I love sashimi, and this place serves some of the freshest in town. Sushi is also good. I recommend the Rock N' Roll roll... There's also a roll that's not on the menu for spice lovers. Fire Roll is extremely spicy and will have your tongue on fire. I order that every time. The only downside is that this place is extremely pricey, even for sushi. If money wasn't an object for me I would've given it 5 stars. more

Sushi @ the Lake is awesome! It is one of my family's favorite places to eat. We eat there at least once a week. The atmosphere is not uptight at all, and the decor is rock n' roll inspired. The servers and Moon the owner treat us like friends...they learn their customer's likes very quick. The servers are all friendly and great service! My favorite maki roll is the Rock n' Roll...the spicy soft shell crab on top is the best! The new menu options are great...egg rolls, new rolls, and awesome plate decorations. They could introduce more dessert options though. Green tea ice cream, and/or sherbert maybe?!? The price is not too expensive but not a cheap place. Sushi is expensive no matter where you go, but the food is def. worth every penny. Fresh! more

I have not been to Sushi at The Lake in a while and when I walked it I was amazed at how nice it looks and the smiling faces at the door. The new renovations look very good in addition to the extended bar. My husband and I waited at the bar for a table and enjoyed the personalities of both bartenders working. Once we sat down, our server was very attentive, mature, and helpful while describing new rolls and the new format of the menu- HELPFUL TO THE MAX!! I would recommend this restaurant to anyone that loves sushi and a relaxing atmosphere. Great people, great service, and awesome food. My boyfriend and I go to S@TL at LEAST once a week for lunch..when we walk in, we have 'our' table, Jamie rattles off our usual orders, to make sure nothing has changed..and all we have to do is sit, wait a few minutes, and eat! It's definately a welcoming atmosphere, and VERY affordable with the lunch specials!! I would recommend that everyone try it! :) more

After many years of using Citysearch, I'm posting my first review... b/c of this restaurant. My husband and I just moved to the area and were looking for good, local sushi. Based on the other positive reviews, we decided to try Sushi at the Lake. We ordered endamame, salads, and sushi. Though the endamame were woefully overcooked, the rest of the meal was quite good. We eat a lot of sushi and found the sushi quality to be good, and the salads (seaweed & cucumber) were very good. The prices were moderate for sushi - by no means a great price, but also not overly expensive. However, and I say this with strong emphasis, the atmosphere (previously described as "young" or "casual" - and we're both, by the way) was unpleasant and not at all what we would have been looking for... we very nearly left b/c of it. Sure, this is a personal preference thing... but it was blaringly loud, there were sports-filled televisions everywhere. I left with a splitting headache, and I don't mind a little music. It had the atmosphere of an extremely loud sports bar, where they happened to serve Japanese food. It was unpleasant enough for us that we definitely will *not* be going back, despite the good food. However if you like this kind of scene, Sushi on the Lake may just be your cup of tv- and noise-filled green tea. Pros: Food Cons: Atmosphere more

Place is always consistant with taste and freshness, always excellent, it dont seem as good as it was before they had the fire but probably still the best sushi in charolette, i drive from south carolina just to go here for sushi, my only concern after the fire was if Stephanie was coming back, and she did. I went to Ru-San's the other nite because it has 5 stars and let me tell u, its not even close to the quality that u get at sushi at the lake, this is the best place to get sushi probably in north carolina, Pros: nice looking crowd there, its upbeat, Stephanie the hostess, and the quality and taste of the food is always great Cons: really dont have any, i always walked away satisified more

Great spot, great sushi, great service and laid-back atmosphere. Took a friend from out of town and it made a great impression. Lived in Atlanta, Boston, NYC and Sushi at the Lake stacks up to the best sushi haunts in all cities. Give it a try and have fun. Pros: Food, Service, Owner Cons: Need more locations more

This is the place to go if you are used to real, good sushi that you would get at the best places in LA or NY. The hibachi is also great and the snow crab cakes are to die for! The service is usually good but there is a wait ot 30-45 minutes on Fri/Sat night if you don't reserve! It's nice that you can sit at a regular table OR a hibachi grill for the show. My only gripe is that you can smoke in NC restuarants and the smell from the bar can sometimes travel across the restaurant to the NS section. but if you want excellant Sushi in Charlotte with a young crowd atmosphere, this is the place. Not everyone can do sushi right, but this place compares with New York and San Francisco. There is eye candy for everyone here. more

I am confused. I don't know whether I'm in a rock and roll bar, or a disco or a sports bar. The food is so-so, you can get this in any "sushi" restaurant, nothing different.
