Editorial review from Citysearch 1/15/2014

I just thought I would take a moment to brag on the staff and management at The Sunshine House. When we first arrive in the morning we always feel welcomed by everyone we see. All the teachers go over and beyond for my child who does struggle sometimes. They always get him transitioned in easily and he enjoys his time spent there. He even cries some days when it is time to leave! I look forward to having my future child, Joshua, here in the future as well. more

I thought I would be the only one who had a negative review, but apparently I am not. Not a good school!!! And if your child has any kind of behavioral issues, then they will not try to help them, they will just try to kick them out of the school!!! The management team is not loving to children one bit and they do keep on switching the classrooms too much!!! more

poor supervision of infants 12/3/2008

They constantly put the older babies in the same room as the younger ones. My baby comes home with scratches from other babies all the time. Its not his fault he can't get away from the older baby (I was recently called at work and told that another baby scratched my son while the other baby was taking a toy away from him.) This happened while my baby was sitting in a swing, and so another baby was standing next to the swing and I have witnessed this other baby trying to climb into the swings and bouncer seats while other babies were in it! where was the supervision there??? I know kids are kids and this is minor.. but they are supposed to be in separate room. I really feel they have too few staff. One day my baby got an extra bottle..and it wasn't his! The afternoon staff's response ""Well it was really hectic here today"". NOT a good excuse. there should be no excuses. These are infants they are being trusted with. Hectic is not an excuse for quality care and for, I'm sorry, making sure a baby gets his OWN bottle and not someone elses! Pros: Staff training Cons: sometimes the cleaning staff have to give babies their bottles... more

Appearances are deceiving 6/9/2008

In viewing the outdoor and indoor maintenance it is as beautiful as advertised. After leaving your child to go to work your child is switched from room to room (no matter the age of the child.) having no stability of learning from one teacher and when the child is put in another room he/she is not learning anything because he/she are playing. There are many teachers who say they go over learning patterns with the child but the majority of the teachers are reading to some kids who will sit and listen while the other children run around the classroom. There have been instances caught from the teacher screaming at the child. (Some households the kids are spoken to about their actions not screamed at.) I have even witnessed a mother crying because she observed her baby on the floor in the room being walked over (the mom was concerned that some one would accidently step on her daughter because the teacher was not paying attention.) When you have questions for upper management there are no answers and the only thing given is an attitude because they do not know the answer and apparently do not try to find the answer. There is no respect from this facilities management to parents or children. If you are looking for a reputable school and think this school better, look into it by asking questions (observe if the person is trying to give you an answer or brush you off), observing your child's behavior, suprise visits to your son or daughters class room and even listen while walking down the hall. Stay in tuned with your child's class with learning updates (go over it with your child-sometimes it shows that what they say there doing is not what they are doing.) When advertising a exceptional learning curriculum you expect it. When you start getting excuses as to why in the length of time your child has been there and nothing has been learned ..face it your not paying for your child to learn to paying for your child to be watched as a daycare...not a learning facility. Pros: Breakfast and Lunch is served. Cons: There are never answers to your questions only excuses as to why they don't know the answer. more
