Best sushi in LA 8/18/2007

Simply the best sushi and best service anywhere in LA, and I've been to them all from Katsuya and Sushi Mac to Sushi Roku and Matsuhisa, and dozens in between. From the outside, you would never think that Sushi 101 is anything special. It's just in a tiny strip mall in North Hollywood. But the food is more than I ever expected. They don't have a huge menu, but everything I've ordered there has been delicious. Pros: Great sushi, free parking, excellent service. Cons: A little pricey on the individual sushi orders. more

Yummy sushi! 10/29/2006

Great place, great sushi, friendly neighborhood atmosphere... Love the ishiaki and the spicey tuna rice cake thingy!! Great for a mellow night with friends or a date. Clean and basic, no bells or whistles, just great food. more

My favorite sushi 8/7/2006

The place is small, but quaint. The people are friendly and the service is great. I have been goiung here for years and the food is fresh and creative. Try the ishiaki (cook your own meat on a very hot rock!) and the spicy tuna (the smooth texture and flavor is delicious, yes, it is a little pricey but it is worth it to me. I also love the rice cake with tuna and fried onions! Yoshi is a great waiter...he always remembers you and what you like! try it!! Pros: fresh sushi, good beer and sake selections Cons: a little $$$ but worth it more

Pricey, But Decent 12/4/2002

Basic sushi, but it's good and fresh! Not much of a selection as far as rolls go, and sushi was $4 and up for a plate (of only two pieces). Very average. I would rather go to Sushi Mac where it's 2.50 a plate and you get bigger, tasyier pieces of salmon. Regardless, I'm glad I tried it. Pros: parking lot, rainbow roll, sake list Cons: not a huge selection, overpriced more
