Sushi Shoken

One of my close friend took me to this restaurant along with 3 other people. The atmosphere is very nice, bit dark and moody. I especially loved the interior styles and the lighting adjustments. Made it feel stylish and sharp! What I found more attractive though were the glorious food that was served in front of me. I believe it was the Westridge and Magic Mountain rolls. Compared to other sushi restaurants that I visited in Santa Clarita, I believe these rolls were the best. I ordered additional california and spicy tuna rolls as well and I just had to take it home :) The waiter was also very nice, taking care of the group continuously when in need. I strongly recommend visiting here! more

a got a ""lunch A special"" which consist of 4 pieces of sushi (it was fresh) and either a spicy tuna roll or a salmon roll. I chose the spicy tuna roll. When I opened the box at home. I was so disappointed with the spicy tuna roll. It look like the ones you buy at the grocery store... and tasted like it also... I'm never going back there! Pros: Smiley faces. There are numerous sushi restaurent in valencia, but i especially like sushi shoken because of there freshness. Sushi shoken is a very good restaurant in my opinion, especially the service and the sushi. I go there once about 3 days are so, and they greet me as if i was their best friend. My wife and I are regulars here. Chefs greet you when you walk in. People are all smiles and service. They will make special orders for you and cater to your needs. It is in a convenient location with plenty of parking. Located in the Alberton's shopping center at Valencia Blvd and The Old Road. I recommend it. I have been looking for a good sushi restaurant in SCV and I came across SUSHI SHOKEN, formerly known as SUSHI KATANA. While I am more about the food than service when it comes to dining, I have to say SUSHI SHOKEN FAILED MISERABLY in both aspects. \r \r 1) The quality of their sushi and sashimi tasted amateur, sloppy and VERY FISHEY\r \r 2) Their presentation was WAY BELOW AVERAGE - given that some of their cut rolls looked about as appetizing as something my 3-year old Danish nephew could have rolled up using his feet\r \r 3) Considering their price point, I truly felt ""Ripped - Off"" during and after my meal\r \r 4) and MOST OF ALL, the biggest issue I had with this place was their HORRENDOUS level of service:\r \r a- The main waitress had a highly ""condescending"" and unpleasant attitude when interacting with her customers.\r b- Their ""average"" atmosphere became even less average by their choice of their unfittingly ""whiney"" country music on repeat mode\r c- One of their waiter was so crude and unfriendly that he seemed to belong more in a Martial Arts training facility than serving in a restaurant\r d- and their overall UNFRIENDLY service made me feel not only uncomfortable but had me leaving with this simmering sense of anger I just could not shake for the rest of the evening.\r \r My theory is, NO ONE deserves this kind of misery when attempting to enjoy their dining experience with their family. For years I've been waiting for a place like this to open in the SCV. The fish is some of the freshest I've had, and the pieces are HUGE - only bad thing is the Sushi Menu & preparation style doesn't change (i.e. Albacore is always seared, etc...). The rest of the menu's special items change frequently and are always inventive & tasty... Can get expensive, but well worth it in my book... Must try the Yellow Tail Belly & Barron Point Oysters...
