead of treating the cavity you decided the best treatment was to put a crown on it. That tooth has just been extracted by another dentist who's opinion I trust more than yours. I am paying him out of pocket for an implant because of what I view as a bad treatment option you gave me. I realize your office is in Beverly Hills but not everyone has money to burn the way I'm sure some of your clients do. Your office also treated my wife briefly, she has never had a cavity in her life, but you were trying to warn her about ""problem areas to keep an eye on."" The dentists she has gone to following you have found no such issues. I feel I wasted thousands of dollars and probably more money in the future to fix issues from your treatment. I showed up for one appointment and it had been mysteriously rescheduled, and your secretary told me I had changed it, which I hadn't. These are some of the reasons for my harsh words."" Cons: Bad Dentistry, Expensive more

AVOID AT ALL COSTS 12/22/2009

I signed up for Citysearch just to write this review. When I was looking for a dentist, i saw the CS reviews were mixed, and figured ""ah, I'm sure he's probably okay, some people liked him."" I was wrong. Four words: AVOID AT ALL COSTS I go to this guy because he's on my plan, and they tell me (rightfully, i'm sure) that I need a crown; I sign up for the procedure, and come back the next week for the first of the two-step process. I'm sitting in the chair and they hand me a big pile of paperwork to sing. One form lists the charges, and notes that they're going to charge me an additional $600 worth of work above what my insurance will cover. I tell them that the things they're charging me for may well be totally valid, but before spending $600 I want to get a second opinion, and walk out. Cut two two weeks later - i get CC:ed on a letter they sent my insurance co., saying I've violated the patient/doctor trust, and they are cutting me loose. Apparently asking for a second opinion counts as me not trusting them - and apparently with good freakin' cause! Truly, they posses immense chutzpah. Just not in a good way. Amazingly, they also told the insurance company that ""patient not following recommended treatment plan."" Apparently, their treatment plan recommends not checking with other dentists before letting them screw me over. These are bad, bad people. Cons: Liars and cheats more

I've waited years for this!!!!!!! 12/20/2009

I've waited for years to warn people! When this first happened, there was no internet review system. I filed a complaint with the BBB. The story. Me, my girlfriend, and my best friend all had the same experience with Steven Goldy “DDS.” I go for my annual cleaning and find this guy on my new company's insurance plan list. The receptionists have you fill out and sign a MASSIVE amount of paperwork before you begin, including a “you will be charged $50 instantly” document (I now realize this is to get money from those that are smart enough to walk out the door!) Dr. Goldy walks in with an incredible suntan, unbuttoned shirt, and a gold chain! Seriously! Then he brags about how he just came back from a tropical vacation with his family! $$$$$$$. He literally looks at my teeth and pretends to touch it with the pick for LESS than a minute, before sending me to a back room WITHOUT A WORD. I sit like a scene out of “Clockwork Orange” as an assistant presses play on a several minute video explaining an incredible tooth removal and replacement surgery! I'm young! I don't eat sugar or drink sodas! “Dr.” Goldy then strolls in and tells me I have a huge cavity and the whole tooth needs to be removed, then tells me that this is a procedure that my insurance will NOT cover and that it will be a couple thousand + out of pocket price range!!! MY HEART SANK. He tapped the tooth with a pick several times and I DID NOT feel the pick stick. When you have a cavity the pick sticks into the hole of the tooth. My girlfriend and I fled the scene immediately! We were both charged $50 to our credit cards. I fought with no avail. Then we found a new dentist and asked “Dr” Goldy's office for copies of our X-Rays, they refused even though we offered to pay a fee for the copies!!!!! Another suspicious sign, i.e. evidence of healthy teeth. I had to have my head X-Rayed again and pay out of pocket because Goldy used up my insurance for the year!!! My new dentist found nothing, NOTHING wrong with either of our teeth. I have seen two other dentists and have been cavity free the entire time!!!!!! Turns out my best friend randomly called me a year later with the same story... new job, new insurance, a horrible experience. I asked him who he went to... Dr. Goldy, of course! We can laugh about it now. We still retell the story as “remember when you went to see Dr. Death!” THANK YOU CITYSEARCH AND INTERNET REVIEWS!!! BTW he preys on the elderly. Pros: Great acting skills Cons: Con artist more

not recomended 7/22/2009

Dr Goldy was not kind and seemed somewhat short with me-he did not make me feel comfortable and I am looking for a new dentist after just 1 visit. I do however think his staff is very kind.... more

Bad Experience 7/20/2009

My experience here was just awful!!! My treatment was also painful and expensive, and it didn't really help. He doesn't seem to care. I felt like it was all about $$$. Very sad. Cons: Very Unsatisfied more

Dr. Goldy is the best! Five stars, all the way! 6/15/2009

The fourth time is the charm! I swear I tried three other dentist's offices before I finally settled on him as my permanent provider. I had been avoiding dental work for the past 6 years so you can imagine how much work I needed to have done. Call me picky but I wanted to go somewhere where I felt comfortable. Everyone in the office is friendly, and they bent over backwards to accommodate my busy work schedule. They also put up with my dental chicken attitude, which was big for me.\r \r Most importantly my stepfather is a retired dentist so I was of course checking every recommendation out with him before authorizing any work. Dr. Goldy was the only dentist of the four that I visited whose recommendations lined up with those of my stepfather. It seemed everyone else I had visited was out to make a profit first and foremost. Dr. Goldy (while I'm sure still making a profit- rent in Beverly Hills can't be cheap) obviously had my best interests in mind. Not only can I say that he did wonderful work and made me feel comfortable, he passed the fraud test of my retired stepfather.\r \r Oh, and he's a Trojan. I guess that's all I really needed to say. I highly recommend Dr. Goldy to anyone who is looking for an awesome Dentist in the Los Angeles area! Pros: Good taste in music. Listen to his iPod. Cons: He's a dentist. duh. more

Great Dentist 6/13/2009

I thought I had a wonderful dental experience upon my last visit. The staff was polite and courteous. Dr Goldy was calming yet professional Pros: Great ambiance, Excellent professionalism more

con artist 5/18/2009

My son had to have cavities filled, so at first when he gave me a high price I told him forget it, too expensive. Then he had his assistant go over the prices and we were able to send a predetermination to my Insurance Co.;, who would cover the whole cost, of a cheaper version of the original bill. Well, what he nor his assistant failed to tell me is that before the cavities were to be filled, he put a desentsizer on his teeth, so there won't be any pain afterwards. I by no means agreed to this. He charged me 85$ a tooth for this, and I specifically went over the cost with the assistant, that nothing was to come out of my pocket. My son had 17, yes 17 cavities according to Dr. Goldy, and now he wanted me to pay 85.00 extra per tooth, something I would never have agreed on, but they snuck that in. He is arrogant and rude. Will never go back, ripoff!!!!!! Cons: lies more

Highly Professional & Quality Service 11/12/2008

The staff members are friendly and Dr. Goldy & Dr. Woss are both very professional. It is difficult to schedule an appt. as there is a long wait. Otherwise, quality service by the professionals. more

Nice office 10/27/2008

Dr Goldy is a good dentist, although he is expensive. His office is very nice and he does quality work. It's hard to get an apt for a cleaning because they are booked way in advance. Pros: Staff, Office Cons: Hard to get a appointment more

HORRIBLE 10/2/2008

Several weeks ago I developed excruciating pain in tooth #14. I had to leave work in order to pursue this matter. I went to Dr. Goldy?s office at 10am on a weekday in order to get this resolved and he was not in the office. The office was not able to reach him even though this was an emergency. At this point, I had to emergently find another dentist who would see me and help me with my pain. \r \r Dr. Sherman Zieve was wonderful and took wonderful care of me. He referred me to Dr. Martin, who was not covered by my plan and instead I saw Dr. Sprague, a wonderful endodontist. \r \r The most humorous part of the whole story is that several weeks later I got a letter from Dr. Goldy's office re: breaking the doctor/patient relationship. \r \r Find yourself ANOTHER dentist. more

bad dentist 9/18/2008

it's very hard to find a good dentist these days and dr. goldy proves it. the work he did for me was painful and expensive. bad dentist Cons: painful, expensive, waste of time more

Teeth, Wallets and Schedules [*>BEWARE<*]... 9/18/2008

Dr. Goldy will work your insurance company & your wallet over more than your teeth. His prices are inflated and completely discretionary (beware the ""I'll give you a discount"" speech followed by the form you'll have to sign - a discount on overpriced is still overpriced. You won't be getting a deal.)... \r \r But most importantly - his work is painful and poor. \r \r You'll probably need multiple visits for even the simplest of treatments -- (1) consultation, (2) x-rays, (3) cleaning, and (4) fillings... so if you choose him as your DDS, be prepared to spend a lot of time in the office. For non-routine work like onlays, crowns, or fillings, you'll pay out-of-pocket at a Beverly Hills rate to get anything presentable... but you'll probably have to return for 'do-over' - as Dr. Goldy likely won't get it right the first time.\r \r Dr. Goldy barks orders at his assistants and office staff, and ""mmmmmKay's"" his patients through their treatments. On a personal level, he is arrogant broaching on rude, and is completely unapologetic for the 1-2 hours you'll spend in his waiting room or the multiple visits you'll have to make. \r \r In stark contrast to Dr. Goldy, the office staff is actually very nice and effective (though you can tell that under their smiles and despite their ""Rude patients will be charged $10 sign,"" they, themselves are not happy with their boss). The hygienist is also very polite, nice and altogether thorough... but you may have a time of it trying to get an appointment, as she's pretty booked up. \r \r My recommendation? Do yourself a serious favor -- find another dentist - this one is really bad. Pros: Capable Hygenist and Office Staff Cons: Bad Technique, Ineffective, Painful, Costly, Arrogant, Unapologetic more
