Great Hairdresser 8/22/2008

Ask for Adeline, she did the best foils and hair cut I've had in years. Receptionist is a little snotty and should be friendly and they didn't offer drinks or magazines as you would expect from a upscale salon, but overall a good experience. Plus if the hairdressers must smoke, they should find somewhere other than around the corner where you can see them just before you walk in - yucky. more

Pricey but worth it 3/8/2007

Strand IS pricey -- but the service is wonderful, from cuts to waxing. It's worth it to me to go less often and be happy with the results. Adeline is FANTASTIC. more

Loved the Love 5/4/2006

I am so sorry the other reviewer had a sour experience, I have known nothing but love and kindness from the staff-- not to mention the BEST BEST hair, waxing and nails. They work on everyone in our family from the two year old to my husband. I know my hair stylist is one of the most in demand in Frederick (love him), and I have had a numerous nearly pain free bikini waxes. Not to mention fabulous Aveda products I have also known the owners for nearly 8 years, and they strive toward a egalitarian environment for all people. I implore anyone seeking a quality salon experience to give the Strand a try. more

Overpriced and Terrible Service 8/22/2005

I love Aveda products and salons, so I was excited when I saw that an Aveda salon was opening in Frederick, a few blocks from my house. I was deeply disappointed once it opened, though. It's incredibly overpriced, I wasn't particularly pleased with my haircuts (and I tried three different stylists before I gave up on them), and worst of all, the MANAGER was rude and incredibly sexist: he said that he charged more for women's haircuts because women are "hysterical" and therefore harder to deal with. Treating customers like that, Strand will soon find that they won't have to deal with any more of us women; we'll go where we're treated with respect! more
