Sunnyside Automotive has serviced our family's cars for the past 4 years. We have consistently received good service at reasonable rates. The reception area isn't fancy, but the employees are friendly and honest. We have recommended their service to several friends. more

Its the only place I will take my car, as well as, my family's cars. Not to mention, I have been able to take anything I own with a motor (motor cycle, boat, and a snowmobile) and they have been able to fix them no problem. They do fantastic work, on time, and do their best to accomidate anyones budget without sacrificing quality service. They never try and push unnecessary repairs on you, they just do the work you need. The staff is a great bunch of fellas and are a pleasure to work with. Id reccomend them to anyone. I have been taking my cars to Sunnyside Auto for almost 10 years now. They have a way of reviving even the most rotten of lemons. My recent cars have been more of the luxury variety, and they service those way below the price of all other companies in the Portland-Metro area. more

I recently needed some car repairs that I thought were going to require extensive work and be quite costly. I had my vehicle towed to Sunnyside Automotive and being that it was late in the day and they are a busy shop, I assumed that it would be the following day before they could even begin assessing my car. Just a few hours later, I received a call from the owner letting me know that my car was fixed and ready to be picked up at my convenience. Turns out that it was a minor, inexpensive repair and my car is up and running again. This is not the first time I have taken my vehicles to Sunnyside Automotive and it definitely will not be the last more

Best car care experience I have ever had. I was having two separate problems with my 2004 Ford mini van. John Cimino got me in right away and was able to diagnose the problems before my lunch break. They were able to fix my van for a few hundred dollars less than the dealer and he had it done by the time I got off work. more

I'd like to recommend this shop, but I can't based on my experience. I think prices are fair, but communication is horrible and quality of work may be spotty. Here goes. I emailed John with a list of things my car needed. He told me $600 for all. Sounded good, so I took it in. They never let me know when my car was done, I had to keep calling. When I was finally told it was done and ready to pick up, I went in to find that they had only done one of the things I had requested. Otherwise, they just did whatever the hell (pardon me) they wanted. Never called to seek any kind of authorization. They surprised me with a bill for $800 itemizing the things that I didn't ask for, and in some cases would NOT have authorized. The total disregard of my repair requests and total presumption to proceed with what they wanted to fix amazes me. And, the work quality did not turn out ideal. They fixed a dash light with the the wrong color, so now my dash displays half in white and half in green. They also didn't get the dash back together right (one part hanging out rather than tucked in). How could they say they care about the quality of their work and not go back to correct those things. And, they replaced the throttle position sensor ($165) just because the car idled a bit too fast when cold. It hasn't been right since. At slow throttle it gets jerky. I can't swear that's the cause, but it never did that before.I would have much rather lived with a fast idle for a few minutes than jerky throttle response everyday in rush hour traffic. To be fair, this happened sometime back. But although a bit more expensive, I'll go to another shop that is great about communicating rather than gamble on Sunnyside ignoring my requests and deciding on their own that they want to do to my car. more

Our family has used Sunnyside automotive for a couple of years now. They have saved us time and time again. The owner is allways willing to take the time to listen and he has never tryied to up sell us on anything. We get what we ask for then some. Now no one is perfect and when I did have a problem he addresed it right away and I never had to ask twice. We refer others there. Give them a try and tell them Brain struckmeier sent you! I'm sorry that the last person to post was disappointed. We had a great experience. John used Napa parts, which I fully trust. He had the job done in a reasonable time frame. He was honest about everything that needed to be done and what he did on the car. I will only go back to him for any and all of my cars and their problems. He saved us money by not replacing things that were not needed. Oh, and the 50"" tv and free access to internet was quite a bonus, while in the waiting room. We love Sunnyside Automotive... Took my 1957 Chevrolet truck in for an exhaust job. They put floor mats in my car to protect it. Jeremie did an awesome job on my exhaust good looking welds and took his time. These guys are going to be famous some day if they keep this up! Pros: Best deal and best work I seen in a long time Cons: None more

This shop was honest with my wife without me even being there. He jeremy helped my wife and showed her the problems and explained the problems to her. She told me she has never had such luck with any other mechanics. Pros: Was honest told me straight Cons: None at this time more

Took the car into John, not knowing what was wrong with my vehicle. He went through and told me everything that was wrong with it and did it efficiently and in a timely manner. The cost was very reasonable and he was honest. I definitely would recommend taking my car to him again. Pros: Honest, Reliable Cons: none that I am aware of. more

it's a good shop for cheap minor repairs. just be aware if u are environmentally conscious, that if go there for AC work they simply vent out the old r12 refrigerant. a retrofit to r134 cost me $125. the charge on mine turned out to be good but the guy did not check it because i told him it's low. it went like a little geyser of winter when he took out the valve. the ultimate culprit was my AC relay wiring job from when i fixed the cooling fan. now i am also responsible for the ozone hole. Pros: cheap - 125$ for r134 retrofit Cons: behind the times more

Brought my truck in for to replace the power steering box. ($500) But when I took my truck home, on the third day I was four miles into driving and the engine started acting up and shaking. Thank god I was near a gas station. I checked the oil and it was 2 1/2 quarts low. My engine burned up. (my oil light was out) Hum, there was no oil leak at my house and I'd changed the oil two months before. So, I believe the 'kid' that worked on my power steering, when draining that fluid accidently drained some of my oil for some reason and didn't replace it. I had towed my truck back there. They said not their fault, It must have drained out on it's own in the three days of sitting at my house. Not possible, I asked them about preforming safely checks like other Auto shops do and they said they NEVER DO THAT. What?? Only if the custom request and pays for it. Sunnyside Automotive has been growing sense It first started. John only had a tool box and a jack and stands when he first started and has grown. And you dont grow like this shop has by riping people of. You do it by taking care of your customers and they do. He has a state of the art facility . His prices are just right and you get good deals and its done right the first time. He employes ASE certified workers. Very few out there offer the services they do.
