Worst

They try to serve authentic Japanese food...Food is somewhat OK, right below average. When I ordered food, grilled fish came out underdone, and nikujaga came out way too soupy.

Most authentic in Atlanta 10/25/2008

Sushi Yoko is the most authentic restaurant we have found based on our numerous trips to Japan. Tomo-san is an excellent host and chef. The staff is very friendly and helpful in describing the new menu items, which change periodically, leading to new eating adventures. Fish freshness and variety is excellent and supremely prepared. We look forward to visiting Sushi Yoko weekly. Pros: diverse, authentic menu more

Great experience!!! 7/23/2008

My husban and I were looking for a good place to get sushi (for me) and cooked japanese fare (for him), and we stumbled upon Sushi Yoko in Norcross. The service was great, all the servers were very helpful. I asked a bunch of questions which didn't annoy them at all. We tried several items on the menu: Pros: authentic, fresh, great service Cons: none!!! more

Sushi Yoko 7/2/2008

Dont go if youre used to long, leisurely lunches. They close the restaurant at 2pm and if youre there any longer, they will pretty much kick you out and not apologize. good luck with that scrappy American business men! more

traditional 4/30/2008

Sushi Yoko is a very small restaurant outside of the Perimeter. It's a bit out of the way and located off the highway. If you get lost, you have to turn around. The atmosphere gives out a good Japanese vibe. They have very good sushi and other tasty traditional Japanese foods. Pros: food, price Cons: location more

authentic experience, convenient japanese market next door, great sushi! 1/12/2008

I love their sushi, their sashimi, their grilled halibut, the service. But most of all, I love the fact that most of japanese-atlantans are frequent patrons and enjoy lunch and dinner there. Their oyako domburi is almost as good as mine! Pros: price is excellent, taste is excellent Cons: a little out of the way -- just outside the perimeter more

the other of the two worst sushi place in metro Atl. 9/18/2007

I wonder if code enforcement ppl ever visited this place. Everywhere is built with filmsy dry walls, the rest room is dirty and service is nonexistance by hispanic waitresses in kimonos-for a moment I thought I was in Mexico. The sorry decor and service rec'd mirror to Umezono on Cobb Pkwy in Smyrna. I'd be insane to spend another cent at this place. Cons: Sloppy prepared food, bad service, dangerous infrastructure, dirty restroom more

Enjoyable japanese food 7/6/2007

I have gone here to lunch a couple of times and once for dinner with my husband. I think that the lunch portions for the lunch combos are ample and definitely reasonable. I love the food. I think that the service is definitely 'unamerican' but there is no disrespect intended. They have never been rude or lazy. Pros: More than just sushi, authentic Cons: 'unamerican' service, crowded at lunch time more

Frugal servings, poor service, and a real flea-bag dump of a location. 2/5/2007

I was excited to try this place having been a long time customer of the former owner, Sushi Yoshi. During the first visit, despite our having made reservations for the sushi bar, we were diverted unapologetically to a table lit by bright fluorescents and a blaring TV. The food and service were both ho-hum. Pros: Hard to say. The sushi is edible? Cons: Poor servers. Dirty appearance. more

fresh sushi 10/2/2006

Dined with a good friend for lunch today.. had a great experience, what an authentic sushi place should be... lots of japenese people in the place, so no lack of atmosphere... fresh sushi, good service. We only ordered sushi so cant speak of anything else but YES THE FISH WAS FRESH and AWESOME. We will be going back very very soon, perhaps next Tues. just keep in mind they close at 2pm for lunch... also the prices were great.. quality excellent!! Pros: authentic, fresh more

This place is dangerous. 9/3/2006

It was disgusting restaurant experience for all my live in the USA. On the wall the insect was creeping above our table, but we already made the order. When we started to eat the dead insect was found in the mustard. It's unbelievable, that I was so ""lucky"" to see the insects in the United States restaurant, for the same evening, for 2 times. What is the department of Infection Control and Public Health thinking about it? The waiters told us sorry, but the manager even didn't come to us to say sorry. I've been eating there for one year, but never to come there again. I don't know where should I claim the complaint about it. People, be awarded, that place is dangerous. Pros: disgusting Cons: disgusting more

Delicious, authentic Japanese salary man's fare! 7/11/2006

The food is an excellent value. Sometimes the service is overworked, but this ain't McDonalds! Don't go in a hurry- they have plenty of hardcore regulars who don't mind waiting (including myself), as the lunch combos are a super value unmatched in Atlanta. Recommended: Sushi & Sanma (grilled pike fish) combo- prepare to pick your way through a lot of little bones on the grilled fish, it's absolutely worth the effort! Pros: Good value, fresh food Cons: Overworked staff with occasional attitude more

Excellent sushi - Horrible service! 8/24/2005

Sushi are great, however the service is the worst...Waitresses are never smiling, at the end of lunch they literally trying to kick you out of the place. I hope for this restaurant to improve its servicing style to more friendly and welcoming. more

Quaint 10/12/2004

Although the outside appearance where this restaurant is housed can turn away many people, I'm glad we chose to try it. The hallway leading to the restaurant entrance can also make you think twice, but the establishment itself I found to be warm and homey. Quaint I think, although to some it would probably be best described as cramped. The servers dressed in kimono were friendly and they have an extensive menu that I don't even remember. All I know is that we liked the food. The scallop appetizer was succulent, my sushi and nigiri weren't the best, but they were fresh. My husband really enjoyed his mackarel meal and it's a place we wouldn't mind visiting again. more

Poor Japanese food 10/9/2002

Sushi was not fresh, the rice not made right. The kitchen was also not very tasty. The only good thing about this restaurant is that it is cheap, which is why it is still in business. But I'd rather spend a little more to eat at a much better restaurant. more

Worthwhile 9/24/2002

Great for lunch b/c it's cheap! Some items are not recommended, but stick to the basic japanese and you're ok. Pros: inexpensive more

tastysushi 9/20/2002

No fancy handrolls nor hibachi grills, Sushi Yoko provides a great environment for traditional and tasty Japanese cuisine. Definely one of the best in ATL. Pros: Inexpensive, fresh more

Setting The Standard for Atlanta 8/4/2002

If you want an authentic Japanese resturant with excellent food and great service look no further. Do not be put off by the warehouse look of the buildings exterior. Prices are reasonable and the waitresses and sushi chef are warm and welcoming. This is a resturant that will become a regular on your short list of great places to eat. There is also a great Japanese grocery store at the same location. Pros: food, service, friendliness more

100% 8/2/2002

what a nice place!!!! i wish i could go to Sushi Yoko everyday.. Pros: inexpensive, fast, fresh Cons: frendly, good location more

sushiiific!!! 7/27/2002

SUSHI YOKO is definitely IT! Finally the most delicious, authentic yet affordable sushi restaurant has arrived in Atlanta!! When you dine at Sushi Yoko, you feel as if you'd already been to Japan because they have the best at-home-taste Japanese food in town!! more
