Recycling is not important to these guys. 10/15/2011

I have tried 4 or 5 times to recycle my recyclables. I recycle the correct items on the correct days. They only picked it up the first time. After several calls and no pick ups on the other times I have given up. I want to be eco-friendly, but it's hard to when your supposed recycling company won't pick up the stuff. I have 3 small kids and don't have the time or resources to personally drive the recyclables to the recycle center. Suburban Disposal has to fire the lazy guys and hire better ones. more

Might As Well Head To The Dump Yourself 8/2/2011

If you try this service for the first time, don't sign up for bank draft option. I was overcharged, and it took so long to get the extra payment they took refunded, and once they have your money, they keep it, even if you call unsatisfied with a serious complaint or occurrence, they won't do refunds. It took them nearly 3 months to get my trash can out to me, and I was still charged, they are late, but when you call it's everyone's problem but theirs, they leave your trashcan in the road sometimes, when a car hits it, you have a busted mess. It has the ability to be a decent company since every route has different workers, just beware and give it a few months to see if you are satisfied. more

I just really want my trash to be picked up. 6/30/2011

Holy cow. I have been with this company for 2 weeks. Last week, Suburban emptied everyone else's big trash can, but left mine full. I called the company at noon, and they indeed came back to empty it. This week, they missed my lawn trash and my bulk trash. I called at noon, and the lady said that they would come back out. At 4:30, everything was still where I left it, so I called again. This lady left a message for dispatch. Does this mean that I get to pay for trash service AND drive 11 miles to the local dump? Oh goody! more

Many Problems 1/13/2011

I spent about an hour wiring up all the problems that have occurred over the last 12 years with Suburban, but when I tried to post the write up on "City Search" it stated that I was limited to 2,000 characters. I checked on MS Word and my write up has 4050 characters. I then tried to do multiple posts, but to no avail. Oh well. more

VERY HAPPY with Suburban Service 1/4/2011

I was shocked to read all the negative reviews. Maybe I am the exception, but we have had nothing but great service from Suburban. Our can was delivered the week after we moved in, our trash is always picked up on the scheduled day and we've also not had any problems with recycle pick-up (they've maybe missed 2 recycle pick-ups in the past 1.5 years). Overall, I don't have anything bad to say. more

frustrating 6/3/2010

My big pile of yard trash has been sitting by the road for ten days, having missed two scheduled pickups. No one is answering the phone at Suburban office. Pros: polite and helpful driver and workers Cons: company skips pickup days more

I wouldn't even give them 1 star to be honest. I have been with suburban disposal with almost a year now. I only have them because the people we rent our house from used them; it was just easier. It seems as though every time I get a bill (and pay it) I get another bill and until they get it right at their end our trash just sits there. The rates seemed pretty reasonable but the charges kept getting higher and higher. It's just my husband and I and trust me we don't fill up that very large container. I have found a competitor that recently started servicing our area and the rates are much better. I called to cancle my account today and they don't even care why I was closing it. Very Friendly Helpful Driver 1/4/2009

Very Friendly and Helpful Driver ! I love the lady that drives the truck for my area. I was very confused about the recycling schedule and she answered my questions with a smile on several ocassions! She seems tickled to see me running with my bins on the mornings I'm late setting them out ! I've read the other reviews that complain about the customer service, however, I have no complaints. The people who physically collect the trash work hard and do an o.k. job except for tossing the can in the ditch sometimes rather than setting it upright on the driveway. The worst thing is their billing department. Payments have been "lost" three times in the past couple years and it's always a hassle providing them the proof they need that the bill WAS paid. They then restore service, only to have it stopped after a week or two because some computer did not recognize that service was restored and the bill was paid so the proof of payment has to start all over again. Big companies REALLY have trouble in this area and this company is no exeption. The local office can't keep things straight with whatever the corporate computers and billing people are doing and of course the loser is the homeowner. Pathetic service, unsanitary practices 9/25/2008

My experience is like the other writers, I have paid and did not get a can. The lady told me to put my bags out until one was delivered and of course the truck wouldn't take them. When I moved into the house I had no idea that payment was expected. They picked it up for free until I called to get a big item picked up. They took the can without the courtesy of any communication. My bigger gripe however is that they leave the tops open after pickup. This is a most unsanitary practice giving rise to maggots, mosquitoe and vermin. The company told me if they closed the tops the customer would not be able to tell whether the trash was picked up or not. But guess what folks, every time you dump the can over to get rid of the rainwater you are subject to fine for discharging untreated sewage as runoff. I have called all the appropriate authorities who have in turn contacted Suburban and the company even refuses to comply with their requests. Our neighborhood is right on a salt water sound and every time it rains on collection day, hundreds of gallons of this yuck flows right into the water. Thanks for nothing Suburban!!! more

poor service...high fee 6/13/2008

There have been several times that Suburban has left my trash and times when they left some trash in the bins.I have used there service for three years and every three month the bill increases. it started out at 36 dollars and now its at 57.. I just cancelled my service... To save money... split the cost with your neighbor!!!! Pros: none more

This company does not want your business 4/2/2008

I have been a customer for 5 1/2 years. Today they did not pick up our trash. I called to inquire, they said our check bounced. My bank does not show a bounced check. I called Surburban, asked them if there was a problem, why didn't they call instead of just leaving my trash on my driveway. They stated that was their policy, not to notify customers of payment problems, but to stop service instead. It would take several weeks to track why our payment did not go through. Told them we be changing companies, they did not care! I find out that thier competitor is much cheaper anyway! Do not even bother calling this company. Cons: They do not care. more

not as bad as they sound 1/4/2008

I can't believe the reveiws I've read about suburban on this sight, so I had to put in a reveiw myself, I will admitt that on occasion my recycles do get missed but with just a call they are picked up and sometimes it is hard to get through but customer service is alway's helpful and polite. I am especially glad to know I can go in and make a payment if needed, sometimes I have to wait a week to pay my bill. They have been around a while and I feel they're trust worthy. These sites I feel are for bashing only and not fair. more

WOREST COMPANY I HAVE EVER DELT WITH 7/18/2007

WE JUST MOVED HERE, PAYMENT CLEARED MY ACCOUNT AT THE END OF JUNE, IT IS JULY 18,STILL NO BIN, I CALL I DO GET TO SPEAK TO SOMEONE, TELL ME THAT IT WILL BE DELIVERIED A CETAIN DAY AND THAT DAY COMES AND GOES. I AM IN CUSTOMER SERVICE MYSELF, THEY ARE NOT REALLY TOO RUDE BUT MAKES PROMISES THEY DONT KEEP. NOT SURE HOW THEY ARE STAYING IN BUSINESS LIKE THIS. IF I DONT GET SATISFACTION SOON, I WILL DEMAND MY MONEY BACK, SHOULD HAVE CHECK THEIR RATINGS BEFORE I ORDERED THIS BIN. Worst of the Worst 7/10/2007

Suburban Disposable is the one of the most amazing companies I have dealt with. It takes you over 4 weeks to get a trash can. Then when you put out moving recycles on the day you are instructed to: Geez you come home and quess what all the items are sitting just where you placed them. Trash day is tuesdays. Geez, the trash remains on the curb not collected. When you call you get more of the same run around. Who allows these people to have a business liscence. This is not a business but a joke. Recycle Service a Pain 6/16/2007

I have now for three weeks "tried" to recycle. I feel my efforts futile because Suburban has yet to come pick them up when they are supposed to. I have had to call every week to get a "work order" put in to come to my house to pick up my recycles days later. This is what my tax dollars are paying for in this county!! Regular trash pick up is fine - but they need to do their complete job which includes picking up what I take the time to collect and recycle! more

Worst customer service I ever delt with. 9/22/2006

This company has the worst customer service I ever delt with. When you can reach them on the phone they are rude and never very helpful or they put you on hold and leave you there till it is after hours. It took me over 1month to get a new can last summer( this also happened to 2 others that I know when they broke it). I they don't pick up the recycle 1/2 the time. I finally got smart and cancealed my service and I am still waiting for them to pick up their can even though I call and remind them daily. Pros: none Cons: unreliable service more

Worst Customer Service 9/4/2006

They have horrible customer service-busy signal, interminable waits on hold, or no answer. When they pick up the trash, they often leave trash lying in the road from falling out of the can or falling out of their trucks. If there's a weather emergency on your pick-up day, that's jsut too bad-you can either chance leaving your cans out and picking your trash up out of the street when a storm comes through or go without serive until the following week.
