Editorial review from Citysearch 5/6/2013

I have been using Summit Medical for approximately 10 years. Overall I would say the quality of the medical care is good. The ENT department is completely negligent and non responsive to the patient's needs. I would have tot agree with the person below and avoid the ENT department at all costs!!!!! more

the illusion of good healthcare 4/24/2012

Avoid this place at all costs. The place looks beautiful but you quickly can see whats really going on. first instead of a greeting we arrived to a receptionist playing w her ipod. all the staff we encountered were short w us, not flexible at all and outright rude. we waited over an hour to see the doc, and from what i gather from the other patients also waiting this was not uncommon. we got to see a doctor for all of five minutes. then while leaving we had witnessed a minor medical issue w another patient . to us it was obvious that the staff did not have the skills (nor aparantly all the neccessary equipment judging from their shouts) to handle the situation. this was enough for my family to never go back. this is americas healthcare at its worst. maximum amount of patients equals maximum paycheck. go somewhere else if you want a doctor to spend time with you and friendly knowledgeable staff. more

Billing mess, avoid this place 3/10/2012

Avoid this place, it's a factory that doesn't care about you, but only about your money. Doctors are OK, when you are lucky enough to get to them and when they are not so overbooked that they can actually give you more than 30 seconds of their attention. However, the organisation is horrible and the billing department is from the hell. I got a bill on which half of my co-pays were not properly credited, so the bill had about $70 of balance which was bogus. The person I spoke to in the billing department didn't care to help at all. She promised to review my account and call me back and never did. When I followed up, she was only coming up with excuses that she ""didn't have a chance to look at my account"". Looks like she is hoping that I will just give up trying and pay for the bogus balance. more

Great Care from SMG 6/20/2011

I have had a fabulous experience with the Summit Medical Group. As a cancer survivor, I have fairly complicated issues that must be handled by a variety of departments. I never have to worry about referrals for specialists as they take care of that behind the scenes. When my insurance company refused to pay for a medical test that the doctors said that I needed, my oncologist not only wrote the company to appeal their decision, he called the medical director at the insurance company to find out what the issue was and to fight for me. He did all this before I even knew that the insurance company had denied the test. They have assigned me a ""Breast Health Navigator"" who checks on me after I have tests and makes sure that I understand what is going on and that I am handling the stress well. Once, when I got a call late on a Friday afternoon to call the office for some test results, the calls were being referred to the switchboard because the office was closed. When I explained the situation, the switchboard got me through to the office so I wouldn't have to wait the weekend wondering what the results were (given they were positive, it was very helpful). I really couldn't ask for better care. I am also a fan of the pediatric group who has taken great care of my daughter. Cannot imagine taking her anywhere else. more

Breaks Agreement with Insurers 5/11/2011

As a member of Oxford insurance Summit is bound to charge only the rates agreed to in their contract with Oxford, but they break this agreement and charge patients more. My wife will not go back. I understand they can be reported and forced to comply, but she doesn't want to go through the trouble. more

Go there is you have extra money 3/1/2011

My experience with the Doctors had been good. But, their billing department is horrible. They make mistake and you pay for that. They don't send you statements, for more than a year, but you will be put in collection agency. So unless money is not an issue, I wouldn't recommend this place, even to my worst enemy. more

Good place to start and hold your records 2/3/2010

We've had a good experience going to SMG, mostly their Neurology Dept. When they realized it was out of their hands, they referred outside and sent records without any problems, and have kept track of the records of all the different places. If we need an X-ray or MRI from another doctor, we get it done at SMG because they give us the CD and report without any problems. While they do charge $10 to fill out a form, they are good about mailing positive test results to you, and very good about making sure insurance will pay for services. Pros: Easy to make appointments, efficient, records very accessibl Cons: Doctors are average - for harder problems, need a Univ more

Awful 12/3/2009

It's a factory Pros: efficient and easy Cons: a factory, all about making money more

It used to be good - going down the drain quick 10/11/2009

The Group strongly depends upon electronic medical records., but has no alerts in the system for medication allergies, can't correct the meds. you do take list. Pros: nicely landscaped grounds Cons: Cliquish, arrogant, unwilling to work with outside doctors, more

Will not return to Summit Medical Group or Dr. Eibschutz 9/15/2009

Took my 2 girls for annual physicals. Upon completion of physical, asked nurse for a copy of each child's 1 page well being exam (weight, height, vision, etc. recorded). My request was refused; she stated that I had to request a copy of these 2 pages through medical records and pay for them! Moreover, when Dr. Eibschutz examined my daughters, I asked her to sign and date my daughter's one-page form for preschool. Again, Dr. Eibschutz refused my request stating that I need to pay an additional $10 for her to do this, and that I needed to ""respect Summit Medical Group policy."" I felt disrespected as a mother and devalued as a patient and client. I paid $40 copay, my insurance company, United Health Care, was charged hundreds of dollars for this visit, and I was neither given my children's medical records (2 pages) or had my form competed (1 page). This is the height of outrageousness. Summit Medical Group is clearly all about the American dollar and not about patient care or common kindness. I will not return to this doctor or this clinic. Cons: Lacking in common human kindness, respect for patients more

Avoid these crooks 6/23/2008

i figured a medical group like summit would be ideal since they have all the doctors you'd need to handle any medical situation. so i need nose surgery and to understand the cost i call summit medical group who gives me all the possible procedure codes so i can call my insurance company and find out the worst case cost. well they missed half the codes and neglected some other ""services"" and the bill comes to 2.5x what the worst case cost was. my follow up surgery costs were even worse. every time they put the instrument in my nose with the light on the end to see up there it was $750. ridiculous. when i called them to say they either lied to me or left out critical information on the cost of my procedures they said nothing we can do about it. this group epitomizes the problems with skyrocketing health care costs. go somewhere else you're just a $ provider here. Cons: fradulent information more

Highly recommended . . . 7/25/2007

Dr. Marla Abramson is a great physician and diagnostician. She is also warm, caring and attentive to her patients and makes herself available when needed. I can recommend her wholeheartedly and without hesitation. Pros: Dr. Abramson is a stellar physician . . . more
