Sun City Stables

We had called ahead a couple of days and made a reservation but yet when we got there, which was 10 minutes before our scheduled time obviously because we knew we had to fill out paperwork we still had to wait. We didn't start riding until an hour after our scheduled time. Then we had told them that my mom had a bad back and wanted a horse that was pretty calm and wouldn't do to much damage so they suggested a certain horse for her. We paid for the guide for an hour but I timed it and she only guided us for 30 minutes before she left us on our own. But once we were on our own the horses did not want to listen to us at all and instead brought us back to camp. Once the horse that my mom was on sees the camp it starts racing off not listening to my moms commands, we're also not newbies at riding we've been riding for years. It was very terrifying to see my mom go flying and even from a distance away I can hear my mom yelling out for help and went flying by some guy doing some yard work and he didn't even flinch and try to save her. My mom ended up flying off the horse and it took a while for someone to come out get to her and they did very little to make sure she was okay. And then to be told by the guide that that same horse has taken off like that before with her left me baffled. We had paid for 2 hours and even after my mom had fallen off the horse they refused to at least give us a refund for the hour she literally couldn't ride. I understand there's no refunds but seriously. I decided to try to go out and ride myself with a different horse because my first horse wasn't listening that well either. But even the second horse didn't want to listen and started bucking so I said .. it and let him take me back to camp where they gave me a third horse but once we passed the first gate the horse literally wouldn't move for a solid 10 minutes and was forced to turn him around and head back to the camp, on the way back I passed a guide walking a different group who told me that that horse hates going past the gate. I still had another hour left but after what happened with my mom and the horses not listening I decided to go home and had to bring my mom to urgent care. I should have read the reviews before driving 40 minutes to this place. They clearly don't know their horses all that well considering the horses they decided would be best to pair us with. more

The wife and I were quite pleased with the well behaved gaited horses we rode! She rode Smarty Pants, and I was on Clyde. The staff was pleasant, and safety was stressed with all riders. We’re both experienced riders, but even the novice riders can rest assured, they’re in good hands, and on great horses! Great times to be had here! The petting zoo is much larger than we thought it would be. We absolutely loved this experience! more

the owner is prejudiced with immigrants. He treated my family very badly. he did not want to answer us and said that if we learned the language we would have fewer problems. I've never been so mistreated here in the USA more

Just purchased the buy 2 hours get 1 free special for 4 people at Sun City Stables. Most disappointing money I have ever spent. The horses are terribly over worked, stressed, and so trail broken they do whatever they want. The staff lie about the temperament of the horses instead of making sure your horse is a good fit for you. We had to switch horses before we even hit the trail because Willow tried to take off running repeatedly with our 6 year old and her dad in the saddle. They switched Willow out for Diamond and we finally made it to the trail. After 30 minutes of shuffling through muddy trails that some places were knee deep on the horses, Diamond decided it was time to go home and led our horses back to the stable. No amount of reigning or redirection could keep us on the trail. While trying to voice my concerns upon return one of the male staff became VERY verbally aggressive to me. To the point that I actually felt threatened. Basically my family just paid $240 for a 30 minute walk in the swamp and to get yelled at by stable hand who didn’t want to hear about our dissatisfaction. TAKE A RIDE SOMEWHERE ELSE!! It will be worth EVERY extra dollar it costs you!! Renters at Sun City Stables are unknowingly supporting horse abuse and scam artists. more

We booked a ride for three people, wanted on the appointed day and time and were told they were closed. Five other people showed up with us and were also turned away. The owner (or whoever answers the phone) didn’t have a clue- he had really given us the hard sell on booking a two hour ride a couple of days before. The person who refused us said they didn’t even have any saddles. I suspect that The problem was that one person in our group is black- the guy there seemed pretty rednecked to me. Horrible business- don’t patronize! more

Sun City Stables was amazing! I made an appointment and rode the same day! It was really beautiful with lots of trails. We had the option of getting a guide, super helpful. I was able to run a smooth gated horse, the best in the world as they say! All the horses were so well trained, sweet, and great with kids. After having a blast out on the trails we came back for the petting zoo! The kids couldnt believe that there was a real live ostrich! They had so many other animals. I was impressed on how well everything was taken care of, especially the fat pig! After shopping around the Tampa Bay area, this was by far the best choice! Everything from very professional/friendly staff to the beautiful scenery and fantastic animals. We had such an enjoyable time. I highly recommend you pack up the family and head on over. You wont be disappointed! more

MY FAMILY AND I RECENTLY WENT OUT TO RIDE FOR THE DAY. WE HAD AN EXCEPTIONAL TIME AND WERE HELPED GET OUR HORSES SWIFTLY AFTER ARRIVING. TRAILS HAVE A NICE AREA TO TROT. KIDS LOVED THE PETTING ZOO AFTERWARDS AS MY HUSBAND AND I ENJOYED THE SHADED PICNIC AREA. more

Very uncaring and unprofessional staff. Had to wait an hour and a half after they took our money for a two hour ride, even to begin the ride! They wouldn't refund second hour, which we didn't have time to do, even though it was their fault it took so long to get started. This place is a scam and somebody should shut them down. How long will they continue to rip people off??? more
