Worst

I was not impressed by taste. Steaks are refrigerated to long and tast was bland. Fresh steaks is not here Cons: portion to small, no refills on soda, it's not relaxing

Bad fish 7/29/2011

Got really sick from the Hawaiian Butter fish, Walu. This fish is banned in many countries because it is considered toxic. Has indigestible fats in high quantity. It made me nauseous from about 2pm until I went to bed. So this is considered a junk fish that they charge alot of money for at Sundance. The waiter touted how great it was. I never had it and an hour later wished that was still the case. I looked up the fish on wikipedia and learned it was not good to eat. Called Sandance, and was told the owner would call. He never did. So I have to feel they are buying cheap fish and marking up really high. So won't be going back. more

Sundance The Steakhouse is a PRIME RIB place. 12/23/2009

Sundance was new to 3 of the 4 of us. It was wonderful to find such a great place to have terrific prime rib. We were there for the early bird offerings and boy, were they good and lots of volumne too. Even at 5:30, it was busy and crowded, bar and restaurant too. Lots and Lots of fun people having a great time. The steak had terrific taste and came out just to what you want. The drinks are right on. Now, here was the rub, the wait staff didn't tell us that the room was reserved later that evening for a wedding party, So here we were finishing our dinner and the waiter didn't tell us, what the situation was and offered the dessert menu. Okay, so he knows and we didn't and we go ahead and order a dessert to share. Next thing you know, out comes the dessert and were enjoying it, the bus boys appears and he ask if we are finished. Hey, it's only half eaten, and he is trying to whisk-off the dessert. Well, after several times of this, I asked," Do you need this table?" Hi more

Great food and Service! 11/12/2009

I went here for my birthday 3 years in a row, I loved it so much. I always start off with the calamari, the sauce that goes with it is great. The clam chowder is to-die-for, and the prime rib of course is awesome! more

Sundance The Steakhouse is a excellent place to dine 10/1/2009

This is my favorite restaurant. Every time we have a family birthday etc. everyone wants to go to the Sundance. The food is great and the service is excellent, especially Jeff. I do not feel they are expensive and if you go for the early bird meal it is very reasonable and a sufficient amount of food. \r The Mud Pie for dessert is superb the best I have ever tasted. I have never had a bad meal at Sundance. We go at least once a month or more. This is definitely a must try restaurant. Enjoy!!!! more

It could not have gone any better 4/16/2008

This place was great. My fiancee and I dined at this restaurant this past Saturday night for our engagement dinner. The atmosphere was great with the dim lite booths, great friendly service and delicious food. The prime rib was some of the softest I had ever had, and mud pie was a crowd pleaser. We made reservations and were seated as soon as we arrived. Prompt service. Pros: Atmosphere, service more

Excellent restaurant with a great, unique atmosphere 3/19/2007

Sundance is definitely the place to go if you are in the mood for a great steak dinner in an elegant, clubby atmosphere. Everything from the seating, to menu selections, to our amazing waiter, made the experience a very good and memorable one. Our waiter was extremely knowledgeable, friendly, and attentive. He came by to let us know that one of our items was running a few minutes behind and it everything came shortly after provided us with the update (instead of leaving us to wonder). Also, we had one member of our party that was a vegan, and they made sure that he was well taken care of and had plenty of options amid a sea of carnivorous delights. We splurged and had the appetizer platter (awesome!), a variety of the steaks (all done to perfection), a pasta option for our vegan (he said it was great), and desserts too (all so good, even though we were stuffed). A great experience -- highly recommend! more

Avoid At All Costs, Not Up To Quality Standards 1/7/2007

Went here last night for an anniversary dinner. To start off, the waiter didn't visit for the first 10 minutes, my girlfriend couldn't decide what size filet to order so we said come back in 1 minute... literally 15 minutes later, after servicing every single other table, he finally took our order. I think we were ignored because we didn't order any wine, while the other tables had... Pros: easy to get reservations Cons: bad service, bad food, i see why reservations were easy for a sat night more

One of the good Steakhouse in Bay Area 1/5/2007

Romantic, good food, good customer service....overall experience was excellent. definitely go back again. Pros: everything Cons: none more

Great food, good service, though a missing dish 10/9/2006

Good food, great service, ambiance have class. Pros: food is good Cons: a little too busy and service is average more

Decent but pricy, good ambiance for secluded meetings 10/1/2006

I had inquisitively gone there to try out the place. From the outside, the heavy wood paneling were redolent with promises of delightful and luscious steaks waiting just within. I arrived early for my reservation and was led through a well darkened oak-paneled room by a smartly-dressed and comely hostess. The booth I landed at was sparsely lit by a meager spotlight. The seemingly unupholstered bench seats were overly firm for such a steakhouse. Usually, I prefer to melt into a booth, reluctant to be removed from it. Pros: Ambience, Service more

Steak Is It 8/1/2006

I'd driven by this place thousands of times. I figured it for some kind of upscale Rustlers or Red Robbin. I couldn't have been more wrong. After a hard day laying wire under the crawlspace, I suggested Sundance for a steak - and I couldn't have been happier. Sure, it's a bit snooty, but the wood inside is real, the sports posters of Stanford glory are actual antiques, and the steak is good. Very, very good. And, importantly, they shake a fine Martini. Expect to pay $35 just for the entree, though. Pros: Steak, Martini Cons: Price more

Unbelievable Food 7/18/2006

Yes, the Sundance Mining Company is a very expensive restaurant, but it is a *good* expensive restaurant. The steak I had was succulent, flavorful, and done to perfection. The sides were tasty but not overpowering; the focus of the meal was definitely the steak.\r \r The service was excellent, our waiter was friendly, insightful, and knew his wines. He was very willing to make substitutions on the entrees (his suggestion, not ours!) and returned to our table often to make sure we were full up on water and the like.\r \r This is not a family restaurant, this is a classy establishment, and while very expensive, worth every dime. PROS: Exquisite beef dishes, fine wine selection, great staff. CONS: Expensive, gets very full/busy. more

Well-Rounded Dining Experience..... 6/22/2006

A friend and I were craving a delicious steak dinner. Me, being the 'internet savvy' one, decided to do some research. After reviewing the online menu at SUNDANCE, we decided to head over and try it out. The location was easy to find which was a definite PLUS. On entry, we were both pleased with the ambiance.. Dim enough to set the mood and to provide privacy, light enough to view the menu and see one another. We started off with the shrimp cocktail. It was heavenly! Plump, sweet... We decided to order a bottle of wine. Sundace has an extensive wine list which is sure to please every palate. For our entree, I went with the petite cut and my friend decided on the steak and lobster. The dishes were moderately priced and the food was abundant! For desert, we went with the mud pie. It was to DIE for! Overall, I had to give SUNDANCE a 10. Food, service, atmosphere.. the whole package! We're going back there TONIGHT!!! Pros: The food was delicious, service was fantastic... easy to find location Cons: The wine is expensive more

When You Really Want Beef 5/3/2006

Sundance is the place to go when you are looking to have a nice piece of beef in a "club atmopsphere" and in this particular restaurant with a Stanford Theme. I have been here many times and find every item to be good but not excellent. The service has always been great and I find it a good place to have a conversation as the tables are somewhat private. Nice place to take mom and dad when they come from out-of -town. PROS: great atmosphere CONS: pricey more

Steak & Seafood Heaven 1/11/2006

Great place for steaks and seafood. We had a juicy and tender New York and Lobster Tail combo that was to die for. Served with a jumbo baked potato and seasoned vegetables. So much food for the money. The artichoke appetizer and the oysters were very good too. Our waiter was professional and attentive. This is simply a must for Silicon Valley Dining. Great Wine List as well. Pros: Steak, Atmosphere, Wine List Cons: Parking Lot is Small more

cold food and slow service 1/3/2006

I was there a while back and my steak, which is supposedly their specialty, was served cold. I sent it back and 15 minutes later it came back cold again. That's totally unacceptable. I think they try to serve you slowly so that you order more drinks. It's way over-priced and over-rated. They took the price of the steak off our bill, but that experience turned me off from Sundance for good. Cons: cold food, slow service, expensive more

Good food, but not worth the price 6/21/2005

I've only had the Prime Rib here, but I've had it three times now and had the same reaction each time: The food is certainly delicious, but it isn't worth the $35+ that it costs. The price is similar as you'd find at somewhere like Lawry's but the prime rib at Sundance doesn't quite meet what you can find elsewhere. more

Good, but WAY Overpriced 12/28/2004

Good food, but I could do as well at home... This is an institution, but I just don't get why. The food is good, drinks are great, but you pay through the nose. You can get as good, if not better food at a better price just about anywhere in the valley. We had reservations and still had to wait 30 minutes, and were then treated like kids playing dress up by our server. Being sili-boomers, we regularly frequent $$$$ restaurants and smile when we pay the check. We normally leave 20% or more. We left our server 12% because it was that bad. Pros: good food, great drinks, great wine list Cons: , a little loud, service not all that more
