After moving here, I tried many dentists in the Long Beach area with both HMO and PPO insurance. I am picky. After visiting a couple of dirty and rude places I came here. I also had a negative attitude to begin with, after the dentist told me all of my dental problems (their job, by the way) and how they can be improved. I was starting to get some pain in my back teeth. They scheduled me immediately when I said I was in pain. Their pictures clearly showed the cracks in my teeth due to a life time of fillings. I had to get a couple of root canals, which cost me about $30 each. The crowns were a fortune, but they are expensive everywhere. There is no such thing as a cheap crown. I didn't get the expensive ceramic crowns, like they recommended. They told me the full crowns would cause problems at the gum line. I thought they were trying to make more money. They were right, though. I wish I had listened and not felt like they were scamming me (obviously I am not the only one who got the impression). They said that I would need crowns on more molars soon, and I felt scammed and went to a PPO dentist recommended by a friend. I developed pain in another molar, and that dentist told me it was due to clinching teeth. When I had extreme pain he said it would cost $2000 to fix. I came back to LB Dental arts. Much better. They know what they are doing. I got the more expensive ceramic crown this time and it so comfortable that I wish I had done that before. No problems at all. Long Beach Dental Arts are so popular their office has tripled in size. Now the wait is not as long as it used to be, and they will always work around my schedule and change appointments at the last minute if I have a conflict. They are very friendly and it is very obvious that they want to save my teeth. I have compared prices. There isn't much difference with the HMO dentists. The prices are set by the insurance companies. That is a different story. The x-rays and pictures never cost me anything. If I am uncomfortable, they will adjust. They work with my schedule and are great for my child as well. The office is open until 7:30 so I don't have to take off work. The happy people don't seem to comment here much, obviously, but don't go in with a negative attitude by reading all of the other comments. Believe me, I have seen many dentists in the area, and probably over 20 offices in my adult life - with insurance (both HMO and PPO) and without insurance. This place is one of the best, if not the best, that I have ever experienced. I am very happy with Long Beach Dental Arts. Give them a try, and don't let the pictures or their announcement of your problems shock you. They have state of the art equipment and they do know what they are doing. more

My daughter was extreamly nervous (5yrs old) and your dental staff was wonderful, especially our x-ray tech/hygenist. He explained things for her understanding and as he engaged her in conversation, she was able to relax. He really set the tone for a wonderful dental experience. more

Absolutely no wait after I checked in..I was promptly taken in. Initial visit (dentist) for consultation (digital x-rays/pictures) I felt were very thorough to provide me as a new patient to this office an understanding of how best to evaluate dental treatments that may be recommended.I perceived the dentist was actually monitoring the x-ray's as they were taken/digitally displayed for both myself to see an him (separate room). Appeared dentist provided feedback to tech 'on-the-fly' (ie: a view may need to be retaken) which is a much enhanced way of conducting such x-ray review (saves everyone time). Hygentist that conducted cleaning was thorough and I felt provided a comfortable experience. Interaction with estimate/billing department was also quite acceptable and was prepared/presented in a way that minimized the amount of time I needed to spend in the office and was clearly understandable (my patient vs insurance costs). more

I was really surprised that there were several Service pods in one office, so that several patients can be serviced at once. My Dr. is also in the building on the first floor, so if I have to come to see either Dr., it's just (one building) that I have to go to which is in a good part of town. more

The technology of this office is amazing. This just shows how far dentistry has come since the old days where they used equipment you see in a horror films. They also take the time to explain everything, and do so in a very understandable manner. It's not a short ""you have a cavity, you need a filling"" it's a full explanation of what's happening, why, what will happen if left untreated, what procedures are available and the pros/cons of each of them, and so on. It made me feel much more comfortable to know that they're so knowledgeable and willing to explain everything. In short, I think this is the first dentist I've ever had where I feel like something more than an income stream. They actually care about my health and work to keep my out of the office (except for regular check-ups and cleanings, of course). more
