Was excited to try it, but a little let down 5/17/2010

We came here with a big group (8 people) which was our first mistake, all of their tables are nailed down to the floor? Which meant we had to squish around 1 small table. Luckily we forgot about how crammed we were after we started eating the bread they brought to our table - holy moly! It's from their sister-establishment Best Buns, they were like miny donuts. I could have eaten them all day! For my main course I had the Southwest Chicken Salad, and it was OK, but really nothing memorable. I think other people at the table were a little more pleased with their dishes, but honestly all we could talk about was how great the bread was! We did sit outside (b/c honestly it smelled so weird in the restaurant!), and their outside area is huge, and the bar area is really pretty. If it wasn't so far away from where we lived I'd go back to enjoy a brew or two! Pros: Great decor, yummy bread Cons: smelled weird inside, not good for big groups more

Really is a Great American Restaurant 3/12/2010

I have only been to Sweetwater 3 or 4 times but I have never had a bad experience. My mouth literally waters every time I think about their half-chicken dish and I absolutely love the rolls/dough the give before the meal. The atmosphere here is american but rustic in a way that reminds me of trips to Wyoming. Although they are a chain it is far from your average TGIFs or Ruby Tuesday type of meal. The restaurant is a great place to take out of town guests that are picky about food and just want a quality American meal at an affordable price. I look forward to the next time I can make a trip out. Pros: Fantastic portions and options more

Love it 2/14/2006

Have dined here many times. The atmosphere is casual and a welcomed departure from the chains. I have never received better service than with the staff at Sweetwater. The food is simple, American style fare, prepared perfectly every time. Hand crafted beers and bread/bked goods from their own bakery, are a treat. Call ahead from seating as it is VERY crowded almost every night of the week. more

Cowboy Chic with Handcrafted Beer 10/4/2004

This casual, cowboy chic restaurant is a departure from its chain restaurant competition, offering an outdoor bar and dining area overlooking a lake. Indoor dining is noisy yet comfortable. The menu focuses on beef and seafood. The blue jeaned, white aproned wait staff is quick and efficient, taking a gang approach to serving your table. Prime rib was properly cooked to my desired degree of doneness and was competently rendered (taste BEFORE using condiments - the reduction sauce served with the rib is salty.) The Caesar salad was wonderful, though not for the feint of palate - fresh greens dressed in robust garlic flavors with an easily discernable note of anchovy. The mixed vegetables, a medley of squashes, onions, tomatoes, basil and cheese are a must try! The menu offers at least five handcrafted beers - check the chalkboard over the front doors to find what's been freshly brewed. Pros: Casual, Great Service, Outdoor Dining avail more
