Wow, these guys actually fixed my car !!! 9/23/2011

I thought I was going to be walking :) My engine just decided to throw a rod without any heads up to me... I was so freaked out, who can afford unexpected potentially expensive automobile repair charges ? Not me. But considering I had to endure it either way,m in hindsight it really wasn't so bad. STR transmission and automotive really came through for me and comparably speaking, really saved me allot of money. STR auto and transmission saved out butt. We were stranded in the middle of no where, they picked us up and brought the car back to the shop, when we got it back it ran better than it ever has run. We're very happy with the results. more

Best Engine & Transmission shop in San Antonio 9/9/2011

STR Transmission & Automotive is the Best Engine & Transmission shop in San Antonio because they took my broken engine ( completely locked up - thrown rod ) and fixed it in under a week. I was afraid I was going to have to get another car but when my friend told me about this shop I was holding my breath in high hopes. But Garren sent out a Mercedes flatbed truck and carried my car off. A week later when I got my gar back it sounded better than it ever has. Highest possible recommendations ... more

there is no other mechanic in San Antonio 8/25/2011

When my car broke down I didn't know what to do. I didn't want to pay a tow truck and a repair shop. I found STR transmission and automotive with the help of a friend who referred them to me. Garren sent out a truck to get my car which was dead on the side of the road. They brought me and my car back to the shop, inspected the damage, gave me the numbers to fix it, and then got it done the same day. As far as I'm concerned, there is no other mechanic in the San Antonio New Braunfels area. Eli xoxo more

Great Price on a Great Repair Job 8/25/2011

I took my truck to STR transmission and automotive to have the transmission rebuilt in my suburban. They did a great job and I got to keep my truck. Overall I would say it's a win win situation because the price was right and the work was perfect, so in my opinion that means you can't go wrong. Thanks Garren. more

My transmission broke. I'm mechanically challenged, but I was never made to feel that way. Dirk my mechanic was very strait forward with the issues and costs and he even showed me where we could save some money by prioritizing the repairs. Bottom line, I got a great repair for a great price, I know some other things are bound to come up because he showed me, but now I have a plan of action so rather than freaking out about it next time, I can bring it in and I know pretty much what needs to be done and how much it will cost. Try getting that level of service anywhere else but your dads house and STR - it can't be done .. more

I've used STR for Years. Garren the owner is a good old country boy ( man ) who is actively building a loyal client base. If he had a slogan I'm sure it would be something like that. Garren is the read deal - very genuine, and he cares about the quality of the work that goes out of his shop. He's very competitive and I've seen him eat all his profit because he's honest and won't jack up the price later, even if his mechanics have to work longer to fix something. Folks it just don't get any better than the work or the people over at STR Transmission & Automotive. * He's always rescued me from my car problems and saved me money over going anywhere else. more

STR is the Best Auto Repair Shop in SA 7/18/2011

STR really saved my hinnie. They picked up my car with a flat bed, got back to me early the next day with a report on what they'd done to check out my engine and they gave 2 options to get the repairs underway. I chose the lesser costing plan with slightly less of a warranty and I feel and my car drives like I got the deluxe warranty plan. I'm just saying these guys did a super job regardless of the option I chose. The issue was which parts we used, and they're warranty, not in quality of the craftsmanship, and that my friends is a rare trait in any line of work, but in terms of auto mechanics shops, these guys stand out in my book like a Rising Sun. - oh, and i recommend them :~) more

Garren at STR Transmission and Automotive fixed my car from overheating and saved my car. I was so scared my car was going to catch on fire because the temp gauge was going into the red and the car was sounding an alarm sound. I was really freaking out because I knew this was serious. Actually one metal thing did crack and they check a bunch of other things just to be sure, but in the end it really didn't cost as much as I'd feared it would. WOW - Great Repair Shop 6/26/2011

These guys are extremely knowledgeable and fast. They got right in there and repaired my transmission in only 2 days. I told them I needed my car to go to work and they made an otherwise bad situation allot better. And my transmission was rebuilt perfectly, and the car runs smoothly again. Big thanks to Garren. more

Timing Belt from Hell 6/25/2011

I tried to replace the timing belt myself and since I was already dirty from doing an oil change. Big Mistake, Very Big Mistake. I was totally in over my head. I actually damaged the spindle thing a little and finally i bagged up the pieces and they sent a flat bed and they buttoned it all back up again with the new belt. I called a few shops and they didn't want to deal with the mess I'd made, or if they did it was going to take a week to get it back & it was going to cost too much. But these guys stepped up and got her done for not very much money. I'm a happy camper again and next time i will just bring my car to STR rather than attempt it myself. more

Fisrt Class Transmission Repair Shop 6/25/2011

This guys are Great. They picked up my car and rebuilt the transmission in just a few days. I am so happy to drive my car because i thought I was going to have to scrap it and buy another which I couldn't really afford right now. Garren the owner is really easy to work with and I felt my car was a priority by the way I was treated. In the future i wouldn't go anywhere else for any automotive repair. more

Saved My Car and My Behind... 6/24/2011

Even though STR Transmissions & Automotive is largely a transmission and engine repair shop, I had an emergency when my Gas pedal broke away from the base it's mounted to. I was holding it in place with my hand as I drove to the shop, and if it broke a little bit more it would have completely fallen to the floor. I was a little panicked, but once they looked at it, Dirk, one of the mechanics figured out a way to repair the damage rather than trying to replace the parts,. which wouldn't have been readily available because this is not suppose to break, there aren't allot of places to buy what was needed, nor was the fix easy because you can't weld the metal pedal to the fiberglass backboard we were working with. But Dirk fixed it and it's clearly stronger now than ever. STR Transmissions & Automotive really came to my rescue when I couldn't be without my car and thanks to them, I wasn't... . more
