After living in Japan for 3 years, I came back in 1999 and had not found a good sushi bar -- until now. Sushi on the Run has some of the most authentic, delicious sushi anywhere. Despite the unassuming nature of this place, the chef knows his stuff. The fish is soft and tender; never ever tough or fishy. The rice is soft with the right amount of vinegar. There best items on the menu are not the complicated rolls, but the simple maguro, hamachi, and unagi nigiri.
Many U.S. sushi bars use refrigerated rice, but authentic sushi bars in Japan usually use room-temperature rice, which is tastier and softer. On the other hand, very warm rice (mentioned by another reviewer) is bad; it could cook the fish. When I visited, the rice was just right.
I will be coming down regularly from San Francisco to eat here!
Pros: authentic, fresh, authentic!
Cons: small, no decor
