Mark and his team @ The Sugar Shack have catered two events for us over the past two years. He provides a unique twist to everyday bbq favorites. \r ""The Shack"" served 100 guests. In early August, Mark and his crew came over to our house and provided wonderful pulled pork sandwiches and turkey sandwiches with the perfect accompaniments for each type of sandwich, the tastiest baked beans ever and indescribable twice baked cheesy potatoes. Sort of like gourmet comfort food. I am not sure of the all the ingrediients used, but the flavor combination of the pulled pork and the strawberry habenaro suace was perfection. There really is no local restaurant to compare it to, because one doesn't exist in Austin (I haven't made it to Lambert's yet, but plan to soon--that might be the closest comparison). This was a casual business gathering with guests from all over the world along with some locals--everyone loved the food. Mark and his team were very professional and friendly, they were on time and did a fantastic job from set-up to clean-up. In large part, the party was a success because of them. We recently had the Sugar Shack BBQ cater my Grandmother's 75th birthday party of about 80 or so people. The BBQ was awesome...all the guests ranted and raved! They make these yummy sweet baked beans with fried onions. The twice cooked mashed potatoes with the melted cheese on top had just the right amount of spice. Of course the MEAT! Mark, the owner and pit master...has a little Tennessee flavor in his meats. They had this pulled pork sandwich topped with BBQ sauce and homemade cole slaw - it melts in your mouth. The slaw has this tangy, but not too tangy - just right tangy taste! The ribs have this addictive strawberry habanera glazed - just enough to get your fingers sticky. All in all, it was a great, smooth experience with them. They were priced just right, arrived on time & kept our bellies full! more
