Sun Devil Auto 5/1/2010

I took my truck in for repairs, it needed a time belt. That was fine, but I wish now that I had not asked them to check the oil leak, because they charged me quite a bit and told me that the oil leak was fixed. Not true, it as still leaking. I took it back to them and they told me, it would take another $1200-1500 to repair. I told them that they did not repair it in the first place. I took it for a second opinion to another mechanic and I was told that they charged me for work that was not done. I took it back to Sun Devil and they denied it. Please do not go there, they are not honest, they will take your money. Pros: close by Cons: Dishonest manager and mechanics more

Sun Devil Auto is not honest 10/6/2009

Took my civic in to the Van Buren location for an oil change and inspection. He quoted me 1800 in repairs including a cracked radiator, replacing every piece of rubber on the car, and both axles. The car was running great when I got this quote. The fluid he showed me on the radiator was just overflow from the tech refilling the radiator. No crack anywhere. The worst part was when he showed me the damage to my CV boot and poked his finger through the small hole making it bigger. When he showed me the other side he pushed and prodded it trying to reveal damage. He actually made the problem worse on both axles in order to convince me to commit to service. He lied about the radiator leak. Just a skeezy scam. Avoid them at all costs. Pros: Many locations Cons: Selling unneeded repairs more

Sun Devil. Avoid at all cost! 9/13/2008

I made the mistake of taking my truck into Sun Devil to have an oil leak on the oil pan fixed. They told me that I needed to replace the High pressure oil pump. I agreed to the tune of $1800 plus. When I picked the truck up the ""mechanic"" told me if I continued to have low fuel mileage and no power to bring it back. It would need to have the gate on the turbo replaced. I informed him that I had brought the truck in for an oil leak not low mileage or no power. The truck was pretty gutless on the way home, so I checked under the hood. The lid was not on the air box, it was next to it. \r \r Less then a week later my turn signals went nuts. When I had them fixed (by someone else) I was informed that the wires had been pulled loose in the steering column. No one has been in my steering column before.\r \r I had to replace my battery cables because ""someone"" had used a very large screw driver to pry a large section of the wiring inside the cable free right next to the battery terminal. The insulation had been partially pulled free before the truck went to Sun Devil.\r \r And the oil leak on the oil pan? All they had done was wipe off the oil pan. Turns out the high pressure oil pump is on the front of the engine. They claim the engine was awash with oil. Engine has never been cleaned and yet there is only a fine film of oil on the opposite end. The valley of the engine is perfectly clean. I was charged $1200 plus for the hpop. They claim they never mark up parts. My price at the dealer - $600. I was charged $184 for gaskets and o rings. The gasket o ring kit costs $29. I was charged for miscellanous parts. $100 plus. There are no miscellanous parts on a hpop. The tech manual says if there is an oil leak replace the o rings ($29). The same manual gives an entire list of problems and codes for the pump. None of which applied to the truck. They can't produce an invoice or dianogstics codes. \r \r And to fix the oil leak? A nut was tighted! Pros: I can't think of any Cons: Invent what they can't find more

Horrible Job!!! 7/8/2008

I took my car into the Ray and I - 10 location because it was starting to overheat. I figured it was a bad radiator. It was a leaky radiator and I had them replace it. It ended up costing $550. Exactly one week later my car started to overheat again. Even more so then when I first had to take it in. So I bring it in and they tell me that I blew a head gasket in my engine! But they couldn't tell me why! Obviously it was because my car overheated, but it seemed a mystery to them why it even overheated in the first place! They said it was gonna cost at least $1300 to fix. They either didn't install my radiator correctly or completely missed some other aspect of my overheating problem. Either way -- HORRIBLE JOB!!! So now I don't even have a car to drive. And so the $500 I put in for a new radiator just went down the drain, because these guys didn't do what they were paid to do, and fix my overheating problem. The guy ""generously"" offered to take apart my engine if I wanted to do that. As if I would ever trust these guys with anything in my car. STAY AWAY!!! I cannot stress that enough. I wish someone had let me know about how SHADY these guys are and how INCOMPETENT they seem to be. Don't even bring in a flat tire for these guys to fix because you'll be back a week later needing to replace an axle! STAY AWAY!!!! 07-07-08 Pros: Customer service guy was ok Cons: Everything else that cost money! more

Nice guys. Bad work. 8/11/2006

I went to the Sun Devil Auto near ASU West last year and had a wheel hub and bearings replaced for $500. Here I am, barely a year later getting the same bearing and hub replaced (now to the tune of $700 because of the damage it caused to the axel). I'm no longer in PHX, so I can't take it back to them. These things are supposed to last 100,000 miles, not 10,000. Shady. Shaaaaady. Pros: Very polite. Fast. Cons: Does bad work! more
