I have had horrible experiences with this place. For starters, if you ever ask them for a price estimate on ANYTHING be sure you get it in writing because when the time comes to buy something suddenly it's twice the price they quoted you - and when you say 'no the first price you told me was ---' they respond with 'do you have that in writing?'. At first they seem so pleasant and helpful, but then you see their true colors. They only want your money!! When I put a deposit check down for my dress, I asked them to wait to cash it until I saw a sketch of what the dress was going to look like (as we were making customizations to it from the designer). They agreed to this and called me consistently giving me updates etc, but then they cashed the check (BEFORE I SAW A SKETCH OF THE DRESS) and I never received call backs from them - they ignored me and my mother etc. It took them over a month after they cashed my check to order the dress. When the dress came in we got measured for alterations there, which ended up being way more expensive than what they told me originally - especially considering the dress fit perfectly. I asked them to let me think about it and I'll tell them in a couple days whether I wanted them to go through with the alterations or not - all of a sudden I turn around and find the seamstress taking out the pins to mark the alterations to make. I asked, ""What are you doing?"" and she responded with ""You are taking the dress home."" So we did and I will NEVER go back there - I WOULD NOT RECOMMEND THIS PLACE more

Awesome Customer Service 4/3/2011

I've been to few stores with customer service as great as this one. Everyone was so helpful and nice, plus, they gave honest opinions. My prom was one month away and I found a gorgeous dress at a great price that had a serious ""wow"" factor to it. Even this late in the season they had an awesome selection in all different styles and colors. The girls there are supportive and helpful and make a stressful task MUCH less stressful. They can handle any customer and make anyone happy with their purchase. Even through mom fights, indecisiveness, or any dress-drama, the customer service is A+ !! more

I'm sorry but this place is terrible. no actuallly im not sorry this place sucks. i went there for a prom dress a few weeks ago and had a very unpleasant experience. the selection was limited and the dressing room lines got absurd. none of the dresses are bagged so everyone puts their oily hands all over them and yanks them around so the beading on one gets snagged on another. the staff is also very pesky, they dont know when to leave you alone! i couldnt get five seconds of peace by myself in the dressing room to fix myself in the dress because they kept rushing me to come out so they could have a look. like 20 times more anxious than my own mother. they did this everytime i put a new dress on, like seriously these chicks need to chill. im sorry but when i dont look good in something i dont want to walkout into the middle of a store so some overpushy lady can fuss at me. they just are too pushy mainly because they are uber desperate to make a sale as sooon as possible. especially cuz your in their 1 of 3 dressing rooms taking up their time. they are overinvolved in the picking process pressuring me to consider buying a 400 dollar gown i was not in love with. Bottom line, these people need to learn to stop controlling everything and give their customers the comfort and privacy they deserve when making such a large purchase. not only that but when you buy a gown you have to sign not only the receipt but some contract. A much better choice would be dynamic designs in wallingford. thats only 25 minutes away from stylish impressions. more

Wonderul Experience 1/24/2011

I just purchased my wedding dress at Stylish Impressions this past Sunday. I couldn't have asked for a better experience. I called same day and they were able to squeeze me in to an already busy day. I went there after having a bad experience at another bridal store earlier in the day. I had been to 4+ other stores and were starting to lose hope that I would find the perfect dress. When I first walked in I was greated and brought upstairs to find four full racks of gowns, from multiple designers. They had a tremendous selection of satin, tafetta, a-line, mermaid, ballgown.. you name it they had it. My consultant was amazing let me pull as many dresses as I wanted and did not rush me at all. She listened to what I liked and didn't like and pulled amazing gowns for me too. It was down to two gowns and in the end I made my decision and purchased my dress, they measured me, I paid and that was it! They also give you a discount on bridesmaids dresses, tuxes and your veil which they also have a good selection of. I highly recommend this store the owner was polite and helpful making sure all of the brides were happy and being treated like they were the only ones there!! Love them!! more

Wonderful Experience 1/11/2011

My sister bought two of her prom dresses at this store and loved both of them. When we approached their table at the Aquaturf's bridal fun show, they were friendly, knowledgeable, and had a beautiful display. I made an appointment and was so happy I did. I found my dream dress, was treated like I was the most important customer in the store, and they were extremely patient with me. They asked what my budget was and kept to my budget. The accommodated my mother, my sister, my aunt, and my grandmother and when I went back the day after to try on my top three again, they remembered my top three and even suggested the order in which to try them on to help me make my choice. They helped me with everything and offered assistance with re-combing my mother's veil. I would recommend this place to everyone, they are friendly, love what they do, and know what they are doing! more

wonderful experience 3/23/2009

I am so confused reading through these reviews online-Is there a new owner for this store??? The owner helped me with my dress selection for my wedding. She was wonderful. She let me be independent and allowed me to browse through her selections. I tried on a couple of styles that were not me, but at least I could see if they fit my body type or not. I never felt more comfortable. She was not pushing her product, but rather gathered my info and allowed me to think about my purchase. I went to other stores and, boy, I wasn't even allowed to search through their stock! They asked me what I was looking for and then selected gowns for me from the back of the store! The prices might be a little higher than other bridal salons, but I think it is worth it. \r And ladies, if you do decide to purchase your gown at this location, they let you open the dress yourself, inspect it for any faults and make sure it meets your approval! Pros: Friendly owner, beautiful gowns, great hours Cons: Small space, help could be friendlier more

Great experiences! 5/27/2008

We bought 5 prom dresses from Stylish Impressions with great experiences each time. When it came time to buy my daughters wedding dress, this was our first and only choice of a place to go. They brought out lots of dresses for her to try, and were very patient. We ended up with something different than what she thought she wanted, and it was beautiful! They suggested a perfect dress for the maid of honor, and accessories to match. We ordered everything, and it all went extremely smoothly. \r I ordered my dress there also and was told that it would be 4 months and would be in on April 25th. It came in on the 26th! Yvette does fantastic alterations, and very quickly. Everything went smoothly with my dress and I was glad that they had ordered it a bit big, as there was one spot that was a bit snug and had to be let out. \r It's hard to read some of these reviews and apply them to our experiences with Diane and Stylish Impressions! We bought 5 prom dresses there, a maid of honor dress, MOB dress and the wedding dress there and and it was so smooth, easy and fun that I can't imagine going anywhere else. We've been there through all the remodeling and each time thought it was a wonderful experience. Thank you Diane, Yvette and staff for being there for many years! Pros: Personal attention, reasonable prices, stafff that really knows their inventory. Cons: Formal wear takes a long time to come in on an order, so go as soon as you can! more

DO NOT WASTE YOUR TIME GOING TO THIS PLACE. EVERYTHING THERE IS HIDEOUS, UNORGANIZED AND TRASHY. THE OWNER IS SNOOTY AND RUDE AND WILL NICKEL AND DIME ALL OF HER CUSTOMERS. BEWARE. THEY WILL PRESSURE YOU TO BUY DRESSES THAT ARE EXPENSIVE, EVEN IF YOU DONT LIKE THEM, AND TRY RETURNING THEM! YOU GET STUCK WITH A BIG FAT STORE CREDIT. MY ADVICE IF THIS HAPPENS TO YOU; BUY IT BACK AND SELL IT ON EBAY. DONT LET THEM SCREW YOU OVER. more

BRIDES BEWARE! 2/26/2008

BRIDES BEWARE!!\r I ordered 7 Jim Hjelm bridesmaid dresses from this store, each over $250. When the dresses came in the zippers were all stuck, not any fault of Stylish Impressions. I asked that the zippers be replaced, no charge, and they did. I should have known it was too easy. The day of my wedding as the girls were getting dressed, my sister, one of my MOHs zipper fell apart. I looked at the zipper and saw that it was hacked together, messy stitching falling apart. As I sat on the bed in my wedding dress sewing my sisters dress back together I thought of all of the aweful things I wanted to say to this store owner.....just what a bride wants to think about on her wedding day. My bustle on my dress broke after 1 dance and the bottom got all ripped up from walking on it all night. I spent well over $1500 at this shop and didn't get one apology after sending a letter of disgust. They also ordered my girls dresses too big, and then charged them $40-$60 each to alter them, which they did a lousy job. Recently I was going to wear one of the dresses to a wedding, it was pink and summery so I thought why not....I zipped up the dress, fit me perfect, and then tried to take it off. The zipper would not budge! I ended up cutting this $270 bridesmaid dress off me! BRIDES BEWARE!!!!! Cons: NASTY OWNER! more

Awful, I would never do business there EVER AGAIN! Even if they gave me free dresses! 2/26/2008

My mother purchased her dress for my wedding there. She also purchased her shoes and a purse there. The purse was marked with a price and once taken to the register the purse was all of a sudden more money. The owner explained the purse was marked wrong. Liar!! Does she know that in the state of CT it is illegal to do that? The problem with her shoes was her dress was hemmed to be worn with these shoes and the owner of Stylish Impressions decided to wait 1 week before my wedding the day of my mothers final fitting to tell us the shoes were ""discontinued"" We were furious! I could not believe that they cut the dress knowing the shoes would not be available for her to wear. The owner made no apology and took no responsibility. She wouldn't even get on the phone with me, instead had a sales associate speak on her behalf. Her idea of rectifying the situation was offering my mother the sample pair that everyone and their mother had tried on. They were very obviously worn looking and a size too small!!! She wanted my mother to walk around the house with thick socks on to stretch them out, did I mention they were SANDALS! She was also charging us full price for the floor sample shoes. I searched high and low for the shoes, had them rush delivered and they were still cheaper than what she had charged. I got them direct from the shoe company who assured me these shoes had not been discontinued. Do not go there unless you want horrible customer service or enjoy being mislead and treated with no respect. I would never do business there again. Horrendous service, rude management 7/28/2007

I would never buy anything again from Stylish Impressions! As another reviewer wrote, I too was forced into a larger size than was needed and then needed to pay for alterations. The dress was so huge it had to be taken in two sizes and was then still too big! They measured me at the store and insisted I needed a bigger dress than I actually did. When the dress came in (which takes months), it was too late to return it for an appropriate size, so I was stuck with a dress that was too big and had to pay for alterations. Then, the day of the event, my dress strap came right off! I couldn't wear the dress because the strap would not stay on, despite me pinning it numerous times. Stylish Impressions would not take the dress back, give me a store credit, or even offer an apology. When I talked with the owner about this, she was shockingly rude, repeatedly interrupting me and saying she didn't know the strap actually came off because she wasn't there to witness it. (She had the dress right in front of her, and it was clear the strap had come right off.) She called it ""normal wear and tear"" even though I had barely worn the dress before the strap just came off! I have never in my life been spoken to in such a condescending and offensive way by the management of any store. I would not recommend this shop to anyone. Cons: rude management, poor service more

I had great luck 7/24/2007

I'm kind of confused when reading some of the other recent reviews....I recently purchased my wedding dress as well as my bridal party dresses and I had a relatively good experience-the only thing I didn't like was my first visit....at the time the store was small (but being remodeled to expand space) and packed! So for a first time shopper I felt a little neglected however I chose to purchase my dress there because it was priced BETTER than other stores I saw it at. Every other visit was extremely pleasant and the manager, Diane was AWESOME; very accomodating and nice to work with. I do recommend giving them a try. My only recommendation is that is you are just starting to look for dresses, try and go during the day or be the first appt. on Sat. when its much less busy--Sat. by mid day tend to get very busy. I am overall pleased with the quality of all the dresses purchased there Pros: small friendly atmosphere Cons: small store--can get cramped more

I was very unhappy with stylish impressions. They forced me and my sister to buy larger dresses than necessary and then charged for alterations. They charge you higher prices based on your size and then tell you that you have to buy the larger size even if you don't need it! more

DO NOT WASTE YOUR TIME WITH THIS STORE 4/12/2007

Do not go here if you are looking for a dress and good service. The prices are outrageous, and any dress found here can be found somewhere else for less. The staff is pushy and rude. They are nice when you have an expensive dress on and they are going to make a profit. They advise against all other stores, making it even more obvious how hellbent they are on forcing you into a dress. Not to mention the return policy is ridiculous. I went there and found nothing that i liked, and was talking to a friend of mine about the store, who said that she had gone there and tried to return an extremely expensive dress which they refused to do. SO, they kept the dress and the money, and told them that the ""credit"" was good for a year. EVEN THOUGH the dress had not yet been altered. Those looking to buy one or more dresses , beware, you are STUCK with them. The store is small and poorly set up. Go to a different store if you want any sort of selection. The manager is rude and has a serious attitude, as the other review writer apparently experienced as well. DONT GO HERE! its a money trap, you can find your dress online or at a different store for a much better price, and better yet avoid a rude manager and selfish policies. BUYER BEWARE - I'd wear a paper sack before shopping here again. 3/17/2007

RUN! I would NEVER shop at this store again. We drove 90 minutes to this tiny store and spent $375 on a beautiful dress. The beads began to fall off within an hour of my daughter wearing it. Following her prom, we called the store who said to return the dress to be fixed. After 6 months and no call, I called to find the dress was still hanging in the back and had not been touched. Another 3 months later I called - they can't find beads. I then send the strap from which to take the beads to repair the dress. It is now 10 months later and we have not received the dress back. The owner is argumentative each time I call, telling me she's busy with customers and that she has no ""schedule"" for her seamstress's time - always trying to find some way it is not her fault. How can a business owner operate a business with such disregard for her customers? BUYER BEWARE. IF YOU CAN FIND THE DRESS ELSEWHERE, YOU SHOULD.\r \r As a small business owner myself, I'm appalled at the service we received. Pros: We found the dress we were searching for. Cons: Tiny store, lousy service, rude owner. more
